“Mark Madoff Commits Suicide”

Bernie Madoff’s oldest son, Mark, was found hung in his Million dollar condo on Saturday morning. He apparently killed himself with his son in the next room, sources say.

In early morning emails he exchanged with his wife, Madoff wrote that he was ready to end a high-flying life of privilege that hit rock bottom after his father’s Dec. 11, 2008, arrest – exactly two years earlier.

Mark’s wife, Stephanie Morgan – who changed her name from Madoff earlier this year, feared something terrible was imminent. She was vacationing with their 4-year-old daughter in Disney World.

His imprisoned dad, Bernard Madoff, received word of the tragedy inside a federal prison in North Carolina. Although Mark was never charged with any crimes in the Ponzi scheme, there was rampant speculation that he and brother Andrew were aware of the staggering scope of their father’s scam.

The Madoff family have all been estranged since their father’s arrest. It is also reported that Ruth Madoff (Bernie’s Wife) is now living in Florida and has dyed her hair red so not to be recognized in public.

    2. Very sad. He wasn’t facing criminal charges yet because of what his father did his life was one of complete scrutiny and obviously the pressure was too much. Possibly changing his name and moving from the area would’ve helped but he may not have been able to do so until all the civil suits were completed. RIP.

  8. This is sad. I suspect he wanted to avoid his father’s fate. But what about the many ruined lives and the few who’ve died as a consequence of the loss of their life’s savings… and the suicides their (Madoff family) caused? The INTENSIVE INVESTIGATION probably probably started getting to the truth… Bernie Madoff got off easy with his incarceration! It’s HIS fault!

      It’s only too bad that the one to suffer is the grandchild. Come to think of it, I also feel badly for the dog because the police confiscated his leash. Let this be a valuable lesson to all of these greedy investors.

    Some parents don’t understand the toll it takes on some children when they grow up and are no longer ‘kept’ by mom and dad. The DROP in lifestyle can be hard on some of them and this is the example.

      The news was referring to Mark’s father-n-law which is stephanie (mark’s wife’s) father. stephanie was in disney with the daughter

    8. 2 year old was allegedly asleep when he hung himself – father-in-law came to the loft because wife called and told him about the suicide email ‘I love you… have someone come get the baby’. Wife was in Disney World with 4 year old when she got the email . On another note wife filed court papers back in February to change her last name from Madorff… and her kids last name. Mind you no divorce issues or anything just the name change. per MSNBC

  16. This whole situation is fucked up! talkin bout bringing a family down, the greed and theivery brought this family down!!!!

    now the son is dead, cause he killed himself..father in jail, mother in another state, they all ain’t speakin to each other @ the advice of different lawyers. this shit is crazy. but hey only in a white fam. cause you couldn’t pay me to turn my back on my blood behind somebdoy else’s money.

    2. that was a really selfish act on his part! that’s why suicide is a sin! the sins of his father was upon him. I think he just wanted to make his selfish sociopath father feel the pain that he did. in the end it wasn’t worth it now his child is without a father. SMH.

    4. How can she send her father-in-law to check the apartment? She sent her father, his father-in-law. This whole thing just make it seem like something in the milk isn’t clean. First off, how can you do that to your 2 year old? What if he woke up and saw the body or injured himself. Bottom line; very selfish and bad parenting. The welfare of your child comes before anything. I would not be surprised if the whole thing was planned and he decided to take the “easy” way out. I wonder if there is any new evidence coming to light. They may have the life insurance to live on but now they will be raised without a father and carry around the stigma of dad killing himself.

  19. White folks will off themselves because they can’t handle the pressures of being financially ruined. They can’t take being poor after such a good life of money and privilege. He knew exactly what he was doing and he knew exactly what was going on. It all finally caught up to him.

      I agree, mark was paranoid that he’d be arrested next so he killed himself. he was haunted by being next and imo, that was because of what he knew. they all knew, that’s why their lawyers don’t want them talkin to each other.

  21. Mark had 4 kids. Two from a previous marriage 18 & 16, then 4 & 2 from his new wife. He hung himself while the 2 year old was asleep. Before he texted his wife that somebody should check on the 2 year old.
