March For Humanity To Commemorate MLK’s Funeral Procession, 50 Years Ago Today.

More than 2,000 strong march to commemorate the funeral procession of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. 50 years ago to the day — the march started down Auburn Avenue toward downtown Atlanta at 12:55 p.m. Singing “I Ain’t Gonna Let Nobody Turn Me ‘Round” and “This Little Light of Mine,” the marchers were led by King’s granddaughter, Yolanda Renee King; his son, Martin III; his daughter, Bernice King; Robert Kennedy’s daughter, Kerry Kennedy; March for Our Lives organizer Jaclyn Corin; and King family members  Isaac Farris, Alveda King Beal and Naomi King, widow of King’s brother, A.D. Also in the front ranks: the Rev. Al Sharpton and rapper T.I.

The 1.3-mile March for Humanity commemorated a portion of the original funeral procession from Ebenezer to Morehouse College. The 1968 procession was 4.3 miles. Today’s march ended at the state Capitol with a ceremony at Liberty Plaza.

What’s the PROBLEM Black Man???

We should all be proud and responsible for the decisions we make in this life. And these decisions should also be the case in love and marriage. Be proud of who you choose as a wife and/or partner to spend your life.

I was out to dinner last night, enjoying the company and the ambiance of my evening when, three black men came into the restaurant with their brood and was seated in my view. It was obvious others would be joining their party as there were “3” empty seats left at their table. They wouldn’t of had my attention except, they kept staring at me, which was when I noticed all of their children were bi-racial. The stare was becoming so obvious that one of the men had his shades on not to be so conspicuous. These men were so attentive of me, that I was beginning to think I was the only black woman in the restaurant. I couldn’t figure it out.

Then the obvious happened, three white women joined them who were apparently their spouses, significant others and the mother of these children. Well thank God!!! I thought….So why did they continue to stare at me? Because really I didn’t care. Did they regret having not waited to hook up with a fine black woman? Were they guilty because they married and procreated outside of their race? I got the impression they were not happy with the women who joined them. Whatever the issue, I should not have been the center of their attention, when their life choices were sitting amongst them.

If They’re Afraid to Talk Finances, DON’T MARRY THEM!!!

This is the biggest mistake couples make, not talking finances before moving the relationships to the next level. When he and/or she want to avoid such discussions, nine times out of ten it’s because they are not skilled in this area of life. And if they are not willing to be taught and learn, “then move on Martha move on“.

I had a friend and money was always a sore subject between she and her now ex-husband. She’d draft a budget, send him the spreadsheet with specific instruction on “not to spend money” because the account was down to $100 dollars and homeboy would have their account overdrawn by the end of the week. It was utterly exhausting for her and her financial health was tied to this aggravation.

After her divorce, she had to rebuild herself financially and resolved to never be with another man who lacked money management skills. And although she’s in a healthy relationship now, both emotionally and financially, she’s still paying off legal bills pending from her divorce.

Being in love can be a beautiful thing but when it comes down to the reality of a life together, watch how your partner spends money, saves money and handles money. If he or she is a financial disaster, weak and drowning, take heed to the red flag warnings before saying “I do”. It will hurt you in the end to have your financial stability destroyed for the lack of communication in this area of your relationship.

The movie Acrimony – A Spirit of Bitterness & Rage

I saw Tyler Perry’s movie Acrimony and was blown away by the full plot of the movie. The psychological thriller just opened in theatres yesterday (Friday March 30), and has already grossed $7.6 million, including $1 million from Thursday night previews.

The movies plot is: Melinda Gayle, a faithful wife (Taraji P. Henson), is tired of standing by her lazy husband (Lyriq Bent) and gives up on him and files for divorce just before he strikes the business deal of a lifetime. One he had waited ten years before succeeding. His new found money and success changes everything for Melinda as her now ex-husband had moved on. She becomes enraged when she finds out that he is engaged to another woman, Melinda loses control of her life and all hell breaks loose.

I don’t want to reveal any spoilers but Taraji P. goes crazy in the end.

The critics are harsh but I absolutely loved this film. Sad part about Melinda’s bitterness and rage is that, because of her husband’s past transgressions, she refused to trust and believe him at time he needed her too the most.

Al Sharpton Embraces Stephon Clark’s Brother & Slams White House for calling shooting a ‘local matter’

The Reverend Al Sharpton is not impressed with the White House’s response to the police overkill of an unarmed black man in Sacramento, California. 22-year-old Stephon Clark was shot 20 times after he was spotted hopping a fence into his grandmother’s backyard during a police foot chase.

Clark is suspected of attempting to break into a car and a home on 29th Street on March 18. Police say he fit the description of the suspect who wore a black hoodie. Two pursuing officers claim they mistook his cell phone for a gun.

Sharpton supported Clark’s family, including his brother Ste’vante Clark, at Clark’s funeral on Thursday.

The reverend condemned the White House for calling the police shooting a “local matter” rather than a federal rights violation.

“They have been killing black men all across the country,” said Sharpton. “We are going to start standing up. It’s time to stop this madness. We will make Donald Trump and the whole world deal with police misconduct. Stephon Clark has woke up the nation.” If the killing of Amadou Diallo didn’t wake this country up 19 years ago, it never will.
