Good food, Jameson's Soul Food, New Restaurants

Jameson’s Soul Food Restaurant is the Stop of all stops!

jamesons_soul_foodDuring my holiday weekend travel, one of our choices for dinner was at Jameson’s soul food restaurant. A quaint little spot nestled in Neptune, NJ just shy off the beaches of Long Branch, NJ and the coast of the Jersey shore.

Owned and operated by a former marine, who’s charm and appeal are no match for his slammin mac and cheese, fried catfish and buttery candied yams. Our food came out piping hot and served up by Mr. J himself.

The ambiance was sweet, friendly, family oriented and frequented by the locals. It was raining men as they all marched in by the droves for his mouth watering oxtails smothered in gravy, collard greens and black eyed peas. His desserts were an array of southern favorites such as; red velvet cake, sweet potato pie, chocolate cake, banana pudding, peach cobbler and cheese cakes. The choices were many and the place was packed!

Jameson also make and bottle his own beverages.

If you’re ever on the shores off the coast of New Jersey be sure and put this place on your stop.

I give it 10 thumbs up.!!

Bishop Eddie Long Responds to Reports, That He’s Dying of a Terminal Illness

eddie-long-550x445Bishop Eddie Long and New Birth Missionary Baptist Church responded to rampant reports that he is hospitalized with a terminal illness.

Rumor has it that Long is on his death bed at an undisclosed Atlanta hospital.

The mega church released a statement to the media on Tuesday, hours after supporters called on church members to pray for Long.

The statement reads:

“I am recovering from a health challenge that I trust God to deliver me from. It is unrelated to the eating for life diet consisting of mostly raw vegetables that I am continuing, as part of a holistic approach to good health”.

At this time my family and I are requesting that you respect our privacy.

I truly appreciate your prayers and support for me, my loved ones and my beloved New Birth Church Family.”

Rumors began swirling when the embattled preacher uploaded a video to his Facebook page that revealed his shocking weight loss.

In the video posted on Aug. 12, the charismatic preacher, who once tipped the scales at a robust 239 pounds, explained that he was taking medicine to help boost his immune system.

“I’m on the medicine that God gave you to feed your immune system to build you up,” he said. “You know what, if you really want to move through this world and have influence you gotta be spiritual and you have to walk by His commandments and you have to be healthy.”

He also said he was avoiding a “slave diet” of fast food.

Ferguson Black Lives Matter Activist Darren Seals Executed

darren-seals-550x436A prominent Black Lives Matter activist who led the protests in Ferguson, MO. was shot and killed early Tuesday.

Police found the body of 29-year-old Darren Seals in a burned out car near St. Louis.

He was shot to death before the car was torched in a parking lot along the Mississippi River in a northern St. Louis suburb.

Aralyn Jones told KMOV-TV she woke up around 2 a.m. and saw the car fully engulfed in flames after hearing a “big, big boom”.

Police believe the vehicle was set on fire around 1:50 a.m. Tuesday.

Seals was a key leader in the protests over the wrongful police shooting of teenager Michael Brown in Ferguson on August 9, 2014.

Seals’ grandmother, Ether Seals, remembered him as a “smart kid”.

“I’m just numb,” she told the NY Daily News.

“I didn’t realize how smart he was until all those things happened in Ferguson where he was living,” she said.

Seals lived just blocks away from where 18-year-old Brown was fatally shot by former Ferguson cop Darren Wilson. Brown had refused Wilson’s orders to get out of the street.

In a 2014 interview Seals said he watched as Brown’s body lay in the street for hours.

“It wasn’t even a protest yet… It was a black boy being shot in the community,” said Seals of his actions that helped inspire the Black Lives Matter activist movement.

“I’m very proud of him,” Ether Seals said.

“I didn’t realize how much he’d been doing until people started calling today. I’m going to miss him so much,” she added.

This is a HOT mess!

Wife and mistress both show up at the hospital and try to visit the same man and ultimately causes all hell to break loose. In the video the wife is seen holding onto a chunk of the other woman’s hair.

Women kill me attacking the other woman when it’s their husbands who breach the commitment in the marriage. She (the wife), should’ve jumped on her husband, not his mistress.

He refused to Salute the flag, what’s the issue? on “Conversations Of A Sistah”

14-things-you-should-know-about-colin-kaepernick-before-he-becomes-wildly-famousSan Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick will probably never stand up during the national anthem again. Kaepernick, 28, sparked controversy when he sat through the national anthem at a preseason game this weekend.

I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people,” he said after the game.

The quarterback remained defiant amid the firestorm of criticism directed his way after the 49ers loss to the Green Bay Packers on Saturday.

Kaepernick said nothing is going to change as long as there is injustice and police brutality toward black people in America.

I’m going to continue to stand with the people that are being oppressed,” said Kaepernick, who is biracial and was adopted by white parents.

“To me this is something that has to change. When there’s significant change and I feel like that flag represents what it’s supposed to represent, this country is representing people the way that it’s supposed to, I’ll stand.”

Even though he risks being cut by the team for his stance, Kaepernick says the message he is sending is very necessary.

No one’s tried to quiet me and, to be honest, it’s not something I’m going to be quiet about,” he said on Sunday. “I’m going to speak the truth when I’m asked about it. This isn’t for look. This isn’t for publicity or anything like that. This is for people that don’t have the voice. And this is for people that are being oppressed…”

Kaepernick criticized the lax hiring process for cops in America.

“You can become a cop in six months and don’t have to have the same amount of training as a cosmetologist,” Kaepernick said. “That’s insane. Someone that’s holding a curling iron has more education and more training than people that have a gun and are going out on the street to protect us.”

Is Kaepernick wrong for his strong stance on police brutality and racial profiling?
