The legendary Melba Moore!

Tony Award winner, Soprano songbird, and 3-time Grammy nominee, Melba Moore who has conquered Broadway in memorable roles such as, HAIR (1967), PURLIE (1970) and became the first Black woman to inhabit the role of Fantine in LES MISERABLES (1995) has conquered it all.

Born October 29, 1945, Beatrice Melba Smith, Moore grew up in the Harlem section of New York until age nine, when her mother remarried, jazz pianist Clement Leroy Moorman and the family relocated to Newark, New Jersey.  Her countless hits such as “Read my lips”, “This is it” “Fallin” and my personal favorite, “You stepped into my life” has helped to make her a global success for more than fifty years.

Now in her riveting new book, “This is it” Ms. Moore takes you on the highs and lows of her career and talk about how she’s had to pivot time and again in an industry that didn’t always know what to do with a petite powerhouse with a big voice.

Melba’s new memoirs, “This Is It – Marvelous…And Getting Better”, will be available in November 2025 via Amazon Books. Ms. Moore shares many aspects of her career and life, as well as how she navigated the successes and challenges that came her way.

This is it….

Melba will join me this week on “Conversations Of A Sistah” as we discuss her book and illustrious career. Sound off in the comment section below, with the questions you’d like me to ask Ms. Moore.

Poetry is a gift for some, with an expression of feelings and ideas by the use of distinctive style and rhythm. Poems are collectively a genre of literature, versification and metrical composition, it can be a spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings.

PoetryAt the most basic level, poetry is an experience produced by two elements of language: “sense” and “sound.” It is to evoke meaning in addition to thought and/or experience.

When I released my analog of poetry last August, it was a collection of  thought provoking experience throughout years.

Join me tonight me tonight at 6:30 pm on “Conversations Of A Sistah” via blogtalkradio.com as I kick off National Poetry month with a discussion of poetry and how it evokes thought and meaning. I will share some of my favorite poetry from my book “These Things” The Diary Of A Poet!

All “Conversation links” in this post will access tonight’s show.

Toni Braxton reveals abortion in new book.

Braxton_Toni

When are some of these celebrities going to realize, that some things you experience in life, you take to the grave and not tell the whole world. But I guess these confessions are all apart of remaining relevant in a business wrecked with the worst scandal is what sells.

So Toni Braxton had to reveal that more than 10 years ago, she had an abortion by her then-boyfriend, soon to be husband Keri Lewis, partly because she was on a heavy prescribed acne medication. In her new memoir “Unbreak My Heart” Toni admits she would’ve made the same decision even if she wasn’t on the medication.

Years after the abortion when Toni’s youngest son was diagnosed with Autism she felt God was punishing her for having that abortion. She believes that this was God’s way of reminding her of the fetus she had discarded and killed.

Braxton realizes that this may sound odd but says she “believed that God’s payback was to give my son autism”

Toni also questioned if God was paying her back by giving her lupus and with her parents messy divorce. The singer also reveals that her father married his mistress 30 days after her parents were divorced.

Toni’s book is available in book stores now!
