In this dangerous day and age it seems that cheating has only grown more popular and rampant, despite the advances in AIDS research there is now super-gonorrhea and other STD’s to contend with. Most of those concerns seem to go out the window especially when it comes to love and marriage.
So when is it the perfect time if ever, for the condoms to come off in your relationship??? Is marriage the magical moment to take the condoms off? Especially since when you say “I do” marriage is supposed to equal monogamy and committment.
Sound off Ceo Family, a loyal reader wants your opinion. 🙂 I stressed my opinion privately when the question was submitted to me via email.
Have fun and let’s discuss responsibly.

when you love you trust when you trust the draws come off….with or without the glove.

“When does the condom come off?”
When you are ready to risk an STI/STD or making a human. Simple as that.

You mean to tell me that you’d still be having sex with a person that’s cheating on you? If they’re cheating, DON’T TOUCH THEM! If you suspect cheating, DON’T TOUCH THEM! If you’re in a relationship where cheating is such a high risk…..shame on you. You need to be in a new relationship.

Condoms are good for short term hookups and the prevention of STD’s. Condoms are not good for longterm pervention of pregnancies which is why ALL sexually active women who do not want to get pregnant should also use some type of female contraceptive in additon to condoms. Black women as a group are in the dark ages when it comes to using female contraceptives consistently and properly.

@Lexy, I cosign Adriane,
Your statement is filled with hostility against men as if it is solely their responsibility to avoid cheating and having children etc. When the truth is both people are responsible. Who cares if a chick is on the pill, she took her responsibility men should still take theirs and use a condom. Simple as that. You sound volatile and its simply ignorant to believe this rhetoric.

I agree Lexy,
You should ALWAYS use condoms. At least 50% percent of married men cheat and those are the ones being honest about it, Married men bring AIDS home to their wives too.

Being married or engaged does exempt you from being cheated on. Just because you marry someone doesn’t make them perfect when you say “I DO” nor does it mean they won’t ever mess up. In my opinion you should always use them married or not. Sure it’s all great to get tested together but in between the time you get tested and then next test who’s to say they didn’t contract and give you something. By then it’s too late. Wrap it up people. It’s ain’t that much love in the world.

Both people should want to be tested before they take that risk. There can be life-long (or life-ending) consequences for short term risky behavior. It’s not worth it. Get tested and always be honest with sexual partners if you feel you cannot be faithful. Give the other person the choice of whether or not they want to be in a sexual relationship with someone who is not fully committed.

Even if you get married there is still a chance you could contract AIDS or some other STD. this is a decision strictly between the two individuals. trust, ethics and morals are things you should find before sex anyway…just saying…

(a) the couple are ready to commit to each other and
(b) they both go and get tested all the way.

OOk let’s be honest being married doesn’t guarantee that your partner will stay faithful and you still won’t get an std and or hiv I know instances where it had happend. I need clean medical checks. And I’m married and still continue to be tested yearly for everything including hiv. Soooo I love him but I value my health and well being too.

Depends.The condom can come off:
1) After I’ve made it CLEAR that I view sex as RECREATION FIRST…and she agrees that such is the case.
2) After she makes it CLEAR to me that she DOES NOT want children at this point…and I can see by her career/life circumstances that this is true.
(this is why married women & white or asian girls in grad school make excellent booty calls)

Even after marriage, without Birth Control, like the pill, not using condoms is a bad idea. Having children is not a game of russian roulette as a result of two ignorant people deciding they are at a point where NOT USING protection will bring them a step closer in their relationship. Ms. Bell whatever your answer was to this reader I sincerely hope you educated her regarding the consequences.

I don’t think there is a time limit, it depends on the people and the situation. If two people have been tested and have agreed to have a monogamous relationship then it is fine. The woman should also be responsible enough to properly use birth control. Both people have to understand that even when used correctly birth control isn’t 100 percent so there is always that very small chance that it can happen and be prepared for any adverse events. Plus marriage isn’t fool proof, some public health professionals are now encouraging married couples to use condoms because of an increase in STIs in married couples.

I understand marriage isn’t for everyone, so when both parties are solely comitted to one another and she is going to take some form of birth control, get her tubes tied, or he get’s a vesectomy.
For the gays….Eh… probably never…

I would think that getting married would change the dynamics of a relationship, but…*shrug* I don’t know.
I just think that until you are ready to risk what may happen as a result of no birth control, then you can get rid of the condom. I honestly think both parties need to be on birth control. Not condom OR pills. It needs to be condom AND birth control because too many people are victims of “accidents”… Better safe than sorry, I always say.
