On July 19, 2015 Samuel DuBose was shot in the head point blank range by a University of Cincinnati police officer during a routine traffic stop. On July 10th Sandra Bland, a 28 yr. old Chicago native allegedly committed suicide after being illegally arrested in a Waller county Texas jail following a minor traffic violation. This is just to name a few.

You Can’t Make a Man! Tonight on “Conversations Of A Sistah”

SANDWICH

Some women set out to reinvent, restore and/or build a new make and model of the men they meet, date and sometimes marry. They take full credit for steering and investing in his full potential, especially if the outcome equals his or their success.

Women love hard and will believe in a man’s every ability if they make it their mission in life, which is why the saying goes “Behind every successful man there stands his woman“. After all; JFK had Jaqueline, Ronald had Nancy, Bill had Hillary and Barack has Michelle.

A woman can also be the backbone behind a man’s downfall, by supporting his illusions and reinforcing his denials, ignoring his weaknesses while mastering his insecurities. Whatever the man’s make-up, his wife will always be the reflection of his success or failures.

The bottom line is, “You cannot make a man!” and I’ll explain why? Join me tonight at 6:30 p.m. on “Conversations Of A Sistah” via blog talk radio!

The Confederate Flag….A Symbol of Slavery or Racism? On the next “Conversations Of A Sistah”

battle-flag-2a

As you know, the uproar over the Confederate flag began last month after photos surfaced online of church shooter Dylan Roof waving the flag. It was the execution of nine (9) individuals in a church in Charleston, South Carolina to change the wave of this conversation.

The South Carolina Senate voted Monday to remove the Confederate flag from a pole on the Statehouse grounds, though the proposal still needs approval from the state House and the governor.

The bill requires a two-thirds vote in each chamber; the Senate approved it 37-3. Gov. Nikki Haley has said she wants the flag to come down and will sign the bill.

Monday’s vote comes less than a week after the 15th anniversary of South Carolina taking the flag off the Capitol dome where it flew since the early 1960s and moving it to beside a monument honoring Confederate soldiers.

Join me this Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. on “Conversations Of A Sistah” via blog talk radio for my commentary on “The Confederate Flag….A Symbol of Slavery or Racism?”

Author Vincent Ellis White on “Conversations Of A Sistah”

untitled

Due to the “father factor”, affecting most of the social issues in America today-from police brutality, to youth delinquency and academic failures-breakdowns in the system have become all too prevalent. This underscores the fact that children with involved fathers do better across every statistic on child well-being than their peers in father-absent homes.

Author of “Finding Chris My Father”, A New Book About Absentee Fathers That’s changing Thousands of Lives. A stable at-home dad was something yearned for by author/advocate Vincent Ellis White (pictured above) when he was a kid. Seeing how it led to rage and rebellion in his own life, he now focuses on mentoring, healthy family advocacy, & strengthening families by way of creating awareness and open dialogue to help address similar problems faced by youths dealing with the father factor.

The Richmond, Virginia native has become an inspiration to a rapidly growing audience with a book and a stage play that has made even hardened ex-cons stand up and weep. The realization that the frequently incarcerated father he knew, troubled, or not, was not his blood-kin filled his teenage years with anger and confusion.

Tune into “Conversations Of A Sistah” on Blog Talk Radio at 6:30 p.m. tonight as I welcome the author and discuss his new book “Finding Chris My Father” .
