Cops in Sean Bell Shooting Forced Out of The NYPD

Three officers involved in the controversial Sean Bell shooting case will be forced out of the NYPD by Monday, including one who will be fired.

An NYPD departmental judge ruled to fire Detective Gescard Isnora (who will not get his pension), Detective Michael Oliver and Detective Marc Cooper. Lt. Gary Napoli has also been forced to leave the NYPD. Napoli was a supervisor on the scene that night but did not fire his weapon.

“It’s a slap on the wrist”, said Bell’s father, William Bell. “They’re going to get another job, their life is going to go on while mine is just stuck.”

Isnora was the detective who fired first, in a hail of 50-shots that killed 23-year-old Sean Bell, who was unarmed in the early morning hours on his wedding day. The November 2006 shooting, which occurred outside of a Queens strip club, also injured were Bell’s friends; Joseph Guzman and Trent Benefield.

      Exactly!!
It took them six years to do this. I can still remember them getting off and not serving any jail time. Even though this is a good thing it still isn’t justice for the family of Mr. Sean Bell. These men do need to be arrested and charged for their crime.

  1. Patience is a virtue. The three cops in Sean Bell’s case will be forced off the job. One of them is fired. It isn’t jail but hey at least they aren’t on the streets as cops anymore.

  2. I am glad that it was done but they all should have gone to jail. They unjustly killed a man and the fact that it took 6 years after the incident to occur to do something says a lot. Smh. I guess I should be happy that something happen to the policemen but I would have felt a lot better if they were spending some quality time in a cell.

  4. seems like NOTHING has changed. black men still being racially profiled and killed for no reason. Good these cops being fired but I agree with Sean Bell’s father, this is a slap on the wrist.
