The legendary Melba Moore!

Tony Award winner, Soprano songbird, and 3-time Grammy nominee, Melba Moore who has conquered Broadway in memorable roles such as, HAIR (1967), PURLIE (1970) and became the first Black woman to inhabit the role of Fantine in LES MISERABLES (1995) has conquered it all.

Born October 29, 1945, Beatrice Melba Smith, Moore grew up in the Harlem section of New York until age nine, when her mother remarried, jazz pianist Clement Leroy Moorman and the family relocated to Newark, New Jersey.  Her countless hits such as “Read my lips”, “This is it” “Fallin” and my personal favorite, “You stepped into my life” has helped to make her a global success for more than fifty years.

Now in her riveting new book, “This is it” Ms. Moore takes you on the highs and lows of her career and talk about how she’s had to pivot time and again in an industry that didn’t always know what to do with a petite powerhouse with a big voice.

Melba’s new memoirs, “This Is It – Marvelous…And Getting Better”, will be available in November 2025 via Amazon Books. Ms. Moore shares many aspects of her career and life, as well as how she navigated the successes and challenges that came her way.

This is it….

Melba will join me this week on “Conversations Of A Sistah” as we discuss her book and illustrious career. Sound off in the comment section below, with the questions you’d like me to ask Ms. Moore.

‘” I’m Sorry” Remorseful or Convenience? on Wednesday’s “Conversation Of A Sistah”

Kim Potter, the police woman who fatally shot Dante Wright said “sorry” repeatedly as she addressed Wright’s family in the court room before sentencing on Friday. The former Minneapolis police officer said she confused or mistook her handgun for her taser.

Potter was convicted in December of first- and second-degree manslaughter in the April 11 killing of Wright, a 20-year-old Black motorist, she was sentenced on Friday to two years in prison. Only on the more serious charge in accordance with state law. Wright’s family denounced the sentence as too lenient and accused the judge of giving more consideration to the white officer than the Black victim.

Speaking before the sentence was imposed, Potter was shaking and tearful. A much different image from that shown in her smiling mugshot.

Potter offered an apology to Wright’s family, then spoke directly to his mother: “Katie, I understand a mother’s love. I’m sorry I broke your heart … my heart is broken and devastated for all of you.”

The Transgender Agenda – Tonight on Conversations Of A Sistah

The Transgender Agenda

The so-called “transgender” agenda is a misogynistic assault on the rights, privacy, and safety of women and girls—and is being fueled by a massive, vicious, and well-funded industry. Who’s in on it? And how is this agenda being pushed?

Most Americans do not understand the real threat that the “transgender” agenda, or the so-called “gender identity” movement, poses to all of us. We have been told that “transgender” is a word to describe a marginalized group of people who are in need of civil rights protection; it is not. Instead, it is an incoherent word that is being used to advance a much broader agenda.

There is a transgender agenda and we’re talking about it on this weeks “Conversations Of A Sistah”.

Sexual Harassment &The Hypocrisy Thereof, Tonight on “Conversations Of A Sistah”

I’m BACK!!!!

Almost nothing is quite as simple as it looks. Certainly not sexual harassment and accusations thereof—as insiders at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences are well aware, with the expulsion of Harvey Wienstien following dozens of claims that he had sexually abused actresses and others over the years.

After banishing Wienstien at an emergency session, the Academy’s board of governors boldly declared an end to Hollywood’s silence about industry sex abuse. The expulsion, it said, was intended “to send a message that the era of willful ignorance and shameful complicity in sexually predatory behavior and workplace harassment in our industry is over.”? And it definitely is, with women coming out of the woodwork regarding sexual harassment in every wake of the industry and media, this topic is at the forefront. From the firing of NBC’s Matt Lauer to Congressman John Conyers, the shit is seriously hitting the fan!!

“Why are Single Women Pursuing Men?” Tonight on “Conversations Of A Sistah”

What is up with single women pursuing men? Even magazine ads are starting to suggest or even encourage women that this is the way to go. Are women that hard up? My God I hope not!!

If you have to pursue a man chances are, he’s not interested and is just along for the ride.

Women who chase men believe therein lies their happiness. And the man they’re chasing can provide that happiness but believing such bullshit is not only shallow but an empty assessment of ones selfworth.

Join me live at 6:30 p.m. on “Conversations Of A Sistah” via blog talk radio for tonights commentary, “Why are single women chasing men?” It’s the man’s responsibility to pursue you and I’ll tell you why? So tune in.

All “conversation links” in this post will give you access to the online show.

Hope to meet you on the air.
