“Can Mayor Corey Booker Revive Newark?”

Booker has succeeded where every past Newark mayor failed. Booker is one of Newark’s greatest resources with his Oprah connection and after receiving the charitable whims of a 26-year-old billionaire, Booker remains on top.

But can Corey Booker succeed in cleaning up Newark?

Combating crime was his first priority, and the city has made significant progress however the recent layoffs of police officers is unavoidable in order to deal with unanticipated short-term problems.

“Newark is among the nation’s most improved cities crime-wise,” said George Kelling, head of the Greater Newark Safer Cities initiative and co-founder of the Police Institute at Rutgers. “My guess is that the zones of safety have increased enormously.”

If Newark is to thrive economically or otherwise, it must convince investors that the city is not only open for business but it is, indeed safe.

Meanwhile, Newark’s best pitchman (Mayor Booker) spends much of his time on the road, seeking another large-sized donation while tweeting to a million Newarkers and non-Newarkers (such as myself) 🙂 that he is winner who is constantly on the move for the betterment of his city and its residents!!!

“Roger Ebert Crosses The Line W/The ‘N’ Word”

After news broke Tuesday that publisher NewSouth will release a new edition of ‘The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn’ with all 219 N-words excluded, movie critic Roger Ebert reacted with a controversial tweet.

Ebert responded to the ‘Huck Finn’ announcement on Wednesday by tweeting to his followers, “I’d rather be called a Nigger than a Slave.”

The tweet set off a storm of heated feedback toward the influential critic, some saying he was “disrespectful” and “ignorant.”

Others believe Ebert thinks he’s allowed to take such liberties with the “N” word because his wife, is black.

After the fall-out from his comment, Ebert retracted his statement by conceding  “he would never be called either word so he should have just shut the fuck up”.

I wanna hear from y’all, was Roger Ebert out-of-place?

Oh and… thanks to loyal reader “HeavyC” for the story tip…

“Dwyane Wade Covers Uptown Magazine”

Uptown magazine caught up with NBA superstar Dwyane Wade for a revealing look into his private life.

The 28-year-old, who once owned a 9,000-square-foot mansion in a tiny Miami suburb, now lives in a lovely yet modest row house (even though he reportedly earned $15 million last year). Wade explained that as he grows older (and settles down) he’s let go of the flashy, material things that he accumulated in his youth.

On His Relationship With Gabrielle Union:

“I found someone I have a great relationship with and that was the most important thing. You have to like the person you’re around before you can say you love them,” Wade says. “That’s the biggest thing right now; we want to make sure that we stay liking each other.”

“George W…. Can’t Shut Up Now”

After two years of silence, former president, George W. Bush, is revealing his true feelings in a new memoir titled “Decision Points”.

President Obama, Sarah Palin and John McCain are mentioned as Bush’s main targets and conversation piece in this new book.

The 43rd President has told friends that the former Alaska governor (Sarah Palin), isn’t qualified to be President and criticizes Arizona Sen. John McCain for putting Palin on the 2008 GOP ticket and handing her a national platform.

His statement right there is the only reason I chose to write this post in the first place. I agree with him whole heartedly.

Since Palin ran as McCain’s running mate in the 2008 presidential run, the media has given Palin a platform and the spotlight and now you can’t shut the bitch up!!!!

When referring to President Barack Obama, Bush said, “I want my President to succeed because if my President succeeds my country succeeds, and I want my country to succeed”.

And although Bush won’t trash Obama by name, he still thinks Obama has failed as a President – a judgment supported by this week’s robust Republican gains.

Of course, this former President Bush also believes his tax cuts shouldn’t be allowed to expire, including those for the wealthiest of Americans.

In the meantime the “New York Daily News” is running a poll asking their readers “Will you read George W. Bush’s memoir “Decision Points?” 8% said “yes”, 10% said “they might” and 82% said “NO”.
