Why Are More Women Choosing to Marry Themselves? Tonight on “Conversations Of A Sistah”

It’s a celebration of being single and thoroughly enjoying it, therefore many women are jumping on the “I me wed” and choosing to marry themselves? Women are tiried of listening to or even believing whatever society’s messages are about being happily married. Women no longer believe they are not enough if they are not with someone else.

The notion of marrying oneself entered popular consciousness in the 2003 episode of Sex and the City in which Carrie Bradshaw, its protagonist, announced she was fed up with forking out money to celebrate her friends’ life choices, but never her own.

Join Author, Blogger and Host, Tracy L. Bell at 6:30 p.m EST on the next “Conversations Of A Sistah” for her commentary on “Why are more women choosing to marry themselves?”

Hope we’ll meet you on the air!!

Interracial Relationships Tonight on “Conversations Of A Sistah”

1310758452-76We are seeing more and more interracial relationships today then ever before, which asks the question: are more black women open to dating and marrying outside of their race for financial security and stability? Does a white man have more to offer? Or is this a media influence to destroy the images that love between black men and women still exist?

Dating and marrying outside of one’s race was historically a taboo in the United States. It was formally declared legal in the United States of America in 1967, when the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in the case of Loving vs. the state of Virginia. Since this case interracial unions has been fully legal in all U.S. states.

black women white man[11]History has continuously gone through paradigm shifts due to war, laws, new generations and social movements. Interracial relationships between black and whites have been in US history since the beginning of the Atlantic slave trade, however they have gradually moved to the forefront and became more prevalent and public through television and the media. We are seeing more interracial couples in television ads, in movies and in the media like never before.

Ads are powerful and programming is real!!! You remember the Cheerios commercial featuring an interracial family—a white mother, black father and their daughter? Yeah well that ad stirred up some racist controversy.

Tune in tonight at 6:30 p.m. for “Conversations Of A Sistah” via blog talk radio, as I explore interracial relationships in 2016. We will be entertaining your comments on this subject in our studios at 1-917-889-7872. Don’t forget to press “1” to speak with the host.

Polygamy in 2016….Ladies Would you share your husband?

polygamy_1490320cPolygamy and Bigamy is illegal in the U.S., yet some people are practicing this way of living as if it is the new norm. Essentially they are the same in the aspect of having more than one wife/spouse.

Over the last few years there have been a number of television shows regarding the polygamist lifestyle. This has led some to wonder whether polygamy may be legal anywhere in the U.S. It also raises questions about why bigamy is outlawed and whether this is a trend that may be changing.

Is polygamy the next fight in marriage equality?

Currently, every state has a law outlawing polygamy. Additionally, the federal government has several laws that also criminalize the act of being married to more than one person. Enforcement of these laws is relatively difficult given the often secretive nature of many polygamists and the fact that most will have only one marriage on paper.

The question of polygamy is an interesting one in that most people today view polygamy as immoral while the Bible nowhere explicitly condemns it. Several prominent men in the Old Testament were polygamists. Abraham, Jacob, David, Solomon, and others all had multiple wives.

Tune in tonight at 6:30 p.m. EST on “Conversations Of A Sistah” on blog talk radio as I tackle the subject “Polygamy in 2016” with my special guest Azad Chaiwala (pictured left), a polygamist of polygamy.com and Bishop Andre’ C. Alston (pictured right), Pastor of Antioch Christian Tabernacle. I’m sure there will be opposing views from my special guest. What do you think?
