Cissy Houston Out Promoting Her New Book

Cissy-Houston-Book

Just two weeks shy of the anniversary death of her daughter Whitney Houston, Cissy Houston is making her rounds promoting her new memoir, “Remembering Whitney”.

The elderly mother of the late singer makes no qualms about how she thought Bobby Brown wasn’t good enough for her daughter.

“I tried to tell Nippy [Cissy’s nickname for Whitney] that I didn’t think Bobby was good for her.”

Cissy not only disses about her feelings regarding Bobby, but she chimes in on Bobbi Kristina as well. Bobbi Kristina is said to be a bit upset about how her grandmother writes of her worries that Whitney’s only child could possibly be lured into the trap of addiction. It’s well-known that Cissy Houston has been unhappy with stories about Bobbi Kristina’s hard partying — and allegations of drinking and drug use.

And although Cissy wrote the book as a loving reminder of what a great talent Whitney was, she also don’t want the way she died to define how she is remembered. Unfortunately “it will” because Whitney gained the world, only to lose her soul to drug abuse.

Cissy’s interview with Oprah airs tonight on OWN. Check your local listing for detailed show time.

Honoring Dr. M.L.King on Obama’s weekend

Washington-20130120-00573

I was in Washington, DC last weekend for the presidential inaugural and had a damn ball!

The highlight for me was the Martin Luther King memorial. I was a bit disappointed because king’s memorial is located on the other side of the capital behind the Washington monument. The walk was long and a struggle for so many senior citizens, but they were determined to make it, bless their hearts.

The weather was perfect on Saturday and we parked at the metro train station near our hotel in Maryland and hopped the metro train all day, which was the best way to get around Washington, DC.

That’s me, yours truly in the photo (ABOVE) in the midst of the crowd. The memorial was packed and it took half a day just to get there.

Later on that evening, we had dinner in Georgetown at an outdoor restaurant, bar and grill. The food was fabulous, I had the pasta.  🙂 I might share more pics after the snow break.

DJango Unchained, Jamie Foxx, Movie News, New Movie Release, What she said

DJango Unchained was OFF The Hook!!!!

Jamie_Foxx_DJango_Unchained

Forget what Spike Lee said about boycotting DJango unchained, he is not the author of what is an insult to another director’s creativity when it comes down to making movies. Spike Lee criticizes anyone who is doing what he’s done in “his heyday” and that is; producing a good film. He’s criticized Tyler Perry and quite frankly I’m tired of his two cents. Spike need to focus on his prized possession, the Knicks and Shut the hell up!!!

When I heard this movie was about slavery, I was Leary about going to see it thinking it was going to piss me off being reminded of those sad times in history. but I was surprisingly mistaken by the humor, romance, and candid story of this film and I loved it.

Written and Directed by Quentin Tarantino, Jamie Foxx is the real hero in the end, as his mentor Dr. King Schultz (played by Christopher Waltz – pictured with Foxx above) gives him the freedom as a slave, the knowledge as his mentor and some real fire arm power to go along with it…And although Quentin Tarantino has written the word “NIGGER” 176 times in his script, it was of no surprise to me because the word was as common then, as it is today.

Samuel-L-Jackson_DJango

This movie which star’s Leonardo DiCaprio, Samuel L. Jackson (whose character you’d love to despise), Kerry Washington, Christopher Waltz and Jamie Foxx as Django. Jackson’s character was a dedicated Uncle Tom, he was the overseer of his master’s house and hated his “own kind” (other slaves) as if he weren’t ever considered apart of them. He was a free slave who oversees the other slaves — named Stephen.

“DJango Unchained” is a must see movie, for those I guess who have a mind of their own!

Girl From The Gutter, by Kina…

This song is a bit deep. The lyrics are every woman’s anthem whose ever been scorned. Read the lyrics…

For all the things you said I’d never do
For all the things you said that were untrue
For all the times you made me feel alone
Said I’d never make it on my own

(chorus 1)

Things are lookin’ up for me now
Seems like Karma’s makin’ it’s rounds
Its my turn now, won’t be held down no
Karma’s gonna visit you too
You gotta pay for the things you put me through
I hope you do, I hope you do, yeah, yeah

(chorus 2)

I hope your hell is filled with magazines
And on every page you see a big picture of me
And under every picture the caption should read
Not bad for a girl from the gutter like me
For all the times you said “I got your back”
For all the times you stabbed me
For all the times you tried to hurt my pride
For all the pain I held down deep inside

(Chorus 1)

Things are lookin’ up for me now
Seems like Karma’s makin’ it’s rounds
Its my turn now, won’t be held down no
Karma’s gonna visit you too
You gotta pay for the things you put me through
I hope you do, I hope you do, yeah, yeah

(Chorus 2)

I hope your hell is filled with magazines
And on every page you see a big picture of me
And under every picture the caption should read
Not bad for a girl from the gutter like me
Needed to make me weak to make you feel stronger
I know y’all bitches think I’m somewhere dyin’ inside
O yeah poor Kina, she went home
She couldn’t take it no longer
But I’m, right here
I’m right here
I’m right here…

In 2013, women everywhere who’s ever been scorned or WRONGED will have their say! mock my words…This is for Toni Marie Ricci!!!! You will all find out who she is in 2013, so be sure and stay tuned.
