Being Mary Jane, Episode 3 who saw it?

Being Mary Jane

“Beautifully flawed” Mary Jane (Gabrielle Union) continues to juggle her career and a married man in last night’s episode of BET’s hit scripted TV series Being Mary Jane.

It was a hot and bazaar confession when Gabriel Union’s character (Mary Jane) pulled out one of her lovers saved sperm from the freezer.

And I ask the question: How does a married man give his mistress a ring? With a promise to think about it. She’ll marry him and he’ll do the exact same thing to her (CHEAT) in a years time.

Gabourey Sidibe shuts her haters down!

Gabby

They went “in” on her via twitter. The Oscar-nominated actress also known for work in “Precious” “American Horror Story” and “The Big C” was subjected to a stream of rude comments regarding photos of her on the Golden Globes red carpet. She was really upset about it, too.

The actress tweeted:

“To people making mean comments about my GG pics, I mos def cried about it on that private jet on my way to my dream job last night”

“By all accounts I am not supposed to be an actress,” Sidibe continued. “I am not a size 0. I am not blonde. I don’t have ivory skin. Stepping into this career means making a lot of people wrong and I love that.” BAM!

If they find out he lied… he could be impeached!

Chris Christie

The New Jersey Assemblyman John Wisniewski, who is leading the Chris Christie investigation into the George Washington  bridge payback scandal; told the Daily News that he is convinced that ‘laws were broken,’ and said Christie could possibly be impeached if it turns out he had knowledge of the political payback scheme. Hours earlier, State Assembly Speaker-elect Vincent Prieto announced he planned to subpoena more emails and documents from the Christie administration in the investigation.

“The noose is tightening,” state Sen. Barbara Buono, who lost to Christie in the November governor’s race, told The News on Saturday. “You wonder how people could be so drunk with power, how they could be so brazen in abusing it?” she said.

Buono said she was unmoved by Christie’s cascade of apologies after the emails indicated the lane closings were a petty attack on a local politician.

The traffic jam was reportedly a slap at Fort Lee Mayor Mark Sokolich for his refusal to endorse Christie, whose 2016 presidential hopes may be a “dream never attained” as a hit from this scandal.

In the meantime, David Wildstein, another Christie Port Authority appointee, pled his “fifth amendment” rights at a hearing held by the Assembly Transportation Committee on Jan. 9 in Trenton, N.J. Emails tie Wildstein to the Bridgegate scandal, as well as Bridget Kelly, Christie’s former top aide.

‘Time for some traffic problems in Fort Lee,’ Kelly wrote in a damning email on Aug. 13.

Being Mary Jane…I like the show but it promotes premarital sex!

Being Mary Jane

In case you missed it, BET’s original scripted series, Being Mary Jane starring Gabrielle Union aired last night after much fanfare.

Many are wondering if the show is “life imitating art” as Union’s character is in love with and can’t let go of a married man. The show addresses infidelity, adultery and premarital sex as the norm for a successful black woman. This depiction is both disturbing and somewhat unrealistic.

Union’s character secretly yearns for a man and family of her own but sees this goal as unattainable due to the perplexed marriage to her career.

Last night’s show was the first of eight series, my question is…will you continue to watch?

Excessive sentencing, President Obama, President's Pardon, Stephanie George

She Got Life in Prison all because…

Stephanie-George

Her boyfriend Hid Crack in her Attic.

Pictured above is Stephanie George and she was sentenced by a judge to life in prison all because her boyfriend was a dope dealer and hid his crack in her attic without her knowledge. Even though the judge in Stephanie’s case agreed that she had nothing to do with her boyfriend’s activities, he still took this mother of three away from her kids for the remainder of her natural life.  She was just 27 years old at the time.

“Even though you have been involved in drugs and drug dealing,” Judge Vinson told Ms. George, “your role has basically been as a girlfriend and bag holder and money holder but not actively involved in the drug dealing, so certainly in my judgment it does not warrant a life sentence.” Yet he still imparted such a harsh sentencing.

Now at 42 years old, President Barack Obama pardoned eight people who were serving “unnecessarily lengthy sentences,” and Stephanie George was one of them.

Stephanie George, Clarence Aaron, Ezell Gilbert, and Reynolds Wintersmith were among those pardoned. All eight cases involved crack cocaine sentences, which have been under increasing criticism for being too harsh, including from Obama.

Obama said in a statement that the eight men and women were sentenced in what is now known as an “unfair system,” including the stark disparity between crack and powder cocaine offenses that typically saw black people sentenced to life in prison for crack, while white people got off with light or no sentences for powder at all.

President Obama today gave several Americans who were unnecessarily sentenced to die behind bars the chance to reunite with their families. This is one important step toward undoing the damage that extreme sentencing has done to so many in our criminal justice system. We hope the President will continue to exercise his clemency powers and lend his support to systemic reform that will make our criminal justice system smarter, fairer, and more humane.
