Condoms are good for short term hookups and the prevention of STD’s. Condoms are not good for longterm pervention of pregnancies which is why ALL sexually active women who do not want to get pregnant should also use some type of female contraceptive in additon to condoms. Black women as a group are in the dark ages when it comes to using female contraceptives consistently and properly.

Being married or engaged does exempt you from being cheated on. Just because you marry someone doesn’t make them perfect when you say “I DO” nor does it mean they won’t ever mess up. In my opinion you should always use them married or not. Sure it’s all great to get tested together but in between the time you get tested and then next test who’s to say they didn’t contract and give you something. By then it’s too late. Both people should want to be tested before they take that risk. There can be life-long (or life-ending) consequences for short term risky behavior. It’s not worth it. Get tested and always be honest with sexual partners if you feel you cannot be faithful. Give the other person the choice of whether or not they want to be in a sexual relationship with someone who is not fully committed.

I don’t think there is a time limit, it depends on the people and the situation. If two people have been tested and have agreed to have a monogamous relationship then it is fine. The woman should also be responsible enough to properly use birth control. Both people have to understand that even when used correctly birth control isn’t 100 percent so there is always that very small chance that it can happen and be prepared for any adverse events. Plus marriage isn’t fool proof, some public health professionals are now encouraging married couples to use condoms because of an increase in STIs in married couples.

I would think that getting married would change the dynamics of a relationship, but…*shrug* I don’t know.
I just think that until you are ready to risk what may happen as a result of no birth control, then you can get rid of the condom. I honestly think both parties need to be on birth control.
