“Well The Devil Finally Killed Her” RIP: Amy Winehouse

Amy Winehouse’s family, said the singer/songwriter’s death was not unexpected. It was “only a matter of time,” her mother, Janis Winehouse, was quoted as saying in the Sunday Mirror.

The singer’s body was found by British police yesterday around 8 p.m. London time after being called by ambulance services. Winehouse battled drug and alcohol addictions following the 2003 debut of her critically acclaimed album, Frank. Her follow-up album, Back To Black, garnered 5 Grammy awards.

Amy’s father Mitch Winehouse, had been vocal in the past about his daughter’s substance abuse, he talked about her possible demise just three years ago. “Doctors have told her if she goes back to smoking drugs, it won’t just ruin her voice, it will kill her,” Amy’s father was quoted as saying in 2008, while issuing an ultimatum to drug dealers to stay away.

Amy Winehouse now joins the list of other famous members of the so-called “27 Club” who all died at the age of 27—including Kurt Cobain, Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, and Janis Joplin. These singers all believed that artistic genius can coexist with or even be aided by addiction.

That is really sad. She was made fun of a lot in the media, but people obviously see now that her drug abuse problem was no laughing matter.

    I pray for her family.

They don’t offer their condolences then say “Not surprising.” If you have ever lived with an addict, or been an addict yourself, you know you just can’t put down the pipe, glass, etc. She was a talented, talented singer who will be deeply missed.

  4. Very sad ending for her. She had so much potential and was worth so much more, a shame she didn’t value her life more.

  5. I am just in shock…I loved Amy and had been praying she would recover. Addictions are a strong hold. Many greats have been lost to drugs and alcohol. Life in itself is difficult adding the demands of fame especially at a young age. Frankie Lymon, Donnie Hatthaway,Marvin Gaye, Michael Jackson etc.etc.etc God given talents gone too soon. We are only here for a season…live each moment with purpose. R.I.P. Amy

  8. It’s too bad Amy didn’t get the help she needed. She poured her heart out in “Love is a Losing Game.” That song was so haunting.

    Very sad.

  9. R.I.P. Amy…such a talented young lady. Maybe this will show some other young people that youth does not equal immortality. Sadly we may see this same story about Lindsay Lohan one day. I really hope not tho.

  10. Let’s keep it real people! This is not shocking at all …she lived with a needle in her arm….. and a crack pipe in her mouth liquor in her hand…. I didnt expect anything less… but its still sad that such a talanted young woman was so troubled and did this to herself… I pray for her parents and family….

  13. So sad to see such a beautiful yet talented young woman pass at such an early age. It’s very unfortunate 4 those of us that appreciated her talents & loved her despite her addictions. Very sad that she didn’t seem 2 have that same hope, belief & LOVE in herself that many of us had in her. May her soul RIP! And to think I was just BLASTING her music yesterday…simply bc I appreciated her music. And now this! RIP young lady, RIP!!!!

A long time ago my sister was telling about Amy Winehouse, and me being the person that I am, I didnt want to hear chit from a white chick, BUT when I went to her house and listened to her album, I was blown away, not only could she ‘sang’, but the chick was soulful wit it too! Nothing I suspected looking just at her! I instantly became a fan despite the negative press she was getting. But this is sad, what a talented girl and only 27, such a short life, RIP to Miss Winehouse.

Okay I was not ridiculing her I was speaking the truth.. I was not suprised because of the life she lived I did not say in anyway she deserved it or anything like that..

I see so many people that dogged this woman out on FB or any other social media site all sentimental now.. go somewhere with all that….cause you dogged her out in life and now think you get a pass for talking nice in death. GTFOH

Truth is this was a woman that had demons to deal with and they got the best of her that is tragic yes but just goes to show you ” live by the gun die by the gun”… I know she didnt kill herself with a gun its just a figure of speech.. I feel horrible for her parents and family they watched and couldnt do antyhing as their beuatiful talented daughter wasted away… yes I can feel bad about her death and still speak the truth it’s called being real…

    1. yeah she made a choice but she still chose DEATH over a blessed life. She made choices that were NOT OF God which means “the devil aided her in killing herself” and YES the devil DID kill her, why because her mind chose to self-destruct!
when you chose a DESTRUCTIVE lifestyle that’s NOT OF GOD but of the devil boo these are the consequences.
