More than 2,000 strong march to commemorate the funeral procession of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. 50 years ago to the day — the march started down Auburn Avenue toward downtown Atlanta at 12:55 p.m. Singing “I Ain’t Gonna Let Nobody Turn Me ‘Round” and “This Little Light of Mine,” the marchers were led by King’s granddaughter, Yolanda Renee King; his son, Martin III; his daughter, Bernice King; Robert Kennedy’s daughter, Kerry Kennedy; March for Our Lives organizer Jaclyn Corin; and King family members Isaac Farris, Alveda King Beal and Naomi King, widow of King’s brother, A.D. Also in the front ranks: the Rev. Al Sharpton and rapper T.I.
The 1.3-mile March for Humanity commemorated a portion of the original funeral procession from Ebenezer to Morehouse College. The 1968 procession was 4.3 miles. Today’s march ended at the state Capitol with a ceremony at Liberty Plaza.
Here we are some (60) sixty years later and Carolyn Bryant Donham (pictured above), the woman who lied on 14 year old Emmitt Louis Till which resulted in his brutal murder; admits that it was all a LIE!!! The now eighty two year old woman admits that her story was fabricated.
On the morning of August 24, 1955, Emmett Till, a 14-year-old black child from Chicago, skipped church in Money, Mississippi and went to a local grocery store. While there, he saw Carolyn Bryant, the 21-year-old white woman who owned the store with her husband Roy Bryant. Till supposedly whistled or flirted with Bryant. On the morning of August 28, 1955, Till was taken from the home of his uncle, whom he was visiting in Money, Mississippi and killed. Roy Bryant and his half-brother J. W. Milam were acquitted of the murder, but later admitted to it in Look Magazine.
Bryant never talked about her role in the murder until 2007, when she spoke with author Timothy Tyson. In the interview with Tyson, Bryant admitted that the story she told during the trial was a lie.
At the time of her interview with Tyson, Bryant was 72. She is still alive is now 82 yeas old. Her family wants to keep her current location private and she has not done any further interviews.
Carolyn Bryant Donhamis writing her own memoirs, which won’t be made public for another 30 Years. In the meantime, Emmitt Till never lived a full life, his life was brutally cut short behind a white racist woman and her LIE!!! His mother suffered, his cousins haunted and sixty years later, we get an admission to what was already known as a lie to begin with.
The saddest part of it all is, time has pasted, Till’s murderers are dead, the case is still open, yet justice never served.
While we all await and hold our breath for Attorney General Eric Holder and the Justice Department on two separate investigations, one sparked by the summer shooting of an unarmed teenager in Ferguson, Missouri, the department is going to first announce its findings in the killing of Trayvon Martin.
According to ABC News the Justice Department will not be filing charges against the self-appointed neighborhood watchman George Zimmerman for the killing of the unarmed teen.
Although it seems Martin was killed like yesterday, Thursday marks three years to the day since Trayvon was killed. Federal prosecutors concluded there is not enough sufficient evidence to prove Zimmerman, of Sanford, Fla., intentionally violated Martin’s civil rights, sources told ABC News.
In Sanford, race-related tensions had been simmering for nearly a century, but Martin’s death “was the proverbial ‘straw that broke the camel’s back,’” bringing “those issues to the surface,” the new Sanford police chief, Cecil Smith, recently told federal officials.
Privately and publicly, Justice Department officials have been telegraphing all along that they were unlikely to file charges against Zimmerman.
How disappointing, I’m glad Attorney General Eric Holder is resigning, yes he needs to hit theroad! Seems he failed to see the obvious handwriting on the wall.
