About Last Night!

Last night (Tuesday November 11, 2025), I had the pleasure of attending Melba Moore’s book event at The Sugar Bar on the upper east side in New York City. The restaurant/bar is owned by the late Nick Ashford and Valerie Simpson. It’s a small quaint spot where the atmosphere feels like home and the food just as delectable.

I was a bit disappointed that it was a book event with no books! Pre-ordering books was the option offered, with Ms. Moore signing a card and accepting a paid receipt as proof of purchase for signing that card. But in all of her glory Ms. Moore graced us with her presence with class and poise, she greeted the crowd with her presence and humble personality. The songstress is extremely down to earth and was acknowledged for her accomplishments by the Harlem Chambers Of Commerce.

When I was there with Ms. Moore in the private room in the back space of the restaurant, I could’ve melted in her presence, not because of who she is but because she has such a quiet, serene, sweet spirit. She’s a real Queen, and I felt the urge to bow in her presence.

Whenever I enter a venue, my first instinct is to always read the room, and right away I heard the voice of Robin Roberts, my favorite anchor of ABCNEWS NY. Robin was minding her business sitting in the corner of the bar laughing and talking with some of her friends. My girlfriend and I took our seats, when I dropped my bag and coat and said to her “Excuse me, I’ll be right back, Robin Roberts is over there and I’m going to talk with her” before my girlfriend could ask any questions I was already over there. LOL!!!! and let me tell you, we had a great conversation. I’ll just say, it was like talking to a friend! The woman is extremely down to earth and relatable.

And NO I didn’t ask her to be a guest on “Conversations Of A Sistah” because I would ask her some hard questions that she would not be able to answer, due to her contractual agreement with ABC.

Therefore, I asked her the hard questions in our conversation. Robin Roberts is a class act and the place was jumping. Comment below with your thoughts. I know you will. 🙂

“They don’t really care about us” is tonight’s Conversation on “Conversations Of A Sistah”

From a government shutdown to a grifting president, from seven(7) million Americans across the country taking their gripe to the streets, the American people understand that “they (the United States government) really don’t care about us. This is the reality many of us face, as federal workers and military personnel is not being paid.

In the meantime, millionaires remain untouched as Trump and the reTHUGlican agenda puts wealthy interest ahead of ordinary citizens. When we hear about a “government shutdown,” it can feel overwhelming or confusing. Many of us expect it to affect our daily lives in some way, but the billionaires that benefit from Trump’s agenda won’t feel the impacts. The shutdown is the government’s choice to put wealthy interests first, with everyday Americans paying the price.

The agenda of the wealthy is what is being put first, while federal workers struggle to meet basic needs, such as, food, mortgage, healthcare and rent payments. This shutdown is about the extension of Obamacare!

Trump forced a shutdown because he refuses to strike a funding deal with Congress. In fact, the President has refused to even meet with Democratic leaders. As a result, the federal government has grinded to a halt.
