“ReCap: The Game’s Season Premier”

The much-hyped and anticipated Season 4 premiere, of ‘The Game’ aired on BET last night (the prior seasons were on CW11).

But everyone’s talking about the steamy scene between resident Cougar, Tasha Mack (Wendy Raquel Robinson), and Donte (BET’s 106 & Park host, Terrence J). I had no idea who this Terrance J was, until I saw some of your comments.

There was so much going on in last night’s premier:  Melanie and Mack don’t believe DJ is really Malik’s son. So Melanie swabs the cute tyke’s mouth for a DNA test, which turns out to be negative.

Later on in the show we find out the DNA test result was a mixup, and that DJ is in fact Derwin’s son. The DNA mixup plot was ridiculous and unlikely. But then again, this is TV, and we can pretty much expect anything.

The two battling divorcee’s, Jason and Kelly (Brittany Daniel and Coby Bell), provided comedy as they mocked Shaunie O’Neal’s reality TV show “Basketball wives” while their daughter Brittany aka “Brit-Brat” was like 9 in the last episodes but looked 16-18 years old in last night’s premier.

The only character that I truly despised was the womanizing Malik (Chanchez). BET managed to fit every black male baller stereotype into Malik’s character. In the opening scenes of the show, Malik is seen banging his team owner’s wife (Meagan Good), whom he later dates openly with no shame because the rules don’t apply to him.

So CEO family, what are your thoughts on last night’s premier?

  5. I loved the show too! I didn’t care for Malik’s character this time around and Melanie was wrong as hell. I cried when Derwin cried because I can’t imagine how I would of felt… I hope BET keeps up the good episodes.

  8. It’s not even 10 O’clock yet. LOL.
    The show had to catch us up two yrs. It would not have taken Med School two yrs to do a DNA on DJ. For her to go from Med School to Housewife is ridiculous. I wanted Jason and Kelly back together. It wasn’t a bad first episode, I’m use to the underacting.

    As far as the DNA going wrong, this is our black Soap Opera, we see it all the time on Daytime Soaps. I so wanted them to go back to where it ended so Tasha could have really explained Kelly knocking her out, why are they making Tasha afraid of Kelly and she is smoking Blacks because???

      And the whole Meagen Goode plot is confusing to me. They are risking their lives having sex in public restrooms, having threesomes with random chicks… I wish they would’ve gave more back ground into how that even came to be.

      Uhm what was up with Britney turning into a video skank. She looked like a bad girls club reject.

      2. @IONNA: I still have not figured out what happened with Derwin’s face when he came back to Melanie. Did him and Janae get into a fight? Maybe that’s the next episode??

        I don’t remember Janae telling him that wasn’t his baby but I knew from last season that this topic would come up again.

      But girl!!! Wasn’t Terence J the bomb?!?! I said, damn, I ain’t never seen him act like a grown man. He was downright sexy last night. Mel has gotten right back to being a pain in the got damn azz. Come on Mara. Can’t you let the character grow a little bit?

      And yes I’ll admit all the fella were a bit rusty last night, but they’ll got into it as the season moves forward. Big ups to Coby Bell the consumatte professional who picked up right where he left off without missing a beat.

      I’m so glad my show is back!!!!

  10. Mel needs her azz kicked for swabbing that babies mouth. She knew when she said I do that DJ existed. Don’t be mad now because Janae has what you want. Having the nerve to say Janae wants what they have. Janae looked pretty happy when she dropped that baby off with his dad.

    Get ya ovulation game up and stop taking your bitterness out on innocent kids. That baby will always be his family no matter what she better hope he doesn’t divorce her bitter ass.

    They must’ve consulted with Kim Porter on how to be a bitter bitch towards your man’s child.

  12. Ohhhkay, so I’ve been watching this show since episode numero uno. And I’ve been waiting FOREVER for this premiere like plenty of other folks, but I must say I was somewhat disappointed with the storyline last night.

    Malik’s character was disgusting and they made a usually funnaaay-as-all-hell and speak-his-mind Tee Tee into a soft and weak punk. Hated that! Plus, that paternity test mixup was a mess.

    All that said, I’m gonna keep watching. 🙂 Gotta support my folks. And big ups to Terrence J…he did his thang last night.

    Too much to soon too fast hated it!!

    The comedic aspect was off and cheesy

    Acting was over the top

    I predicted that the lab mixed up the DNA results 😦

    Didn’t like how fast and much Britt Bratt has grown

    Tasha being scared of Kelly REALLY??!!

    Tasha n Terrance (whom I like) have 0 chemistry

    I kept my fingers n toes crossed hoping BET wldnt mess up my show but they ruined it thus far 😦

    Now Mel is going to annoy me not tellin Derwin the truth

    Hated the new TT

    4. It seemed like everyone was overactin their parts, except for Pooch Hall aka Derwin.

      I never liked Melanie’s character and still don’t.

      (I don’t know why Terrance J was even added to the mix. No chemistry between him and Tasha Mack.

      I wanted to punch Kelly in her face. Clearly, she is the white Shaunie O’Neal this season.

      Malik is an asshole as usual. His role is probably art imitating life. That is, Hosea Chanchez is probably just playing himself.

      I like Jason and Tee Tee.

      Where are Irv and Rick Fox?

      All in all, I will continue to watch

  15. i loved it. meaghan good is a waste in this show. I love Jason, he’s the funniest. Him and Kelly will be the highlight this season. Wonder how long Melanie is gonna wait to tell her husband she screwed up.

      Melanie didn’t drop out. She graduated. She just needs to do her residency. She stated that when she was about to give the baby a bath that she was Dr. Davis. And when she ran into Kelly at the hospital she was getting her application for her residency. Once someone has graduated from med school they are considered doctors but must do a residency or a fellowship under an attending doctor. Like on the TV show Scrubs.

    6. Overall, the show was pretty good. Did not like Kelly’s part at all and hated the new brit brat. After all the drama with Melanie and Derwin, you would think that Melkanie would have done her residency even if she decided to be a house wife. Needless to say, I will still watch faithfully.

  17. I thought the show could have been better but I liked it overall. Although the acting was quite horrible last night.

    I also think they went too far having Tasha smoke a black n mild!

    I don’t like Janae at all! She does want what they have. Why would she be so pressed to run and get the same purse you saw your childs step mother with? She was a little extra with that baby too like she was trying to rub it in her face. I just don’t like her!

  18. They shouldn’t have let 2 years past by. They should have picked up were they stopped. How did Melanie react to baby DJ? How did Jenay and Derwin determine custody of DJ? How much child support is Derwin paying? how did Derwin become a star? When did Kelly become a bitch? Where was Rick Fox? So many questions

    I knew Terrance J was going to be on the show, but didn’t know he was Tasha’s boy toy.

    Kelly going to be broke if she continue to spend spend spend. I know it must be nice to since Jason is so cheap, but she going to be broke like Nicole Murphy allegedly is.

    Malik was definitely showing his tail last night.

    All in all, I am glued to the show b/c I want to find out how everything is going to go.

  25. I know TT gone snitch on Malik, but TT’s girl is a hoe anyways. Can’t be mad solely at Malik. It went too fast trying to play catch up.

    Favorite line: “I’m handing out ass whippings and lollipops:> #flatline Janae was creepy with the whole purse/look better on me bit. I would never go out and buy anything that my husband’s ex was wearing. Janae owned her own business, but I wonder who’s paying for the nanny and all them shopping sprees and flights she going on. Now that he a million dollar man, he got to be paying out the butt.

    Men are stupid, always get a paternity test, ALWAYS. Costs less than 1k, why find out years later and be crushed?

    I liked the show, I didn’t like how “grown” Kelly and Jason’s daughter was (why must all black girls on TV be portrayed as disrespectful and angry? It used to be black women, now it’s black girls)

    Where the hell is MALIK headed? I can see the writing on the wall with this one. No job… and drugs. And how you do your boy Tee Tee like that? You stank.

    Mel & Derwin – I was hype as hell that that wasn’t his kid and assumed the people at BET must have gotten my strongly worded email. (LMAO) But then they let me down AGAIN when it turns out to be his. I hate them!

    Tasha Mack – forreal, a tyke? Really?

    I don’t like the “new” Kelly… she’s arrogant and wears too much Maybelline. Bring the old Kelly back (although I can see her and Jason getting back together easily)

    Overall, I love the fact that “The Game” is a story that I can actually follow each week and get involved in the storyline instead of something different going on every week. Although it wasn’t HUGE on laughs, it was enough to keep me coming back to (dare I say it?) BET at LEAST once a week. OK, DVR, but still.

  31. I liked the premiere and the plot twists. I was glad to see my girl Megan Goode getting a role on the show but just wish I was her getting to slobber all over Hosea (he doesn’t seem gay to me why do people think so?). Kelly getting a reality show was funny because they are making fun of “Basketball/Football Wives”. Terrence was looking pretty hot despite him being so thin. It’s going to make me see him in a new light. The only thing that was bad was daughter growing up so fast, she seemed like she was 10 before and now she looked 20. Just because that girl was short doesn’t mean we can’t tell she is an adult. Don’t tell me they are doing some soap opera aging growing stuff.

  32. I liked it more than I hared it. The only part I hated was the sports show bits. Who designed the graphic? So cheesy. The dialog was awkward and clearly unrehearsed. I guess the Jason Pitts character refused to come to Atlanta for shooting, so this was their back-up plan. Tasha Mack was a little to raunchy for me this episode. I know it’s BET but damn.

  35. I cant believe folks complaining about this episode when y’all know season 3 was trash, this 1st episode is better than its last season.

    Why are folks complaining about TT, this is 2 years later y’all expecting a grown azz man to never evolve. His character is gonna have a big role this season.

    The new Britnnay looks older than her mother, she needs to be re-cast ASAP.

    Why does Melanie run back to her career everytime she has relationship problems. Stick with it or just quit already

      I just want them to bring back the old Brit. I’m SO glad Tee Tee is back, but I miss him as Malik’s assistant. I miss the one-liners – he was hilarious, Malik is such an ASS and was foul for what he did to Tee Tee. Meagan Good – I have to give her some time to set in. I don’t like the new Kelly at all. I LOVE my girl, Tasha Mack (my favorite character beside Derwin and Med School), but seeing her running scared from Kelly wasn’t her. I like Tasha just the way she was. I HATED seeing her with Terrence J. He just didn’t seem the right fit for her at all.

      Derwin and Mel – a mess as usual, but I love them!

      Other than that, I LOVE this show too death and will continue to watch it for as long as they’ll show it. I think Season 4 might be the best.

I am very happy the show is back on, I have been a fan since day 1, even though I hate football, I love the characters, I wasn’t feeling these people terrance j he is just to young skinny for tasha besides they have no chemistry, I want the old brittney back, I don’t like that grown midget who was playing her, I wish that mel would grow up and stop being so insecure, Why did they turn tasha into a scary punk of kelly? please, and then they also turned tee-tee, malik’s side kick or assistant into a punk with a chicken truck and gave him a hoe for a girlfriend. Jason was on point, Malik lost his mind, Derwin was the same, I kind of wished that Janae wasn’t in the picture, and why would she need to get the same purse as melanie, didn’t she have a store selling clothes, and purses. I hope that the story line gets better,

    What happened to Rick and Tasha. WHY TERRENCE????? That’s Terrible. They don’t even look right together it looks weird.
    Kelly i don’t like her attitude nor her new look, she looks trashy.
    And even there daughter “Brittney” she look like a damn 17 year old. They should have chosen a younger looking girl.
    Melanie and Derwin…idk…there ok i guesss. I kinda don’t like Melanie’s character.
    And Omg. Malik. DO NOT like him this season. I also don’t like Megan Goods character either shes supper trashy.
    Long story short I didn’t like the first episode of the new season. I really hope it gets better..REALLY.

    You know what would be decent? BET should pretend this episode was a bad dream…The entire cast should just wake up from this new storyline, and return to just a lil bit of what we loved about the original show.

    Malik should return to his arrogant, obnoxious, yet loveable self, with TT still on deck. I think it’s wonderful for TT to begin making moves on his own, but who wants to see him so serious and so angry, and with MALIK as the main source of his frustration? There should be an amicable medium for these two that allows Malik and TT personal growth without sabotaging their relationship.

    As for Kelly, PLEASE NIX the reality show concept! What sort of reality show wouldn’t feature her “real friends”, Tasha and Med School, anyways? Secondly, wasn’t she on the verge of making amends with Jason last season, but got played when Stacy showed up in the court room?? Kelly could call up Jason and try to work it out, with Stacy Dash STILL included in their plot line, soommeewhere!!That’s where things should have started off!

    Sidenote: And Tasha, afraid of Kelly??? Puh-LEEEZZZ!! Can we get Pretty Ricky Fox back in the mix??…Even if it means flyying him out to Atlanta twice a week to film on the weekends, let’s GoOo!!

    Finally, Melanie. Can we please give her some shine this season? She’s put up with so much drama last season, can we give the girl some peace of mind? If it were up to me, she would wake up next episode like, “OMG, the first paternity test WAS correct and the Kid isn’t his”….

    …I’m already over the overracting. I’ll tune in still because I have FAITH BET and THE GAME will do the right thing and start making the necessary adjustments!!
