The Gifts of a poet? Tonight on “Conversations Of A Sistah”

What is a poet? We know what the common answer to that question would be: A poet is a person who writes poetry. However, a poet’s work can be literal, meaning that his/and or her work is derived from a specific event, or metaphorical, meaning that his/or her work can take on many different meanings and forms.

Poets exist in nearly every language and have produced works that vary greatly in different cultures and different times. Poets have used various styles that have changed through the course of literary history, resulting in a history of poets as diverse as the literature they have produced. Some poets write poetry for pleasure or as an occupation.

Poetry can be written in many forms, even from the poet’s imagination however, a genuine poet will write from experience and feelings which altars the soul.

April is National Poetry month, so join me tonight at 8:00 PM on “Conversations Of A Sistah” via “Conversations Live” as we explore some great poets of our time.

The 5th man in the Eddie Long sex scandal…Tonight on “Conversations Of A Sistah”

Centino_Kemp

One of the accusers, who were involved in the Bishop Eddie Long sex scandal, published a new book that details their alleged abusive relationship.

Centino Kemp (pictured above), is one of the five accusers who claims Long, an Atlanta-based mega church bishop, had an abusive gay relationship with him when he was a teenager.

The five accusers and Long, who has denied the allegations, settled out of court but Kemp decided to speak out in his new book “First Lady” which was co-written by T. Benson Glover. The tell-all biography is currently Amazon’s eight most popular non-fiction book for Kindle, the websites’ e-reading device.

Kemp, 22, was not a member of the New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, which Long headed in Atlanta, nor was he on any of the lawsuits against the bishop.

Aside from the scandal, he was born on May 7, 1989 in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and raised in the Bahamas. Kemp is known for being a promiscuous character and has appeared in several minor film roles and leading roles in dramatic plays such as; ‘Why do fools fall in love’, ‘Dear Liza’, ‘AIDS’ and ‘Don’t be stupid’ in the Bahamas. Centino is one of the most determined, original, genuine and talented young men to hail from the Bahamas.

Tune in tonight at 8:00 P.M. on “Conversations of A Sistah” via “Conversations Live” as my special guest Centino Kemp discusses his book and his alleged affair with Eddie Long.

Are there any women of character, courage and committment? Tonight on “Conversations Of A Sistah”

img_0011

In my conclusion of Women’s History month, I have to ask the question; are there any women of character, courage and commitment left? Why are these young girls looking to mentors they cannot physically touch to demonstrate character? And these are not positive mentors so to speak.

Instead of looking to women in their families and communities as exemplary role models, these young ladies are NOT looking past what they see on TV. When they need real positive, God fearing women who can realistically impact their lives.

Ladies, can you reflect on your own life – are you living a life that you would be proud to share?

Join me tonight at 8:00 P.M. on Conversations of A Sistah via Conversations Live as I talk about recognizing the character, commitment and courage of the woman in the mirror or the women in your life.

Can’t wait to see you on the air!

It’s Women’s History month: What kind of Legacy are you imparting ladies? Tonight on “Conversations of A Sistah”

Black-Women-Friends-1

How are we being influenced in today’s society? Why are some women trying to live out the fantasy’s of characters such as; Olivia Pope and Mary Jane Paul? Why is it that sex sells while morality and virtue are frowned upon?

Why are young women quoting “Drunk in love” by Beyoncé instead or quoting words of empowerment by Maya Angelou? Who and what is influencing your legacy? For that which is premeditated will eventually give birth to your visions.

Join me tonight at 8:00 PM on “Conversations Of A Sistah” via “Conversations Live” as I kick off Women’s History month by discussing legacy’s that will live on and those powerful women who’ve influenced mine.

I’ll see you on the air!
