“Prince William Gave Fiancee Diana’s Ring”

Today, Prince Williams and his fiancée Kate Middleton made their first official appearance together since announcing their engagement.

When he popped the question, Prince William gave Kate the same engagement ring that his father, Prince Charles, gave to his deceased mother, Princess Diana.

Prince Charles paid $65,000 for it when he married Princess Diana in 1981.

“It is very special to me,” William told the press at St. James’ Palace today. “It was my way to make sure my mother did not miss out on today and the excitement that we are going to spend the rest of our lives together.

‘The timing is right now, we are both very, very happy.”

This is not the same storybook romance that occurred between Princess Diana and Prince Charles. William and Kate’s 8-year relationship hasn’t exactly been Camelot. The couple split up at least half a dozen times over the last 8 years.

It seems like a foolish choice to give an unpredictable woman a precious piece of jewelry that holds such historic significance. Especially since it once belonged to his dearly departed mother.

What if Kate decides to break up with him again and refuses to give back the ring? Then what?

Because his fiancee is sometimey, and because his mother is dead. Maybe I’m just being sentimental, but no chick can replace my mother. Heirlooms should be passed down to blood relatives. His father gave the ring to his son, not to his mistress Camille.

Camille is an absolute DOG. She musta sucked all the hair off of ol boy’s head through his dick cause her face and body are a tragedy.

      3. Starr: There are two sides to every story. I know Prince William is his Fathers son(or at least that’s what it says on his birth certificate), and he is his mothers child. Why couldn’t it be that she bailed out because she knew he wasn’t ready yet and wanted to take more time. Not every little girl grows up wanting to marry a Prince.

Side note: Tra which fairy tale are you thinking about?? His parents did not have any kind of fairy tale life, his daddy was lustin after his ex and the mom was not happy. I guess giving her the ring would be on par with the mess that is that family.

I can’t say that I care about this subject too much.

I can say that I like Prince Harry better than Prince William though. 🙂

  3. I think that is what they do in the “royal families”. She does not want to be known as the huzzie who would not give the ring back. I can imagine she might be exiled or something. LOL

      1. Yeah @Adriane.,
A family heirloom is not meant to be passed down to every floozy that comes along. Kate can’t even make up her mind if she wants to be with him or not.

      2. Starr,
If Kate is so unstable why would he even propose to her, seeing what his mother and father went through? Obviously he loves her and feels it was right to give it to her.

And no, she will never be Diana. No one will be. Kate never called herself that. It is your media making the comparison, just like after Diana died the Britsh media insinuated that Charles would have hell if he married Camilla.

Guess what? The sun came up the next day and the UK is still intact. In the end, she will be herself.

Who decides someone’s true love for them?? Not every TRUE love is a story book ending…Alot of folks have to grow together, or seperately and THEN learn to appreciate each others differences before it can truly work…

they had to grow up. They have dated for over six yrs and they are still young. Do ppl get married at 19 these days? She would not be stupid and keep the ring if the wedding doesn’t take place, or they divorce, it goes back to the estate.(not necessarily by law, but by morals).

I think so too! But I wonder if it is a requirement to take the ring? I probably would have wanted my own ring that I had designed. No disrespect to the family.

    1. Daisy,
I’ve watched many court shows and an engagement ring is a CONDITIONAL GIFT so if the terms of the CONDITION is not met (meaning them getting married) then she will have to return the gift. It usually depends on where you are because some places have different laws but more than likely she’ll have to retun it.

    2. I loved me some Princess Diana and I was like 8 or 9 when she passed. I am sure his family has some type of contract stating the ring must be returned if the engagement or marriage is broken.

      1. @Brown,
But will she honor the contract and give the ring back? I just hate to see Diana’s ring disrespected.

      2. Yasha, – Y do you think Diana give two peas in a bucket about a ring given to her by the husband she came to despise- Diana is not rolling over in her grave over this trinket!

    3. I think it’s wrong and stupid cuz that ring is marred already by a failed marriage so y not buy a new ring it’s not like you can’t afford it.

    4. The ring has sentimental value. There’s no price tag on that! The man wants the girl to wear his deceased mother’s ring because she is not here physically.

      Like

      1. Flo: And you know y cuz she married his father and it all led up to that faithful night – I wouldn’t put that ring on my finger energy is real and it carried on whether it’s positive or negative imo a ring from a failed marriage is negative energy!

      1. @BBallen..I agree…I dont think you should ever give somebody something with the intent to take it back.. thats childish.. if he gave her the ring and things didnt work out.. its still her ring.. point blank period!

if it means that much to him, then maybe he and his father should take turns shoving it up thier azzes.. I mean what else are you gonna do with it??

      1. Nope @Ebony.
But Kate is the next Queen of England.

The Queen is OLD. Prince Charles is too. If he assumes the throne it won’t be for long.

So….When Prince William marries Kate he is essentially marrying the NEXT Queen of England. In the next 25-30 years.

Congrats to “Waity Katie” as they call her for waiting that man out…

    1. Diana was the “Peoples Princess”. She knew she was only chosen for her youth, looks and innocence.(To give her husband a few heirs. She knew her husband was in love w/Camille. Who would want to stay married? I think that’s why ppl loved and respected her more, she wasn’t afraid of standing up to the Royal Family. Then Fergie came along(Dutchess Of Wales)and thought she could do the same thing. LOL.

    1. Zenna: if I remember correctly from what I’ve researched on the Royal family that girl will have to return the ring but I can understand him giving her his mother’s ring, getting married and not having a parent able to be there is hard, her ring is a symbol of her presence in his life and marriage. I fully get that especially with him being young when she died

  8. Do they have prenups? He should make her sign one so if it doesn’t last he can get the ring back…I don’t see anything wrong with giving her the ring BUT IF SHE DON’T REMAIN FAMILY she should have to give it BACK!

    1. Prince Charles and Princess Diana didn’t have a storybook romance. It was practically an arranged marriage. Prince Charles was in love and involved with his then married current wife Camilla Parker Bowles who was the bain of Diana’s existence the whole time she was married to the prince.

In any event the ring is a family heirloom and a precious one at that. It makes perfect sense for Kate to have it and pass it on to her royal daughter or her son’s wife to be. Who else should have it?
