President Obama gets heat for saying Kamala Harris is ‘best looking attorney general’

CA_Attorney General_Obama

The media is all abuzz because President Barack Obama said California Attorney General Kamala Harris was the “best looking attorney general in the country”.

The unexpected comment ruffled the feathers of some observers and caused a  commotion on social media such as Twitter. Obama set up the remark with a heap of more conventional praise for Harris, 48,  who campaigned for him last year. “She is brilliant and she is dedicated and she is tough,” Obama said.

What came next was a compliment, but what was heard around the world was taken as and considered an uncharacteristic slip by the smooth-talking President Obama. The President’s critics immediately took it to Twitter where some Twitter users blasted his quip as “awkward” and even “sexist.”

I guess just about any and every thing that comes out of President Barack Obama’s mouth is easily misconstrued and twisted, by his “haters and constituents”.

President Obama is a politician is all and he’s learned how to play the game well and that includes schmoozing when he has too.

Do you think the President’s compliments about the attractive CA Attorney General were awkward and inappropriate? Sound off!

President Obama’s ‘Twin’ Cast as ‘Satan’ in History Channel’s ‘The Bible’

obama-the-bible_550x310

Some people are ridiculous when it comes down to their exaggerations. There is supposedly a striking resemblance between Satan in the History Channel’s series ‘The Bible’ and President Barack Obama.

I don’t see it; but the media is having a field day with it by saying there’s a comparison. The show’s ‘Satan’ character is dark-skinned, while President Barack Obama, who is mixed, is more fair-skinned.

From ONTD:

Coincidence, or not-so-subtle political commentary? A major hit already, History Channel’s 10-part miniseries The Bible is stirring up extra attention for its casting. The role of Satan, i.e. the bad guy, is played by the actor Mohamen Mehdi Ouazanni, who, thanks to makeup and other production tricks, bears a startling resemblance to President Barack Obama.

The resemblance was pointed out on Twitter while the show still aired on Sunday. Glenn Beck, the Christian conservative broadcaster who has called the series “one of the most important shows in decades,” sent out a tweet with a screenshot. Beck, who refuses to use Obama’s name, referred to the president as “That Guy.”

Michelle Obama Covers Vogue Magazine

President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama talk to Jonathan Van Meter about their life as parents, their marriage, and their vision for America’s families.

In the in-depth article, Mrs. Obama, and her husband Barack, discuss their lives together and how his presidency has drastically altered the dynamics of their marriage.

The president often forgets that the world doesn’t revolve around him. Barack says Mrs. Obama constantly reminds him to make time for their daughters, Malia and Sasha:

And what Michelle has done is to remind me every day of the virtues of order.” The First Lady lets out a big laugh. “Being on time. Hanging up your clothes. Being intentional about planning time with your kids. In some ways I think . . . we’re very different people, and some of that’s temperamental, some of it is how we grew up. Michelle grew up in a model nuclear family: mom, dad, brother… My mother was this wonderful spirit, and she was adventurous but not always very well-organized. And, so, what that means is that I’m more comfortable with change and adventure and trying new things, but the downside of it is, sometimes—particularly when we were early on in our marriage—I wasn’t always thinking about the fact that my free-spirited ways might be having an impact on the person I’m with. And conversely, early in our marriage, Michelle provided this sense of stability and clarity and certainty about things, but sometimes she resisted trying something new just because it might seem a little scary or push her out of her comfort zone. I think what we’ve learned from each other is that sense of. . . .” “Balance,” she says. “There’s no doubt I’m a better man having spent time with Michelle. I would never say that Michelle’s a better woman, but I will say she’s a little more patient

Black Men In History Tonight on “Conversations Of A Sistah”

Garvey_Douglas

There was Marcus Garvey and Frederick Douglas. Garvey a Jamaican political leader, publisher, journalist, entrepreneur, and orator who was a staunch proponent of the Black nationalism and Pan-Africanism movements. Douglas, an American social reformer, orator, writer and statesman who was a firm believer in the equality of all people, whether black, female, Native American, or recent immigrant, famously quoted as saying, “I would unite with anybody to do right and with nobody to do wrong.”

Malcolm_X_

And then there was Malcolm X, an African-American Muslim minister and human rights activist. To his admirers, he was a courageous advocate for the rights of blacks, a man who indicted white America in the harshest terms for its crimes against black Americans. Detractors accused him of preaching racism, black supremacy, and violence. He has been called one of the greatest and most influential African-Americans in history.

At the same time there was Martin Luther King, Jr. an American clergyman, activist, and leader in the African-American Civil Rights Movement. He is best known for his role in the advancement of civil rights using nonviolence and civil disobedience. King has become a national icon in the history of American progressivism. On October 14, 1964, King received the Nobel Peace Prize for combating racial inequality through nonviolence.

15-year-old girl who performed at Obama’s Inauguration shot and killed in Chicago

Hidaya_Pendleton_ripA 15-year-old girl who performed with her high school band for President Obama at his 2nd Inauguration last week was shot and killed in the Kenwood area of Chicago Tuesday.

Hidaya Pendleton died just blocks from the high school she attended. The teenager was an honor student, a well-liked volleyball player, and majorette.

Pendleton was among a group of 10 to 12 teenagers seeking shelter from the rain under a canopy in a park on the 4500 block of South Oakenwald Avenue around 2:30 p.m., when a gunman jumped a fence, and opened fire on the teens.

Pendleton was shot once in the back. She was pronounced dead at the University of Chicago Comer Children’s Hospital. Another boy was hit in the leg. He was also taken to Comer Children’s Hospital. He is expected to recover from his injuries.

Police said Pendleton had no gang affiliations, but several of the teens she was with were believed to be known gang members.

It’s a shame; President Obama shed tears for the 20 children who died at Sandy Hook, but he has no tears to shed for the hundreds of black children who were gunned down in his own backyard since he’s been president.
