Deliver me from the drama! Why I’ve shunned Reality TV…

Sometimes there’s a enough drama in real life, let alone trying to catch up with someone else’s with this new craze of reality TV.

VH1 seems to be taking the lead in the reality television race with Basketball wives, Braxton Family Values, Keeping up with the Kardashians and Honey Boo-Boo, just to name a few. Fighting, arguing and viewing these characters live drama fest is apparently what feeds the stations ratings. But at what point does reality drama become too much?

I’ll admit, I use to religiously watch Basketball Wives, Love & Hip Hop and Braxton Family Values; with the Braxton’s being more geared toward decent reality television than the others. The Braxtons deal with their everyday issues from being a close-knit family (with a religious background) in the business of music with the drama that ensues. The Braxton’s drama has never escalated to the point where they’ve disgraced themselves like many of the others.

So now we have R&B Divas and Whitney Houston’s family soon to follow. Are we as a society that starved to see into other people’s lives and drama? No I’m not, which is why I had to give it up. I’m too busy starring in my own reality television and controlling the channels of negativity that I choose to keep out.

I sincerely apologize to those CEO readers who are looking to get reality show updates. Please note: that I (this blog’s host) has officially been delivered from Reality Television drama but we “thank you” for wondering.

Sparkle came in “5th place” at the box office

Sparkle starring the late Whitney Houston and Jordan Sparks came in fifth place at the box office this weekend earning $12 million dollars…

The Expendables 2 starring Sylvester Stallone and Liam Hemsworth snagged the top spot again this week with $28.8 million, followed by The Bourne Legacy with $16 million, animated feature ParaNorman pulled $14 million and The Campaign starring Will Ferrell and Zach Galifinakis beat Sparkle to the number four spot with $13.4 million dollars.

In the meantime, the original Sparkle starring Irene Cara and Philip Michael Thomas aired on BET yesterday afternoon. Based on a conversation I had with my girlfriend Joycee, people are really not big on classic movie remakes.

New Birth is having an Anniversary celebration but…you have to bring your own food!!!

I’m not lying Ceo family…New Birth Baptist Church in Lithonia, Ga is celebrating their pastor (Eddie Long’s) 25th Pastoral Anniversary and they’re asking their members to “BYOF” – Bring Your Own Food!!!! I’ve underlined it in red on the flyer above for all to see the reference with their very own eyes.

The flyer advertising the event at New Birth Baptist lists ticket prices at $25 for adults and $10 for children. Yes and in addition to “bringing your own food”, they are also charging their members to enter the celebration as well.

This is a far cry from the lavish events New Birth have held in the past especially since the basis of Eddie Long’s teachings are on prosperity gospel.

New Birth was rocked by scandal last year after Bishop Eddie Long was forced to settle sexual misconduct lawsuits brought against him by five young men [click here and/or search Eddie Long in the search engine if you missed that].

When it’s not of God, it is yet BUT for a season!

Bobby Brown heads back to rehab…

Bobby Brown is seeking treatment for his own addictions. The former New Edition singer, who was arrested in March on a DUI, is currently in a rehab center, his new wife confirms: “He’s doing great,” Alicia Etheredge tells RadarOnline. Although a source tells the site that Brown, 43, is getting help for an alcohol addiction, his wife of just two months wouldn’t confirm those details.

In May, the “My Prerogative” singer admitted he still drank in a “Today show” interview with Matt Lauer. “I’m not allowed to drink for the next 30 days [per judge’s orders],” he said at the time. “I do have a cocktail occasionally, you know. I will again, I know that. But I’m seven years clean from narcotics. You know, I’m living — I’m living the life that I want to live.” In the same interview, Brown also admitted that he “would always be worried” that his 19-year-old daughter with Houston, Bobbi Kristina, would fall into the same addictions as her mother and father. With two parents addicted, Bobbi Kristina has double the curse to fight against that happening.

I would not belong to a church where the Pastor is single…

Be it woman or man, if they are single pastors I would not attend their church.

Why? Because I believe in this particular leadership position, one ought to have a partner to be an example for its members that; love and heterosexual relationships is God’s ultimate plan for man.

The marriage and love between a pastor and his or her husband or wife, should be so igniting that they’re fostering relationships of their single memberships and encouraging marriage in the long run.

If a couple is happily married that energy will reflect on the growth of its members, if the leadership couple has issues within, that congregation will not grow.

A minister should be concerned about the WHOLE man, not just delivering God’s Word every Sunday, collecting an offering and going about his business. While in the meantime, you have single men and women sitting up in church secretly yearning for more.

Does your church have a single’s ministry? Does your church have social activities geared toward singles? Does your pastor even discuss relationships from onset to maturity? Is your pastor even concerned about the single adults in his ministry? And lastly, how many couples have your pastor’s married this year?

A church without goals is not concerned about souls!!!!

I hope this answers the question from one of my loyal CEO readers.
