Action thriller, New Movie Release

No Good Deed…Extremely unrealistic!

images

Yesterday I saw the crime thriller directed by Sam Miller and written by Aimée Lagos, featuring Idris Elba and Taraji P. Henson.

Idris Elba (Colin Evans) who is a convicted killer seeking parole and when he’s denied, he kills the two deputies transporting him back to a Tennessee prison and escapes without one all-out police alert or news bulletin for his capture. I mean NO ONE is looking for this convicted cop killer who shows up in Atlanta a day or so later and succeeds at killing his ex-fiancé.

After crashing a truck he had stolen in a very bad rain storm, Colin stumbles upon a home where Taraji P. Henson (Terry) lives with her husband and two children. Only Terry’s husband, played by Henry Simmons (Jeff), is away on an alleged weekend birthday trip with his father. Terry who is a “work at home” lawyer and established prosecutor, is so caught off guard when this tall, dark, handsome stranger rings her doorbell, that she not only leave him at her open front door several times but after inviting him in; she leaves him sitting alone in her dining room while she wonders off continuing her routine while tending to her children.

So what is so unrealistic about this film? Let’s see:

  1. A black man killing two deputies, then escaping on a transport back to prison would’ve been caught by sun down, because his face would’ve been plastered all over the news on every channel.
  2. The first place authorities scope is the home of anyone the escape convict is looking to avenge.
  3. Colin’s ex-fiancé laid dead without anyone ever noticing she’s missing until the end.
  4. Terry opens her front door to a stranger without question or reluctance on a dark stormy night, even though she’s home alone with her two children.
  5. Terry with so much trust and confidence invites this fine stranger into her home and carelessly leave him alone several times as if he’s a trusted friend.

Terry’s behavior in the movie annoyed the hell out of me, simply because she was not only careless while jeopardizing the safety of her children in her home but she was trusting and distracted based upon Colin’s looks. Colin’s presentation blinded her to the fact that, she never suspected he could be a killer. The fact that she was extremely naïve in this situation as a lawyer and prosecutor with experience in the behaviors of a killer, made it all the more unrealistic.

There were several cries to protest this movie because it supposedly portrayed black men in a negative light. Colin a convict who brutally kills his ex-fiancé who happens to be white. Terry a desperate, attention seeking, deprived, stay at home mom, so distracted to get her groove on that she jeopardizes the safety of her children. I didn’t see the reason for the boycott of this film at all, I found it entertaining and suspenseful with a great storyline, however unrealistically scripted. The producer paired two awesome actors in an intense dramatic thriller as characters who vaguely resemble anything realistic to take their roles seriously.

Matthew Knowles Fathered a 2nd child!

A second woman has come forward and claimed Mathew Knowles, 63, fathered her child.

A new report claims that former model TaQoya Branscomb, 30, has a child that DNA tests showed is a 99.9% fathered by Matthew’s Knowles, which means Beyonce, 33, and Solange Knowles, 28, have a second sibling that they knew nothing about. This new information brings Matthew’s total love children to a count of TWO.

How embarrassing!

Matthew was forced to claim a son, Nixon, who was conceived while he was still married to Beyonce and Solange’s mom, Tina Knowles. Tina then filed for divorce after 31 years of marriage.

TaQoya’s child belongs to Matthew Knowles, therefore she will be seeking child support from Beyonce’s former manager but likely will not receive the same amount due to the fact he is no longer making big bucks on behalf of Beyonce.

Beyonce was forthright in cutting managerial ties with her father, this way she is not doling out cash in support of her father’s whorish and philandering ways.

Blackout, Movement

BlackOut Friday starts…September 12, 2014!

blackout-wide

The results weren’t on CNN or Fox News however, there were reports nationwide showing that #BlackOutMonday was a huge success!

I read some of your comments here on the Ceo’s blog from my last post regarding Blackout Monday, where some of you thought and even believed, these efforts would be of no avail. Well, I’m excited to report that SOME OF YOU WERE WRONG!

Due to the huge success and momentum from this movement, tens of thousands are gearing up to continue the BLACKOUT EACH AND EVERY FRIDAY. This means you can/should ONLY SUPPORT AND BUY from black-owned businesses each Friday, beginning this Friday September 12th! I will admit this will be a huge challenge for me especially since, I eat out almost every Friday at diversified restaurants of our choice.

The expansion of this movement began three weeks ago, as a result of a grass roots effort that continues to gain steam exponentially, since the murder of Mike Brown in Ferguson, Missouri on August 9. The Twitter hashtag #eachandeveryfriday is being used to promote the ongoing event in an attempt to galvanize African-Americans to redirect their money with the hope of making things better for their communities.

Keep it going #EachandEveryFriday! Change is destined to come.

Politics & Policy, as a ‘Gay Republican Leader’ tonight on “Conversations Of A Sistah”

John_Traier

The GOP is still struggling with the morality issue, the evolution of same sex marriage. While Democrats have moved quickly away from the idea that gay and lesbian relations are morally wrong, Republicans are moving much slower. In fact, they’re barely more accepting of homosexuality today than they were a decade ago.

The morality issue is a key one for Republicans. While it’s possible that Republicans who think homosexuality is morally wrong could still back same sex marriage, it’s much, much more unlikely that they will ever get to that point. Morality is, after all, the prevailing reason that people give for opposing gay marriage.

For now, Republicans who want to expand the party’s appeal to the gay community and avoid being on the wrong side of a fast-moving social issue will likely simply say that it’s an issue that should be left to the states.

Are GOP members in denial of no homosexuals in their Party? Will the party continue to ignore that same sex marriages exist?

This is not the case with John M. Traier (pictured above), who began his career as a young republican in 1976 and has been involved in the Republican Party for 38 years and counting! John has spent his political career advancing Republican ideals and working to get Republican candidates elected into office.

John has been exceptionally successful in this position and became Passaic County’s Republican Chairman in 2012. John is openly gay and engaged to his partner of 27 years.

Join me tonight on “Conversations Of A Sistah” via “Conversations Live” as I converse with Mr. Traier about his party’s position on homosexuality, same sex marriage and his goal of expanding the party base to a diverse groups of individuals.
