Update: The estranged wife of former Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards died in North Carolina today at 10:15 a.m.
Edwards wrote, “The days of our lives, for all of us, are numbered…the days I do have are made all the more meaningful and precious.”
It was during her husband’s second presidential bid in 2006, that doctors told her the cancer had spread to her bones, and could not be cured.
In 2008, her husband admitted he cheated on her and fathered a child outside of their marriage. “She understands what I understand, which is that I am imperfect,” he said in a statement. “I made a very serious mistake.”

I saw that on GMA. I too am glad they left the jumpoff out. I know that marriage is not easy, but what ever happened to “in sickeness and in health”? I know that he is by her side, but we should not know that he had a mistress and a baby. Papas now and days don’t even know how to be “a rolling stone”. We should never know the name/idenity of any mistress. Let’s go back to the good old days. LOL.

I am a native North Carolinian (and classmate of their deceased son Wade) and despite all the bad Sen. Edwards has done in his marriage, this couple means alot to natives. When they were both practicing attorneys they got ALOT done for this state.
God bless Elizabeth and their family. They have already suffered a great loss, and it is sad to know they are facing it again.

She was just known to the public on a bigger scale than lil ole Raleigh (he was running for the highest office in the land…) and she had that baby…that is why Elizabeth left.
