Is It Okay To Put White Women On The Covers Of Black Magazines?

photo

That’s essentially the question that Jada Pinkett-Smith posed to her Facebook friends recently.

There is a question I want to ask today. I’m asking this question in the spirit  of thinking outside of the box in order to open doors to new possibilities.  These possibilities may be realistic or unrealistic. I also want to make it  clear that there is no finger-pointing here. I pose this question with the hope  that it opens a discussion about how we can build a community for women based  upon us all taking a deeper interest in one another. An interest where skin  color, culture, and social class does not create barriers in sharing the  commonality of being… women.

With love and respect to all parties involved, my question is this…if we ask our  white sisters, who tend to be the guardians of the covers of mainstream  magazines, to consider women of color to grace these covers, should we not offer  the same consideration to white women to grace our covers? Should women extend  their power to other women simply because they are women? To my women of color,  I am clear we must have something of our own, but is it possible to share in the  spirit in which we ask our white sisters to share with us? I don’t know the  answer and would love to hear your thoughts.

What do you all think? Should white women grace the cover of African-American magazines such as, Essence, Ebony and Jet? Sound off and have a great weekend!

Are You in a relationship with the WRONG man? Tonite on “Conversations Of A Sistah”

Wrong_relationship

As I continue to celebrate women this Women’s History month, we will explore the types of relationships women seek to succeed.

Our relationships are very important to us and we jump through hoops and do all that we can to make these personal relationships work. But do these relationships work when we’re making the effort to succeed with them on our own?

Some women are attracted to bad boys; they may be alcoholics, married men, or men with an attitude. I believe some women like these elements of danger in their relationships, thinking they’re the one woman who will make a difference in that man’s life. They will be the one who will make him faithful. They will be the one who gets him sober or they will be the one to change him. That kind of thinking may be dangerous, when in all actuality ladies, YOU CANNOT CHANGE A MAN!!!!!

Women are smart, some women even successful; but are making all the wrong choices when it comes to choosing a man. Are you in a relationship with the right man? Are these many theories correct? That smart women are almost magnetically drawn to the wrong men?

Tune in Wednesday March 20, 2013 on “Conversations Of A Sistah” on “Conversations Live” as I discuss with my guest, Motivational Speaker, Author and Relationship Expert, ILinda Reese  as to why “Smart Women are making Wrong choices” in relationships!

Woman preaching with her breast exposed

My business administrator saw this video posted on my Facebook page yesterday and forwarded it to me for my opinion and response.

First of all, the woman in the video is being called a preacher but her title can’t be officially established, anyone can preach the Word of God and the devil knows scripture better than the best preachers. The Bible says to “try the Spirit and know whether it be of God” 1 John: 4:1.

In order to deliver anyone lost, you must first speak the Word of truth and she is indeed speaking truth, watered down with a bunch of Amen’s however, her breast are inappropriately exposed. The Bible states; for women to dress modestly that means, in a proper, well-mannered fashion—certainly not in a provocative, outlandish or excessive way. This woman in the video is clearly out-of-place, which probably explains why she’s sitting in somebody’s kitchen and not standing in the platform of a church or institution.

She calls her ministry, “the gospel from a stripper’s pole”

Her message is: “A Forked Tongue” deliver me from these back door preachers!

Women who’ve changed the game! Tonite on “Conversations Of A Sistah”

Presentation1

As we start our month-long celebration commemorating Women’s History month, I will discuss women who’ve changed the game; women who’ve contributed much to our history using their talents and greatness. Some of these women sacrificed much, as they’ve paved the way for others. Women’s History is my topic of discussion for tonight, Wednesday March 6, 2013 at 8:00 PM on Conversations Of A Sistah.

Coco Channel, Dr., Mae C. Jameson, Amelia Earhart, Rosa Parks and Maya Angelou just to name a few, are women who have done great things to contribute to women’s history by changing the course in history in making a difference.

So join me tonight on “Conversations Of A Sistah” on “Conversations Live” as I delve into this topic and add my two cents with great commentary.

Are you doing great things to change the course of history? As usual send us your comments and/or questions to the show at: conversations@optonline.net

Michael Jordan slapped with paternity lawsuit!

jordan2f-3-web

A woman by the name of Pamela Smith filed a paternity suit against basketball legend Michael Jordan on Feb. 6 in Fulton County, GA,  according to a TMZ report.

Smith claims she became pregnant after allegedly having an affair with Jordan in 1995, giving birth to her now 16-year-old son Grant Pierce Jay Jordan Reynolds, also known as Taj, in June 1996. That’s a long damn name for her son, can you all agree?

Smith said “in her legal docs she welcomes a paternity test to prove Jordan’s the dad. She wants full custody and child support. She also wants Jordan to pay  the kid’s medical expenses,” says the gossip site. Also adding she would like  her son to legally have the Jordan last name.

Jordan, 50, would have had the alleged affair while still married to Juanita Vanoy, the couple ended their 17-year marriage in 2006. I see Juanita dropped the last name Jordan once she divorced Michael too.

Jordan is set to walk down the aisle for the second time next month to marry girlfriend Yvette Prieto, a Cuban-American model.
