Amber Guyger – Guilty or did she stand her ground? Tonight on “Conversations Of A Sistah”

Amber Guyger, 31 shot and killed Botham Jean in his apartment in September 2018. Guyger’s story is that she entered Jean’s apartment thinking it was hers, and believed she encountered a burglar who might kill her. Jean’s apartment was one floor above Guyger’s. Prosecutors argue that Guyger saw several numerous signs indicating she was on wrong floor and at the wrong apartment, including a skylight, a neighbor’s decorative planter, Jean’s red doormat and differences in the hallways.

Jurors, who began deliberating on Monday, were instructed to find whether Guyger is guilty of murder, manslaughter or neither. Prosecutors objected to applying the castle doctrine because Guyger was in Jean’s home — not the other way around. Although the judge allowed it and the defense leaned on it, it didn’t work and Guyger was found guilty of murder.

We’re back for season ‘7’ of “Conversations Of A Sistah” on Blog Talk radio.

Tonight’s conversations comes after American Idol singer Fantasia Barrino explain “why some women can’t keep a man” after discussing gender roles  in an interview on the Breakfast Club, Monday September 16..

“We need more men to stand up and lead the way,” she said. “Most women are trying to be the leader, that’s why you can’t find a man. You can’t be the king in the house. Fall back and be the queen and let your man lead the way.”

The mom-of-2, who is happily married to Kendall Taylor, continued:

“I feel like it’s a generational thing, and we can talk and we can go real deep on that, I don’t need to start that. But it’s a generational curse in how society has placed our men, and women have to stand up and be the mother and the father and the provider. So now, you’re so bad you can’t be told nothing that when the right man comes, you lose him because you’re trying to be the man.”

A Women’s Right to Choose or Not? Tonight on “Conversations Of A Sistah”

Roe vs. Wade gave women the right to choose abortion. We can all be sensitive to the devastating impact of rape and abuse on women and the pressure to abort when the mother’s life is at risk or she’s been violated sexually.

We are also very aware of the fact that since 1973, Roe vs. Wade set a precedent where abortion is legal across the country up to the point of viability.

But Roe vs. Wade is currently being challenged with new laws in the states, and the number of states with pending highly restrictive abortion laws is growing. On Friday, Missouri’s legislature passed a bill to outlaw almost all abortions after eight weeks. This came on the heels of Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey signing into law a near total abortion ban law in her state.

Do Women still have the right to choose or NOT?

Alabama’s abortion law is the most extreme. The legislation carries a life sentence of 99 years behind bars for abortionists and pregnant women who seek their services.

Republican-led states Georgia, Ohio, Mississippi, and Kentucky have all passed so-called “heartbeat bills” outlawing abortions if a fetal heartbeat is detected.

Missouri’s Senate just passed a heartbeat bill that outlaws all abortions after 8 weeks.

Georgia’s bill threatens to punish women even if they leave the state to get an abortion.

Single Mothers…A Man Should be Secondary on Tonight’s “Conversations Of A Sistah”

Maleah Davis, the 4-year-old Houston girl who has been missing for 10 days, was reported missing by her caretaker. The caretaker gave a detailed account of what happened. But as the story unraveled, the caretaker becomes the suspect. The child has been missing since May 4th and hasn’t been found yet.

Her mother’s ex-fiancé was taking care of Maleah (pictured above), and said he and the girl were kidnapped by a trio of mysterious men near Houston, Texas. But police are finding more holes in the ex-fiancé’s story — as well as blood in his home and signs of decomposition in his car.

Tonight’s conversation is a call for single women to STOP leaving their defenseless minor children in the hands of boyfriends and/or other males who are not the child’s biological fathers.

“When the media controls the narrative” Tonight on “Conversations Of A Sistah”

Last week Facebook and Instagram banned, the honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan from its platform.

The controversial Nation of Islam minister, was among several conservative voices banned from the social media platforms for being “dangerous,” according to Facebook’s ruling.

While there are some extreme voices dominating the social media platform, the same can be said for the voices and images on television. But because the media controls the narrative, they control the platforms.

Minister Farrakhan is the leader of the Nation of Islam which is considered a hate group. The Southern Poverty Law Center cited Farrakhan as “deeply racist, anti-Semitic and anti-LGBT.” Farrakhan’s Facebook page was deleted and all of its content purged from the social media giant’s servers, along with the social media pages of his religious organization.

“We’ve always banned individuals or organizations that promote or engage in violence and hate, regardless of ideology. The process for evaluating potential violators is extensive and it is what led us to our decision to remove these accounts today.”
