The government shutdown continues!

GOP Majority Leader Eric Cantor posted the above photo on his Twitter.com account the other day. The photo shows House GOP members sitting across the table from a row of empty seats patiently awaiting Senate members.

“In divided government, the only way forward is to sit down at the table. The House awaits the Senate…” Cantor tweeted. The majority Democratic Senate members refused to show up for a conference to continue talks that could end the government shutdown. And in a failed meeting with President Obama yesterday, a median compromise still could not be reached.

In the meantime, President Obama is standing his ground that “he will not compromise to end the government shutdown” just to appease the republicans.

The Senate Rejects House Amendments to Spending Bill; Gov’t Shut Down at Midnight

The Senate Rejects House Amendments to Spending Bill

The Senate voted today to reject the House GOP’s amendment to defer ObamaCare for one year. The provision was killed by an all-Democratic vote earlier today. The House GOP’s amendments also included a Conscience Clause, or an opt-out for contraceptive coverage.

The ball is back in the House GOP’s court. Unless there is a last minute change of heart by the House GOP leaders, the government will shut down at midnight tonight.

House Speaker John A. Boehner (R-Ohio) stands by his decision not to accept a spending bill that does not include provisions to delay or defund ObamaCare for at least one year.

President Barack Obama said he was not resigned to a shutdown and plans to continue talking to congressional leaders.

From the Washington Post:

The Senate rejected House amendments to a short-term spending bill Monday, killing a provision that would delay President Obama’s health-care law and moving the U.S. government closer to its first shutdown in nearly two decades.

The Senate vote came shortly after Obama said he was not resigned to a shutdown and plans to continue talking to congressional leaders.

The 54 to 46 party-line vote made good on a vow by Senate Majority Leader Harry M. Reid (D-Nev.) to reject a funding bill approved by the House early Sunday because it would delay Obama’s signature 2010 health-care law for one year and repeal a tax on medical devices.

Immediately after the Senate convened Monday afternoon, Reid moved to table the House amendments. That exercise required a simple majority and was accomplished solely with Democratic votes.

“If the government shuts down, blame Boehner and Cruz”

President Barack Obama sent those petty assholes in congress one really simple message from the briefing room on Friday (September 27, 2013) “Do not shut down the government, do not shut down the economy,” Obama said. “Pass a budget on time. Pay our bills on time.”

But Congress of course, is doing the complete opposite by approving a spending bill early this morning that would fund the government through Dec. 15, but tacked on amendments that would delay the federal health care law known as Obamacare for one year and repeal the medical device tax, a move that sets up a showdown and shutdown as of October 1.

The Obamacare delay amendment passed 231-192, and the vote on the medical device tax, which would help cover the costs of Obamacare, was 248-174. The House also unanimously passed a bill to fund the military in the event of a shutdown.

So there you have it folks! Congress is determined to fight and undermine not only the president but the American people despite the fact that, THEY LOST an election that clearly supported the president and  Obamacare.

Congress must agree to a federal spending bill by Tuesday, or the federal government will partially SHUT down, until members can find a compromising solution. Until then, the American people will be held hostage at the hands of congress. While House speaker Boehner and Ted Cruz continue to play this hate and retaliation game toward this African-American president .

Dr. Cornel West Calls Al Sharpton “The Bonafide House Negro Of The Obama Plantation”

cornelal

Dr. Cornell West is apparently pissed off with Al Sharpton’s new position and transformation of image as a Civil Rights Leader.

West likened Al Sharpton to a slave in response to his speech delivery during the 50th Anniversary Ceremony of the historic March on Washington earlier this week.

Public intellectual Cornel West tore into many of this week’s speeches surrounding the 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King, Jr.‘s “I Have a Dream” speech, accusing everyone from President Obama to Rev. Al Sharpton of “sanitizing” Dr. King’s vision.

“Brother Martin himself, I think, would’ve been turning over in his grave,” West said of the event. “[King would have wanted] people to talk about Wall Street criminality, he wants people to talk about war crimes, or drones dropping bombs on innocent people,” he asserted.

“Instead,” he lamented, “we saw the coronation of the bonafide house negro of the Barack Obama plantation, our dear brother Al Sharpton.” West went further declaring that Sharpton’s decline was “supported by [MSNBC analyst] Michael Dyson and others who’ve prostituted themselves in a very ugly and vicious way.”

West and Tavis Smiley both lamented that black leadership has become “so sold-out” so as not to have the courage to be a “bull in the china shop,” break rank, and talk about “racism, poverty, and militarism” at an otherwise “bought-out” event.

It doesn’t get more disrespectful than a black high-profile public figure comparing President Obama’s administration to that of a slave plantation.

Wow!!! I must admit Sharpton being Obama’s bullet proof vest is extremely annoying, always going on the defense for the president against his adversaries. Sharpton has switched positions all in the name of MSNBC and the almighty dollar.

“No Justice ~ No Peace” does Al Sharpton even own it anymore?

White Colorado Senator Says “Blacks Are In Poverty Because They Eat Too Much Fried Chicken”

vicki-marble-fried-chicken

Colorado state Senator Vicki Marble, R-Fort Collins, has the cure for poverty in the Black community: Stop eating all that chicken!

According to the Denver Post, Marble said in her ignorant statement to the post:

“When you look at life expectancy, there are problems in the black race,” – “Sickle-cell anemia is something that comes up. Diabetes is something that’s prevalent in the genetic makeup, and you just can’t help it. Although I’ve got to say, I’ve never had better barbecue and better chicken and ate better in my life than when you go down South and you, I mean, I love it. Everybody loves it.”

Marble is a member of a task force which is what makes her remarks even more disturbing. The comments offended several legislators on the committee, including Rep. Rhonda Fields of Aurora, CO., who is Black.
