“Giant Tsunami Hits Japan And Sweeps Houses And Cars”

More than 160 people are feared dead after a giant tsunami wave rolled across Japan sweeping homes, cars and debris with it early this morning.

The victims thus far, include 100 passengers on a cruise ship that was swept away by the tsunami. Shocking images of the carnage dominated national and international headlines this morning.

In the photo above, a small pleasure boat became trapped in the center of a gigantic vortex created by the tsunami. The boat went under water taking an unknown number of souls with it.

According to The Daily Mail, the Japanese declared a state of emergency at a nuclear power plant in Fukushima after the 8.9 quake caused the cooling system to fail. Massive fireballs caused by explosions at an oil refinery scorched the sky.

A tsunami is formed when an earthquake shifts the ocean floor hundreds of miles out in the ocean. The pressure from the shifting plates creates a ripple effect in the water that gathers strength as the giant waves roll out from the epicenter toward land.

A receding tide is usually the first sign of an approaching tsunami.

  3. Japan is in my prayers. So is Hawaii and other areas included in the tsunami watch.

    I have a close friend who was supposed to be in Tokyo on business. Thank God some things fell through last minute and he’s home.

  4. I just read that all US troops station in Japan are acounted for. Praying for those effected by the tsunami.

  11. Very Sad 😦 We take United States for granted sometimes. 2012 lets hope 2013 comes. RIP 2 all the victims and get well soon to the injured over there.

        This ain’t just “another earthquake” so please don’t just dismiss it as another day in Japan. This is the 7th most powerful quake recorded in history and the largest to hit Japan in over 100 years. People take notice, Earth is changing!!

Japan has it’s worst quake in years, and people say “oh well it happens.” Tsunami’s are about to hit Hawaii and the West coast of the USA, this winter was the worst in years.   26. I’m watching a video as we speak of a lady warning and telling everyone this quake is coming 3-11-11. The video was made two days ago. It was even posted on wiki ! Weird. She is begging people to take cover & be prepared!

  29. I just wish for those people that survived blessings. I hope they are able to recover from all this. I can imagine how I would feel if all my stuff gone and I have to start over. But they survived though. I guess you can get another house and clothes.

  36. Hey erbody, I heard on the news that the price of a barrel of oil should decrease because Japan is the world’s third largest economy and will be using less of it while their country regroups, but don’t count on seeing a drop in gas prices.

  38. One thing I keep hearing this morning is how calm the Japanese have been through all of this. I just hope that if things ever hit here we are able to handle such devastation with that type of dignity.
