KKK, Klu Klux KLan, Law Enforcement, Racially motivated, Racist

The KKK is Alive & they meet, behind closed doors…They still wear sheets!

Fruitland Park, Florida is 50 miles northwest of Orlando with a community of less than 5,000 residents and has been recently rocked with news that their policemen are a part of the Klan. An investigative report linked two city officers with the secret hate society that was once violently active in the area.

George Hunnewell, was fired, and deputy chief David Borst (pictured below) resigned from the 13-member Fruitland Park Police Department recently. James Elkins, a third officer resigned in 2010 after his Klan ties became public.

Fruitland Park, has been dealing with alleged KKK ties and other problems in the police ranks since 2010, when Elkins resigned after his estranged wife made his membership public.

As recently as the 1960s, many in law enforcement in the South were members of the KKK. Is it exceedingly unusual these days to find a police officer who are secretly Klansman? Sounds unrealistic and far-fetched but its shockingly a grim reality.

My cousin (who is in law enforcement in Florida) recently shared what has since been confirmed through a PoliticsNation investigative report, that Klansmen still exist on police forces throughout the south. They’re not only policemen wearing badges but they’re judges, lawyers and secretly hate behind the laws in the counties and states which they govern.

Membership in the Klan is secret. Like many fraternal organizations, the Klan has signs which members can use to recognize one another. A member may use the acronym AYAK (Are you a Klansman?) in conversation to surreptitiously identify himself to another potential member. The response AKIA (A Klansman I am) completes the greeting.

Detroit, Human rights issue, Racial tension, Racially motivated

Could You Live without water? The Residents of Detroit are!

water_3-600x314

More than 2,000 Detroit residents took to the streets last week to protest the “discriminatory” water shut offs in their city.

The NAACP Legal Defense Fund complained that the water shut offs were “racially motivated,” and that the city was targeting “the most vulnerable citizens” while ignoring major corporations who are millions of dollars delinquent on their water bills.

In the meantime, the water department showed favoritism to corporations while targeting poor blacks who can’t flush their toilets, take showers or have the use of water as a bare necessity. Instead the folks who are being cut off are almost one hundred percent African-American.

This is not only a human rights issue but a disgrace that this is happening in what is supposed to be one of the richest countries in the world.

Mamie_T_Gailes

As I’ve always stated before, we all have gifts to share and some of us were trained, ordained or taught to sustain such gifts. When we emanate our parents they pass the torch with these gifts, so that we can continue their legacy in some way or another.

This is the case with Mamie T. Gailes (pictured above), her love of cooking has been passed down from generation to generation. Her grandmother was an excellent cook and so was her mother and she is carrying this torch of talent because of her love for cooking from these women in her life.

Cooking is more than just mixing up ingredients. It’s about sharing my love for food with everyone I meet.

My zeal comes from my Mom (Bessie L. Thomas) she put so much passion into everything that she cooked.

Now it’s my turn to give you the finest, freshest & most flavorful meal that a Chef can serve.

Conversations Of A Sistah, Relationships

What You need to know about family…Tonight on “Conversations Of A Sistah”

quotes-for-family

There’s the whole family, that one family, the extended family, the immediate family, the close-knit family and those who make up the family; either way we all have one or we all have some. My extended families have always been close, depending on whose side of the family you’re talking about.

My father’s side of the family was always peace makers, while my mother’s side was all hell takers. Meaning, they’d take you to hell by the way you would be provoked into responding to them. Some of them are loud, wild and bodacious, while my father’s side of the family, were always quiet, easy going and mellow. When my father’s family get together you can expect laughter, a good time and cheers, while from my mother’s side, discord, whispers and tears. My brother would always say, at one of their barbecue’s you don’t know whether to pack a pistol or bring the punch.

Well this weekend, I’ll have the esteemed pleasure of hosting our family reunion here in the great state of New Jersey, where we have relatives traveling from near and far. And despite the frustrations and challenges of bringing everyone together, there’s something I have learned about family.

Joined me tonight at 8:00 PM on “Conversations Of A SistahviaConversations Liveas I talk about family… A topic for which we all can relate….And if there is anything you’d like to share about your family, I’ll be taking your phone calls at 1-347-426-3645.

See you on the air!!!
