Obama Holds News Conference Amid Shutdown and Debt Ceiling Fights

President Barack Obama held a press conference today to discuss the ongoing standoff over the government shutdown, which entered its second week today, as well as the looming debt ceiling deadline on October 17th.

“Take this drama off the table” the president said and let congress be on record for taking a vote today to end this government shutdown.

Obama let it all hang out even stating that it’s the tea-party who has Boehner and his colleagues in this petty strong-hold of threats. In the meantime holding the American people hostage until they get their way. The president stressed that he’s tired and he knows the American people are tired of this game of retaliation as well.

Obama says he urged Boehner to hold a vote immediately to reopen the government. A vote could end the shutdown today!

Christine Beatty Opens Up About her Affair with Former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick

christine Beatty

The woman at the heart of the text-messaging scandal that destroyed former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick opens up about her life, her family and her notorious affair in the November issue of Essence Magazine.

Christine Beatty (pictured above) was Kilpatrick’s former chief of staff and mistress, and she speaks a deep admitted, bitter truth in the November issue of Essence stating: “Men are forgiven following political sex scandals, while women are negatively labeled”.

Beatty writes that while she was professionally shunned in the aftermath of the scandal, Kilpatrick left jail and landed a six-figure job as an account executive at Compuware, a job he later lost.

Christine then speaks candidly about her affair with Kilpatrick, which I find is an outright disrespect to Kilpatrick’s wife Carlita, since they are still married.

“For years I would think fondly of our first kiss, the one we shared sitting on my mother’s couch after our first date. That kiss, passionate yet gentle, was the sweetest thing I had ever experienced.”

“We would find any spare time we could to be together, at the office or at my home when my children weren’t there. … He made me laugh, he made me angry, he propelled me to ecstasy and reduced me to tears, but most important, I felt he loved me unconditionally,”.

The November issue of Essence hit newsstands Thursday Oct. 10 the same day Kwame Kilpatrick is scheduled for sentencing.

The prosecutor is seeking a minimum of 28 years.

Dental Hygienist Who Rammed Car into White House Gate Thought Obama Was Stalking Her

Miriam Carey

A Connecticut woman who was shot and killed by Capitol Police in Washington, D.C. Thursday may have suffered from postpartum depression and paranoid delusions.

Miriam carey, a 34-year-old dental hygienist, was shot after she rammed a gate on the southeast side of the White House on Thursday.

According to a NBC report, Carey believed President Obama was stalking her.

Her mother, Idella Carey, told ABC News Carey suffered from postpartum depression after giving birth to her daughter Erica last year.

The 1-year-old girl was in the back seat of Carey’s black Nissan Infinity sedan when she drove 270 miles from her home in suburban Stamford.

Witnesses say Carey plowed her car into a barrier near the White House, hitting a Secret Service officer who tried to wave her down. The impact sent him flying over the car’s hood. The Secret Service officer sustained minor injuries.

Capitol Police officers opened fire on the car as Carey sped off. She led Capitol Police on a high-speed chase through the streets of Washington, D.C. One officer was injured when he lost control of his cruiser and slammed into a concrete barrier.

Moments later, Carey rammed her car into a gate near the U.S. Capitol. Police surrounded the car and fired a dozen rounds into the vehicle.

Carey was pronounced dead at a D.C. hospital. Miraculously little Erica was not injured. She is in the care of child protective services.

Jackson Family Lose “AEG Live” Wrongful Death Lawsuit

A California jury yesterday sided with concert promoter ‘AEG Live’ in a multi-billion dollar wrongful death lawsuit brought on by Michael Jackson’s mother, Katherine, 83.

The Jackson family matriarch filed the lawsuit in February 2013, seeking up to $40 billion from AEG Live.

The jury found AEG was not liable for the actions of Michael’s former personal physician Conrad Murray, who is scheduled to be released from prison this month after serving just 2 of a four-year sentence, for negligent homicide in Michael’s death.

The jury found that AEG had hired Murray as Jackson’s personal physician, but Murray was competent to practice medicine because he held a valid medical license.

Murray in addition, saw the jury’s verdict as “justice”.

“I cried because, for once, the world was allowed to hear some of the facts at they pertain to this matter — a lot of facts that have been suppressed, much of which I was denied and my attorneys could not present during my criminal trial,” Dr. Conrad Murray said on NBC’s “Today” on Thursday.

AEG Live attorney Marvin Putnam said the jury vindicated AEG.

“The jury’s decision completely vindicates AEG Live, confirming what we have known from the start — that although Michael Jackson’s death was a terrible tragedy, it was not a tragedy of AEG Live’s making,” Putnam said.

Michael died on June 25, 2009, at age 50, of cardiac and respiratory arrest. Murray was convicted of involuntary manslaughter in Nov. 2011 for failing to properly monitor Jackson after a fatal administration of the intravenous surgical anesthesia Propofol.

The Jackson family plan to appeal the jury’s decision.
