“Rutgers Student Commits Suicide”

On Thursday, Sept. 23, Tyler Clementi (pictured above), a freshman at Rutgers University, committed suicide by jumping off the George Washington bridge; after his roommate uploaded a sex tape of him making out with another male to the internet.

Fellow freshmen students Dharun Ravi, 18, of Plainsboro and Molly Wei, 18, of Princeton have been charged with invasion of privacy for allegedly placing a camera in 18-year-old Tyler Clementi’s room.

Ravi and Wei were charged with two counts each of invasion of privacy for using a camera to view and transmit a live image of the teen during the sexual encounter on Sept. 19.

Ravi was additionally charged with two more counts of invasion of privacy for trying to use the hidden camera to view the same student during another sexual encounter just three days later on Sept. 21.

Days before the suicide, Ravi tweeted: “Roommate asked for the room till midnight. I went into Molly’s room and turned on my webcam. I saw him making out with a dude.

Ravi was released on $25,000 bail. He has since deleted his Twitter page. If convicted, both students face up to 5 years in prison.

  5. This is really a bad situation for everyone involved. How could you do that to someone? How could you just put someone’s business out there like that? He probably hadn’t even told his parents. This is really sad!

  7. People don’t stop to think sometimes. Especially teenagers. They just think everything is fun and games and up and do stupid shyt. I just said in my earlier post that our brains aren’t thought to be fully developed until the age of 25 and that the reasoning part of the brain is the very LAST to develop. Hence, these dumb asses and their reasoning skills.

    Very sad story.

  8. I feel this is why gay marriage needs to be passed. People should not feel like they can’t express themselves without being ridiculed. Being in the closet is hard enough. The people who video tapped it was probably mad they couldn’t get a piece. Wouldn’t be surprised if they are in the closet themselves.

  13. If they have any type of conscience or a heart I don’t need to pray they get what they deserve, because living with knowing they caused someone that much pain to take their own life is punishment enough.

    Unbelieveable people.

  15. I hate that suicide is becoming more of the norm, especially with young people, as if they dont have so much more life to live! I know yall have heard this a 1000 times but I will say it again. Suicide is a permanant solution to a temporary problem. I wish he would not have taken this road, instead he could have sued the living daylights out of his jerk of a roomate for invasion of privacy…Just sad!

  17. They videotaped this boy during intimate moments between him and his partner, and released it…all w/ out his knowledge. IMO…thats a serious invasion of privacy. I don’t care if it was him and gf, or anything…to just blatantly invade someone privacy like that and expose them like that…is just wrong.

  20. The word “suicide” is not found in the Bible. It comes from the Latin word “sui” meaning “of oneself,” and -cida, meaning “to kill”.

    Suicide = To Kill Oneself.

What does the Bible say about Killing….

” Thou shalt not Kill “

  21. These two need to be expelled from school. Clearly they aren’t mature enough for that environment.

If they can go after them in criminal court, find some statute and twist it so it fits them, I hope they find it! Throw the book at them because this was so unnecessary!

  23. Everything is all fun and games, shyts and giggles until someone gets hurt. If everyone took a moment and pondered over their thoughts, words and actions BEFORE they did it or even contemplated how their actions would ultimately affect someone; maybe just maybe a lot of incidents we see on the television wouldn’t occur.

I was always taught not to do anything that you would be embarrassed about if it came out later. The roommates were dead ass wrong for invading his privacy like that! HOWEVER- if he was gay, he knew the stigmatism and issues he would have to deal with in his lifetime and in my opinion- he took the easy way out.
