Newsflash….Thee exact same Reason Women don’t marry!

I saw this post by Keishorne Scott the other day on IG, as to why men don’t marry?

You are all familiar with Scott who has been a featured guest on “Conversations Of A Sistah“. Well I must take the relationship guru to task and beg to differ a bit because you have some single women who feel the exact same way. In that there is nothing in marrying for them accept to become a man’s house servant, baby maker, porn star and/or waitress.

So what exactly does marriage offer women today? Because I know some women who have lost themselves after they marry, let alone their freedom.

So……the exact can be said about why some women choose to remain single.

The women of today are educated, independent and accomplished and cautious about who they settle with as a mate. Some women are unmarried because there are several factors that come into play concerning what they would have to give up for taking on a partner in holy matrimony. The more women accomplish, the less likely they are inclined to settle for someone who could potentially ruin all they’ve built and acquired financially.

Women are just as cautious concerning entering into a legal contract with someone who could potentially slaughter all that they’ve worked hard for and gained.

Women aren’t wimping out either, they are being just as smart as men when it comes down to entering into the legal contract of marriage, especially since both sexes can have a hidden agenda.

He Kept Both Promises and Marrying Her was one!!

The couple who survived that deadly Charlottesville, VA attack last August by white supremacist were married this past weekend in Gordonsville, Virginia.

Marcus Martin, who was pictured mid-air in a powerful photo taken when the Dodge Challenger struck on August 12, married his fiancée Marissa Blair in Gordonsville, Virginia, during an outdoor ceremony paid for by well-wishers.

Martin, 26, pushed Blair, 27, his then fiance out of the way when the car struck. He suffered a broken leg while the couple’s friend, 32-year-old paralegal and fellow anti-fascist protester Heather Heyer, was killed.

The couple were demonstrating against thousands of white supremacists who had massed in the Virginia town to protest against the decision to remove a statue of Confederate General Robert E. Lee.

All donations gathered at the wedding (where the happy bride and groom are pictured dancing) will be donated to the Heather Heyer Foundation.

Kevin Hart Ties the knot this past weekend….Do U care?

Kevin_Hart MarriedComedian Kevin Hart finally married his longtime girlfriend Eniko Parrish. The couple tied the knot at Oprah‘s estate this weekend after a 3-year engagement. Really, it took him three (3) years to know if she was really the one?

Hart posted a wedding photo on Instagram.com of himself with his new bride and his 2 children, Hendrix and Heaven Hart, from a previous marriage.

He captioned the image “#Harts What’s understood doesn’t need to be said!!!! LiveLoveLove

What needs to be said is Kevin Hart thinks he traded up from his first wife especially since his fiancée’s body language over the years, speaks to the fact that, she think she’s more important than Kevin. Apparently he didn’t get the memo but he will, let’s just wait on time.

Hart’s new wife seems to have a narcissistic attitude that’s troubling. I’ve never seen a bride pose for a wedding photo like she’s on a Broadway stage, then changed into another gown at their reception.

Anyway, do you see any similarities between his former wife and new wife?

Interracial Marriage…How do you feel about it in 2016?

Inter_racial_RelationshipsIn 1958, Richard and Mildred Loving, a black woman and a white man were arrested in their home — in their bedroom — in Caroline County, Virginia. Both had been sentenced to a year in prison because their marriage violated the state’s anti-miscegenation statute and the Racial Integrity Act of 1924, which prohibited marriage between people classified aswhiteand people classified ascolored“.

The Supreme Court’s unanimous decision determined that this prohibition was unconstitutional, reversing Pace v. Alabama (1883) and ending all race-based legal restrictions on marriage in the United States.

The decision was followed by an increase in interracial marriages in the U.S., and is remembered annually on Loving Day, June 12. It is the subject of an upcoming movie to hit theatres in November 2016.

Already meeting Oscar buzz at the Cannes film festival,  It’s absurdly early for Oscar to be sure, but it’s also not hard to see why. The movie’s writer-director Jeff Nichols dramatizes one of America’s most seminal civil rights Supreme Court cases, Loving v. Virginia, but he does so by focusing on the quiet, heartbreaking love story at its center: the marriage of Mildred and Richard Loving.

Does love indeed conquer all? And how do you feel about interracial marriages and relationships?

Promoting Positive Black Images on “Conversations Of A Sistah”

5317677ccbdd3054228c87ef835dd0a5I’m going to keep it real by stating; there are many negative images of dysfunctional relationships in the breakdown of the black family unit. Especially images of healthy relationships of love and marriage amongst black men and women in today’s society. There are more single black woman as heads of households then ever before, as society depicts lack of commitment as a reality for black men.

With the growing number of shows like Empire, Scandal and the negative influences of reality television; positive black images has lost its luster since the days of “A Different World”, “Family Matters” and “The Cosby show”. Let’s face it, gone are the days of The Brady Bunch images on television.

Fed up with the pervasive negative images of black marriage in the media, Ronnie and Lamar Tyler started one of the largest independent African American marriage and parenting sites on the web to combat the negativity of black love and marriage in the media, by focusing on positive messages about marriage.

Ronnie%20Tyler%201Join me tonight at 6:30 p.m. EST on “Conversations Of A Sistah” for my special guest Mrs. Ronnie Tyler (pictured left), founder of “Black and Married with Kids: A Positive Image of Black Marriage“. As we discuss she and her husbands campaign for promoting love and positive images in a black family unit.
