“Baby Born With Massive Head Swelling”

Neurosurgeons at a hospital in San Antonio, Texas are fighting to save the life of an 11-month old baby, born with a rare condition that has caused his head to swell more than twice the normal size.

“Baby Klaus,” as his parents and local media are calling him, was born with hydrocephalus, a build-up of excess fluid in the brain that has caused his head to swell to more than 130% larger than a typical newborn’s head.

After several doctors near their home in west Texas refused to operate or told them that their baby would die soon, the stricken baby’s parents, who identified themselves as Klaus Sr. and Beatrice, found a hopeful savior in Dr. David Jimenez, the chairmen of the department of neurosurgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio.

Jimenez and his staff inserted a tube in the baby’s head to drain the fluid and relieve the pressure, and the child’s head is already about a foot smaller than it was when his parents brought him in about two weeks ago, San Antonio’s KENS5-TV reported.

Still, doctors and hydrocephalus experts said Baby Klaus’s had a particular severe case and that progress would be slow.

Known to doctors as “water on the brain,” hydrocephalus occurs in about 1 out of 500 babies born and can cause brain damage, if left untreated, the condition can be fatal.

“Prince William Gave Fiancee Diana’s Ring”

Today, Prince Williams and his fiancée Kate Middleton made their first official appearance together since announcing their engagement.

When he popped the question, Prince William gave Kate the same engagement ring that his father, Prince Charles, gave to his deceased mother, Princess Diana.

Prince Charles paid $65,000 for it when he married Princess Diana in 1981.

“It is very special to me,” William told the press at St. James’ Palace today. “It was my way to make sure my mother did not miss out on today and the excitement that we are going to spend the rest of our lives together.

‘The timing is right now, we are both very, very happy.”

This is not the same storybook romance that occurred between Princess Diana and Prince Charles. William and Kate’s 8-year relationship hasn’t exactly been Camelot. The couple split up at least half a dozen times over the last 8 years.

It seems like a foolish choice to give an unpredictable woman a precious piece of jewelry that holds such historic significance. Especially since it once belonged to his dearly departed mother.

What if Kate decides to break up with him again and refuses to give back the ring? Then what?

“Sharpton Said: Cuomo’s Team Lacks Diversity”

The Rev. Al Sharpton is seriously concerned that the newly elected Governor, Andrew Cuomo lacks diversity in his transition team.

“They should have given a priority to send an early signal that they are going to have a diverse administration,” Sharpton told the Daily News. Emphasizing African-American unease with the Democrat.

Sharpton warned of “governing problems” for Cuomo if the situation is not addressed soon.

The powerful black, Hispanic and Puerto Rican legislative caucus is crucial for Cuomo’s agenda.

A number of caucus members have privately expressed concerns, particularly since Cuomo was put on notice in May about the absence of minorities on the statewide Democratic ticket.

Cuomo’s camp insists his 280-page urban agenda and his trip to Puerto Rico this week to address a conference of Hispanic New York lawmakers highlight his commitment to diversity.

Sharpton went on to say some other shit that made absolutely no sense to me: “I’ve not known [Cuomo] to have a racial component, but the results are what they are,” Sharpton said. “I’m not a psychiatrist, I’m an activist. Why it is, I don’t know. That it is, is what concerns me.”

In the meantime, Cuomo met with outgoing Gov. Paterson for 45 minutes on yesterday to discuss the hand-off of power.

Afterward Paterson praised Cuomo, saying he feels “very assured being replaced by someone who is going to do an excellent job.”

“Dwyane Wade Covers Uptown Magazine”

Uptown magazine caught up with NBA superstar Dwyane Wade for a revealing look into his private life.

The 28-year-old, who once owned a 9,000-square-foot mansion in a tiny Miami suburb, now lives in a lovely yet modest row house (even though he reportedly earned $15 million last year). Wade explained that as he grows older (and settles down) he’s let go of the flashy, material things that he accumulated in his youth.

On His Relationship With Gabrielle Union:

“I found someone I have a great relationship with and that was the most important thing. You have to like the person you’re around before you can say you love them,” Wade says. “That’s the biggest thing right now; we want to make sure that we stay liking each other.”

“It’s Called Divide And Conquer”

President Barack Obama took full responsibility for the sluggish economic recovery and said that “we have not made as much progress as we need to make”.

The President’s comments came less than a day after the Republicans made historic gains in Congress by riding a tidal wave of voter discontent.

Obama said he was doing “a whole lot of reflecting” following heavy losses across the country just two years after he took office, a repudiation by voters of the president’s policies.

Obama called the losses a “shallacking” during his hour-long news conference, adding that he’ll work with Republicans on an array of policy issues and help jumpstart the stagnant economy.

Either way, Barack Obama will be judged as a President on the bottom line results.

The bottom line to the real bottom line is, the Bush-era tax cuts that will expire at the end of the year unless Congress decides otherwise is the next big issue both sides will have to decide on in the coming weeks.

Obama has sought to make all of them permanent — except for families making more than $250,000 a year or individuals making $200,000 a year — while Republicans want to preserve them for every tax bracket.

So the bottom line is the money for republicans and the tea party activist feel as though they now have the upper hand.

So if the tea party are all republican activist, how come the dems don’t have a coffee clutch party? I thought the Rev. Al Sharpton was leading that fight based upon his march against Beck and the tea party’s rally back in August. I thought Al Sharpton was Barack Obama’s ears in the streets? What the hell happened because based on the results, every single candidate (including Nicole Paultre Bell) lost in yesterday’s election.

According to one of many phone calls I received this morning, Al Sharpton has lost his street CRED.

What do you think? Who should be doing more to help President Obama and the democratic party?
