Sylvia Woods of famed soul food eatery passed away yesterday…

She is famous in Harlem for her fried chicken, barbecue ribs, macaroni and cheese, collard greens and other soul food delectable’s. And although she fed the famous, important dignitaries and ordinary people, her restaurant is like home because she remained humble.

Sylvia Woods put Harlem on the map, was even mentioned on television shows and in movies all because she gave her restaurant business her all. Whether you went to take your family to dinner, or politicians having summit meetings of black leadership, Sylvia’s was the first place that people thought of in Black America.

Other soul food restaurants followed her but there is no place like Sylvia’s. Her restaurant is the place that churches pack on any given Sunday afternoon. It’s my favorite spot to relax with my crew on any given Friday night. Sylvia’s is a family restaurant and dining there is liking dining at home, dining with family., in a comfortable atmosphere.

Sylvia Woods (pictured center above with two of her grandchildren), passed away yesterday at the ripe old age of 86, surrounded by family and those she loved. I will miss seeing her because she was always there. She greeted my staff and I, when we celebrated my business anniversary at Sylvia’s in 2010.

Rest in paradise Sylvia, 😦 as your legacy lives on…

George Zimmerman Said: “It was all in God’s plan to kill Trayvon Martin”

George Zimmerman sat down and did an interview on Fox News Channel’s “Hannity” and this was his first since he killed unarmed teen, Trayvon Martin with a single shot to the chest on Feb. 26.

The self-appointed “Neighborhood watchman” said “It was all in God’s plan to kill Trayvon that night”.

During the interview, Zimmerman – who was arrested a month after the shooting and charged with second-degree murder – said he shot Martin as a last resort after the teen broke his nose, slammed his head into the concrete, told him he was going to die and reached for Zimmerman’s gun.

The volunteer watchman said he was not following the teen but keeping “an eye on him” when Martin confronted and then attacked him.

Zimmerman continues to apologize to the Martin’s for Trayvon’s death but they are not accepting his apology. And maybe that’s because the Martin’s know that Zimmerman’s apology is not sincere.

As far as Zimmerman’s comments about “killing Trayvon being all in God’s plan?” the Martin’s responded: “I don’t understand what God he worships? It’s not the same God I worship.”

I found Zimmerman’s interview and statements both cruel, heartless and antagonizing. It’s as if he wants to provoke hurt and anger. His comments pissed me off personally. It’s like he keeps pouring salt into a very open, fresh and hurtful wound. Zimmerman spoke as if he has no regret. In such a controversial case and highly sensitive situation as this, Zimmerman should not be speaking at all.

I hope the prosecutors in this case use the tape of that “Hannity” interview to fry his ass in the name of Justice. And “HELL NO” it was not in God’s plan for this psychopathic killer to take Trayvon’s life, it was the devil’s plan!!!!

President Obama delivers with a kiss…

President Obama was booed last night as he and First Lady Michelle Obama were watching the USA vs. Brazil men’s basketball exhibition and the arena’s “Kiss Cam” spotlighted them during the second quarter. The crowd booed Obama for failing to kiss the First Lady for the crowd.

But the fine ass President of the United States had a much better second half and second chance. The First Couple got another shot on the “Kiss Cam” during the fourth quarter and this time the President’s smooch was a success (above).

The crowd responded with a thunderous cheer, and a pro-Obama chant of “Four more years!” could be heard throughout the arena.

Aw, the power of real love.

Jackson “4” on tour and will perform tonight without Michael…

The remaining members (minus one), from one of music’s iconic families will take the stage at the famous Apollo Theater tonight for the first time since the death of their beloved brother and lead singer, Michael. Michael passed away three years ago (June 25, 2009) after overdosing on a lethal injection of propofol.

But tonight, Marlon, Jermaine, Jackie and Tito, will carry the famous “Jackson 5” torch at the Apollo Theatre, as their show comes as part of a full national roadshow, dubbed the “Unity Tour.” This is the brothers’ first sustained tour since the ancient days of the “Victory Tour,” back in 1984. By the way, I was at that show.

Randy (not part of the original Jackson 5 but a later Jackson 5 member, who is not pictured above), chose not to participate in the tour.

“We respect his decision — leave it at that,” the Jackson brothers said: “Next time around, hopefully he’ll be there.”

Others who have criticized the very idea of The Jackson’s performing their songs without Michael, seem to be appalled by the idea of the “Jackson 4” touring. As for those fans who feel the Jackson “4” shouldn’t be touring without the complete group, the brothers had this to say:

“Those who feel that way don’t have to show up,”. “We listened to our fans and they wanted us to do this.”

What do you all think? should the Jackson 4, be touring without Michael and Randy? I want to hear your opionions…In the meantime the show at the Apollo theatre is sold out!

Jerry Sandusky found “Guilty” on 45 Counts!

Former assistant Penn State coach Jerry Sandusky, 68, was found guilty on 45 counts of sexual abuse. This was the job, of course, at which Sandusky moon lighted, from his full-time job as a pedophile, abusing children over years and somehow managing to hide in plain sight at Penn State.

Sandusky used his status as a Penn State coach to molest young boys inside Penn State sports facilities for over a decade due to the culture of silence that prevailed among school officials and coaches at Penn State.

“Rot in hell” was shouted from someone in the crowd who was standing outside as Sandusky was led away in handcuffs, before he was put into the backseat of a police cruiser, on his way to living out the rest of his miserable life in prison.

Sandusky was expressionless as Juror No. 4, the foreman, read the verdict finding him guilty of 25 felonies and 14 first-degree felonies. But one of his accusers, Victim 6, broke down in tears. His bail was revoked, and he will await sentencing in about three months. He was also ordered to immediately register as a sex offender.

Jerry Sandusky is facing 442 years and will most likely die in prison.
