The jury has reached a verdict in the sensational murder trial of Casey Anthony in an Orlando, Florida courtroom today. After listening to testimony from both sides for nearly 6 weeks, they found her not guilty.
Anthony pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder in the death of her daughter, Caylee. She could have faced the death penalty if she had been convicted.
Anthony however, was found guilty of lying to police. She will be out of prison in less than a year.
It’s a possibility Casey’s lost her family due to the embarrassing lies that were made public during the trial but I’m so glad this case is over!

I agree with you SoldierOne……I was however at a minimum looking for a mistrial….a hung jury…something other than NOT GUILTY. And as another poster said…IF SHE WAS BLACK…this would have been a lot different in it’s outcome. I believe the prosecution was a little laxed…because in they’re minds…it was open and shut. I think they messed up by trying to get her for murder 1, should have gone for involuntary manslaughter….But I guess they figured since they had a strong case they would go for it all. Reasonably thinking, and I’m not co-signing because the itch is guilty, there was at least some reasonable doubts. They could not verify the cause of death. The prosecution didn’t have ANY case. NONE. Their “case” was:
1. A child died (we don’t know exactly when or how)
2. SOMEONE looked up cholorform
3. Mom went out a lot
4. Mom didn’t report her “missing.”
Where is the smoking gun? A witness? SOMETHING??? The child’s death is sad but Nancy Grace and the media wanted SOMEONE to pay for it whether it was justified or not.

The media did this little girl a disservice by trying desperately to paint Casey as a murderer instead of looking at the facts of the case. That FORCED the prosecution to go to trial with a bag of chit and tryin to pass it off as chocolate.
If they had waited, I think they would have discovered that G-ma was the real killer. She had the ability, knowledge, oppurtunity and a motive just as likely as Casey’s “I-want-to-be-free” motive.

I work in “Hickville USA” and many of my coworkers who are not black btw felt she was guilty and wanted Casey to be sentenced to death. Casey didn’t report her child being missing for 31 days, nor did her parents. They knew something was wrong and didn’t step in to help. They are all guilty, but i think Casey killed her daughter.

Grand pa almost commited suicide over the babies death. The brother said he went into a depression from not being involved in the babies life. I don’t think Casey wanted the responsibility of being a mother and left this child with the Grandparents. THAT’S why Grandpa was so attached.
