An “Ape in heels” is what they called “Michelle Obama”

15027662_694864644002410_2765496967866923397_nWest Virginia officials are under fire for their comments about Michelle Obama. A nonprofit group’s director and a mayor in a small town in West Virginia have been swept up in a firestorm surrounding comments they’ve made about Michelle Obama that have been perceived as blatantly racist.

“It will be so refreshing to have a classy, beautiful, dignified First Lady back in the White House. I’m tired of seeing a Ape in heels,” according to NBC affiliate WSAZ.

Comments posted by Pamela Ramsey Taylor (pictured above), on her Facebook page about Michelle Obama.

Taylor, who was director of Clay County Development Corp. in Clay, Virginia, a small town outside of Charleston, made the comment about the move from Michelle Obama to Melania Trump.

The news station reported that the town’s mayor, Beverly Whaling, then replied, “Just made my day Pam.”

The comments were later deleted, but images of the post have been shared widely on social media. As of Monday afternoon, an online petition calling for the women’s terminations had garnered more than 14,000 signatures.

Both of their Facebook pages have been removed, according to the Charleston Gazette-Mail.

Two-tenths of 1 percent of Clay County’s residents are African American, according to census dataMore than three-quarters of the presidential votes cast in the county went to Trump.

The two women have apologized for their remarks.

Interracial Marriage…How do you feel about it in 2016?

Inter_racial_RelationshipsIn 1958, Richard and Mildred Loving, a black woman and a white man were arrested in their home — in their bedroom — in Caroline County, Virginia. Both had been sentenced to a year in prison because their marriage violated the state’s anti-miscegenation statute and the Racial Integrity Act of 1924, which prohibited marriage between people classified aswhiteand people classified ascolored“.

The Supreme Court’s unanimous decision determined that this prohibition was unconstitutional, reversing Pace v. Alabama (1883) and ending all race-based legal restrictions on marriage in the United States.

The decision was followed by an increase in interracial marriages in the U.S., and is remembered annually on Loving Day, June 12. It is the subject of an upcoming movie to hit theatres in November 2016.

Already meeting Oscar buzz at the Cannes film festival,  It’s absurdly early for Oscar to be sure, but it’s also not hard to see why. The movie’s writer-director Jeff Nichols dramatizes one of America’s most seminal civil rights Supreme Court cases, Loving v. Virginia, but he does so by focusing on the quiet, heartbreaking love story at its center: the marriage of Mildred and Richard Loving.

Does love indeed conquer all? And how do you feel about interracial marriages and relationships?

Trooper Who Arrested Sandra Bland Indicted For Lying In Police Report

A woman holds a poster bearing the portrait of Sandra Bland, a 28-year-old black woman who killed herself in a Texas jail cell on July 13th, during a Michael Brown memorial rally on Union Square August 9, 2015 in New York. Demonstrators showed support on the one year anniversary on the death of 18-year-old Michael Brown, an unarmed black teen who was shot and killed in Ferguson, Missouri by a white police officer, Darren Wilson, throwing America's troubled race relations into harsh relief. If he lied in the report, he’s lied about everything else!

A grand jury indicted Brian Encinia today on perjury for the conduct related to the contentious traffic stop of Sandra Bland. The black woman who was eventually arrested for assault and then died three days later in jail, allegedly of suicide.

Dashcam video shows the traffic stop quickly became confrontational, with Encinia holding a stun gun and yelling, “I will light you up!” after Bland refused to get out of her car.

Encinia is accused of lying about how he removed Bland from her vehicle.

The same grand jury declined last month to indict sheriff’s officials or jailers. This is the only charge Encinia will face. The grand jury failed to charge him with anything in addition.

Has President Barack Obama failed His People? Tonight on “Conversations Of A Sistah”

It’s no secret that more black men have been killed under Barack Obama’s presidency than ever before. The uprising and death of African Americans, both men and women at the hands of police have been prevalent in recent years.

The latest victim of causality is Freddie Gray, a Baltimore, Maryland native who was killed this month while in police custody.

Gray was hauled into a police van with a broken spine but exited with a broken spine and severed voice box. It is widely speculated that Gray had several injuries, of which details are being withheld; due to the current tension and violent rioting going on since he was laid to rest.

But Freddie Gray is just one black man amongst many who have been killed by police.

Last year alone there was the killing of Michael Brown Akai Gurley, Kajieme Powell, Tyree Woodson, Jonathan Ferrelle, Ezelle Ford, John Crawford, Tamir Rice and Eric Garner. The list goes on with many to name but is president Barack Obama really to blame?

Did people of color really expect to receive justice for all and equal share, just because a black man took up residence in the white house?

GOP Haters going after Michelle Obama

subway ad

No I don’t want to talk about the Grammy’s which aired last night because I didn’t watch! Some of the young artist of today lack talent, class and a sense of decorum and I’d rather not waste my time.

I do however; want to address the Facebook page that was created for the sole purpose of rejecting Subways partnership with Michelle Obama. The image above was listed on their page and is an indication of the racist intent to insult the first lady behind the guise of their gripe.

The creator or creators of this page have twisted the message and the meaning as dictatorship and a deplorable way of insulting the first lady’s efforts. Yet obesity has been cited as a contributing factor to approximately 100,000–400,000 deaths in the United States each year.

With high blood pressure, diabetes and other weight and health related diseases on the rise, how can Michelle Obama’s initiative be so misconstrued?

The bigotry of these individuals are bold  and their ignorance heralds the sadness of their misguided reasoning to reject the positive results of the first lady’s initiative’s in the first place.

How sad!!
