Kelly died on May 1st at a hospital after collapsing in his home from a cocaine and heroine binge the night before. A toxicology report concluding the rappers cause of death is pending.

Former Kris Kross member Chris Smith and his sister Jennifer Smith (pictured above), begin to weep while speaking at the funeral of Chris Kelly. Smith and Kelly rose to fame after being discovered by Jermaine Dupri at a mall in Atlanta. The group was famous for their signature clothes being worn backwards style and their biggest hit “Jump-Jump”.

Another artist on Durpi’s record label attended the services, rapper Da Brat, pictured here, with her pants worn backwards in honor of Kelly. Chris and Da Brat performed in February marking Jermaine Dupri’s record label’s twentieth anniversary celebration. Does Da Brat look like she’s going to a cook-out or is it just me?

Jermaine Dupri (pictured below) who was of course also in attendance and wearing his jeans backwards in honor of Kelly said “Chris Kelly was like the son he never had“. Dupri was just as shocked to hear of Kelly’s death. Guess he had no clue of what his artist son was into.

Malcolm Shabazz, Grandson of Malcolm X, Dies

Malcolm Shabazz, the troubled grandson of civil rights icon Malcolm X, has been killed in Mexico, the U.S. Embassy there confirms.

The Amsterdam News reports that Shabazz, 28, was thrown off a rooftop after being shot during an attempted robbery on Thursday, May 9.

“I’m confirming, per U.S. Embassy, on behalf of family, the tragic death of Malcolm Shabazz, grandson of Malcolm X. Statement from family 2 come,” tweeted Shabazz family friend Terrie M. Williams on twitter earlier today.

Shabazz was the son of Qubilah Shabazz, the second daughter of Malcolm X and Betty Shabazz. He was 12 years old in 1997 when he torched Betty Shabazz’s New York apartment, killing her.

Shabazz pled guilty to arson and was sentenced to 18 months in a juvenile detention center. Shabazz’s sentence was extended due to discipline problems and he was released four years later.

Shabazz later claimed he didn’t set the fire that killed his grandmother.

At the time of his death Shabazz was studying Criminal Justice at John Jay College in New York. It isn’t known why Shabazz was in Mexico. He leaves behind 2 daughters.

Mothers have protected us morally by teaching us right from wrong, many times they have also protected us emotionally by keeping us from things they knew would hurt us. Mothers are always an emotional shield and want their children to learn lessons before they have to live them, which is why the old saying goes, “mother knows best”.

Mother’s Day is Sunday May 12, 2013, a day to honor those women in our lives who have made an eternal difference. Maybe it was the woman who gave birth to you, but it also may be an aunt, a sister, or another dear woman who has changed your life for the better.

In honor of Mother’s Day, my guest this week will be the woman who gave me life and directed my course of existence, my mother Mrs. Lottie Bell (pictured above), tonight May 8th at 8:00 PM on “Conversations Of A Sistah”.

BASKETBALL great MICHAEL JORDAN, 50, married Cuban born Yvette Prieto, 34, in an elaborate ceremony last weekend in Jupiter, Florida. the wedding was complete with all of the fanfare that Jordan’s money can buy.

Jordan’s new bride is supposedly an American model yet there’s no trace of her modeling anywhere for any top magazines or high-end designers ever. Truth is, Yvette was a party girl scoping upscale night clubs looking to snag a baller and hit the jackpot when she met Jordan.

According to the National Enquirer: Yvette is determined to lock onto “Michael Jordan’s” bank account by getting pregnant before the end of the summer… whether Michael wants it or not. Michael, 50, agreed to marry the 35-year-old Cuban-born model only after she  signed a prenup giving her $1 million for each year they are married, which would be increased to $5 million per year if the union lasts a decade or more.

But insiders told The ENQUIRER Yvette isn’t about to settle for that! “She thinks that’s chump change and has her own plans for breaking the prenup,”  divulged a close source. She figures if she has children with Michael, she’ll  have a hold on him forever, even if their marriage collapses. The child support  payments alone would add up to more than $1 million a year for each kid, and the  money would keep rolling in for at least 18 years. She told a friend, “If I have Michael’s babies, I’ll be set for life!”

“If Yvette’s marriage to Michael fails, she plans to soak him for a LOT more  than a measly million a year,” the source told The ENQUIRER. “She’s a gold  digger and won’t be happy until a big chunk of his fortune is in her pocket. “Some family members and friends think Michael’s making a huge mistake and  will pay in the end”.

When it comes to money, Yvette’s parents, Carlos and Maria Prieto, were  rotten role models. As The ENQUIRER revealed exclusively, in 2005 they were both  sentenced to 18 months in prison for insurance fraud involving a crooked medical  billing scheme.
