As we have all heard when this broke on Friday, Zurana Horton, 34, (pictured left), died of a gunshot wound to the chest and head on Friday as she was waiting for her children just after school let out for the day. A gunman standing on a rooftop across from P.S. 298 in Brooklyn, New York opened fire on a crowd of children and mothers standing outside.
Police said Horton tried to shield the schoolchildren from the gunfire when she was shot and killed herself. Eleven year-old Cheanne McKnight (pictured right), was shot in the face, fortunately she’s survived her injury and was back in school yesterday. Cheanne’s mother plans to transfer her to another school.
Police now have three men in custody for the shooting that killed the 34-year-old Brooklyn mother of twelve and injured 11-year-old Cheanne McKnight .
According to NBCNewYork, police said Andrew Lopez, 18, has been arrested on murder and assault charges and later announced another arrest of the same charges for: Jonathan Carrasquillo, 22, and a 17-year-old suspect also arrested for criminal possession of a weapon; in this case, a baseball bat.

I think the fact that she had 12 kids and she was ONLY 34 is shocking to most. It doesn’t overshadow her sacrifice but it is something to think about.
Most articles list if the person had any children so I don’t think it’s any different from any other.

She erased anything that could be said against her when she saved the lives of her kid and other folks kids too.
It’s shameful the stuff that’s being said about a heroic person who is no longer here to defend herself. I bet the folks who kids she shielded from bullets have nothing bad to say about her.
Her noble sacrifice is all that matters now. How many people judging her choices would have done the same thing?

Were they all living under the same roof or did she farm them out to other members of her family to take care of? With 12 kids didn’t she qualify for welfare so she didn’t have to work? The shooter was shooting at another shooter who was on the ground near the victims. This was all near a school.
Shit. That could be me! I decided to have kids instead of abortions (had those too, no shame here) and now I get the side eyes as well but it is what it is. Im 30 with 5 for statistical purposes.

Wow this woman died saving another child? This women is definitely in heaven right now. We have to pray for her kids. People were complaining on other comment boards saing oooo why does she have 13 kids and she was probably on welfare. She actually had a job you know. It’s a mothers instinct to save a child no matter whose it is.

Who cares how she got those kids and in what order she had them. It’s some mothers with one child that wouldn’t save their OWN child much less someone else’s. Hopefully this will be the last straw for grandma to get her and those babies out that environment. We as a people have to get rid of the stop snitching movement, report anything we see don’t think belongs in our neighborhood, get in the police azz about not policing certain neighborhoods, contact aldermans/city council/who ever that represents your area, the mayor, etc. It starts with us.
