Promoting Positive Black Images on “Conversations Of A Sistah”

5317677ccbdd3054228c87ef835dd0a5I’m going to keep it real by stating; there are many negative images of dysfunctional relationships in the breakdown of the black family unit. Especially images of healthy relationships of love and marriage amongst black men and women in today’s society. There are more single black woman as heads of households then ever before, as society depicts lack of commitment as a reality for black men.

With the growing number of shows like Empire, Scandal and the negative influences of reality television; positive black images has lost its luster since the days of “A Different World”, “Family Matters” and “The Cosby show”. Let’s face it, gone are the days of The Brady Bunch images on television.

Fed up with the pervasive negative images of black marriage in the media, Ronnie and Lamar Tyler started one of the largest independent African American marriage and parenting sites on the web to combat the negativity of black love and marriage in the media, by focusing on positive messages about marriage.

Ronnie%20Tyler%201Join me tonight at 6:30 p.m. EST on “Conversations Of A Sistah” for my special guest Mrs. Ronnie Tyler (pictured left), founder of “Black and Married with Kids: A Positive Image of Black Marriage“. As we discuss she and her husbands campaign for promoting love and positive images in a black family unit.

It’s “NEVER OK” for a Man (married or single) To Have a Side Chick

beyonce-lemonade-hbo-compressedI woke up to a flood of email messages this morning from blog readers and show listeners wondering what my thoughts and opinions were regarding Beyoncé’s new music “Lemonade”.

And based upon what I’m being schooled on is, Beyonce pouring out her frustration and bitterness in a collection of songs laced with lyrics of infidelity and deceit.

The gist of all the buzz is, Beyoncé’s husband of six years, rap mogul Jay Z cheated on her when she makes reference to Jay Z‘s mistress “Becky” in her song Sorry,” which ends with the line, “he better call Becky with the good hair.” Also referencing his mistress being a white woman.

The woman identified as Jay’s mistress is a fashion designer by the name of Rachel Roy. Roy is believed to be the catalyst behind Solange‘s (Beyoncé’s sister), infamous elevator assault on Jay Z in 2014. Surveillance video inside the elevator captured Solange wildly punching and kicking Jay Z as Beyonce stood by and watched with detached amusement.

My thoughts are #1, I can’t believe ‘good hair’ amongst women is still being referenced in 2016, along with the notion that women have to compete with white women for a man, their man or any man for that fact.

#2, That women are so damn desperate for a man, that they would actually think or accept it being ok for him to be with you and a side chick? What the fuck is wrong with women today? If he can’t  commit to you, kick his disloyal ass to the curb. Point, blank period!!

A male associate of mine said to me this morning, “Beyoncé is a strong woman to stay with Jay Z” Really? This has absolutely nothing to do with her strength but the message she’s sending to young woman regarding their self-worth. If you know he’s cheating and got a side chick, it’s not love it’s stupidity.

There you have it, my  2 cents and opinion on the matter..

PRINCE

My brother Timmy turned me onto Prince my freshman year in college and it has been a purple oasis for me ever since.

The petite singer known as “Prince” passed away today at 9:43 a.m. as paramedics were called to his home in Paisley Park, Minnesota for a medical emergency. It is rumored that the singer actually had HIV however, his Rep told Entertainment Weekly on Friday afternoon, the singer was battling a bad bout of the Flu.

The singer suffered from flu-like symptoms that forced him to cancel 2 concerts in Atlanta last week.

Stay tuned for more on this breaking news story.

Your Soulmate IS NOT your Significant Other, Tonight on “Conversations Of A Sistah”

SoulMates-largeI think we all have different definitions of a soul mate. We tend to believe that a soul mate is a lover, spouse or lifetime partner;  someone with whom we have or will develop a romantic relationship. This may be the case in some instances but not necessarily definitive.

A soul mate is a person with whom one has a feeling of deep or natural affinity. Affinity in terms of sociology, which refers to “kinship of spirit”, interest and other interpersonal commonalities.

In current usage, “soulmate” usually refers to a romantic partner, with the implication of an exclusive lifelong bond. This is to say, the word is used with more rarity than other terms associated with ‘romantic partner’. It is a very versatile term, being defined differently by different individuals, as it is related to the concept of love.

Soulmate commonly holds the connotation of being the strongest bond with another person that one can achieve. Soulmate is not used as often as other terms representing the same idea, and this is likely to lead to its perceived rarity in meaning. The definition ranges widely and cannot be pinpointed. It is commonly accepted that one will feel ‘complete’ once they have found their soulmate, as it is partially in the perceived definition that two souls are meant to unite.

Join me tonight at 6:30 p.m. EST on “Conversations Of A Sistah” via Blog Talk radio, as I reveal the real meaning of one’s soulmate. A bond that is NOT necessarily one tied in romance.

“NOW Faith is”!!!!!…..Tonight on “Conversations Of A Sistah”

kevin-williams-step-out-on-faith-loveFaith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things NOT SEEN. Meaning just because YOU DON’T SEE IT doesn’t mean it isn’t so. And so many people struggle with the realization of this fact, which is why they can’t fathom it as a reality. When “FAITH IS” the complete trust and/or confidence in something or someone. It is the unquestioning belief that does not require proof or evidence.

Life is not void of challenging one’s faith. As sure as you live each day your faith will be tested. So the question is, what does faith mean to you?

Join me tonight at 6:30 p.m. EST on “Conversations Of A Sistah” via Blog Talk Radio as I challenge our thoughts on FAITH!
