This is Phylicia Barnes, a 16-year-old North Carolina girl who disappeared while visiting her 27-year old step-sister in Baltimore, MD. According to Phylicia’s half-sister Deena Barnes, Phylicia was last seen on December 28 at 2:30 pm when she told her sister she was going shopping.
Anyone who had contact with Phylicia in the hours leading up to her disappearance is considered a person of interest, police said. Phylicia’s sister is of college-age and “she had a lot of friends coming in and out,” police say; which makes the potential suspect pool large and difficult to narrow down.
In the past week, authorities have conducted multiple searches for Phylicia in and around the area of the apartment complex where she was last seen, but so far nothing of interest has been found.
Authorities are now hoping that billboards donated by Clear Channel Communications might help bring some new leads in the case. Billboards, which display Phylicia’s photo and vital information, were put up along Interstate 95 from Baltimore to New York City, police said.
Phylicia is a straight “A” student and is due to graduate early from Union Academy in Monroe, North Carolina.

This was on the news Saturday morning. They interviewed the girl’s mother. who allowed her daughter to visit her wild azz step sister who’s she’s only known for about 2yrs. The step sister is a college student in her 20’s who had wild parties and boys in and out. ain’t no telling what happened to this young girl. smh.

Trace,
A black girl went missing in England the same time a white woman did this christmas. The white woman was all over the news and no mentioning was ever made of the black girl. Which one turned up dead? The white woman. The media feels like it’ll get more ratings if its one their own. Maybe Oprah’s channel can broadcast her profile.
But ‘thank you’ ms. bell for staying on point.

@Daisy, I was also wondering why she let her go shopping in an unfamiliar area..I find that odd.
She’s from NC, Baltimore was prolly cold and snowy then, why would she want to go out shopping by herself in the cold? If you are visiting family you tend to wait to do things together as a group instead of solo. This is fishy and the sister does sound shady in all this.

yea its sad but its true. i remember when that white girl lacey peterson went missing years ago and she was pregnant, but at the same time, there was a black girl ALSO PREGNANT missing, and no one even heard of it. she got NO MEDIA COVERAGE WHATSO EVER. this is proof that yes racism still exist.

Terrible. I hate it when anyone goes missing, but it’s true that when little white kids go missing, it’s some huge inflated national media coverage, included with a huge search hunt, whereas if missing hispanic and black kids even get reported on the news, it’s probably going to be some 10 second missing child announcement and that’s it. FACT.

Most blacks dont care about themselves, so what makes you think that whites would care about blacks. The honest truth hurts Negros, Black women are the least valued females in America along with black men being the least valued men. Integration is what killed the black community because now many of you are exclusively dependent on the white social structure. Here is an idea, how about the black community begin a community outreach program that targets missing minority children, police the communities because outside of that you are not going to see any rapid justice.
LikeLike
*inhale, exhale* @Random, you’re sadly right. I do notice that blacks sit and complain about the problems going on within a community, county, state, nation. the government, everything. But not one is willing to work up the energy to make things happen. They think that “Oh I’m just one person, I won’t make a difference” so they sit on their azzes and complain in hopes of something magically changing. Whites won’t change unless you try to make them change. Even if that doesn’t work, keep trying anyway or set up something on your own. Heck, take it as far as creating an all black news station if that’s what it takes. Doesn’t sound too realistic, but I bet it would happen if it needed to. I watch the news everyday and they will talk about the same kidnapping stories (white girls of course) nonstop, but I’ll never hear about blacks – unless it’s another damn HOOD shooting somewhere.
Things were so much different during the Civil Rights movement. Blacks…heck even other races fought with every ounce of energy to make things change. Wanted justice. Once they got it…that was it. Yes, there are endless unfair situations that go on today, but don’t open your mouth and start whining and bitching about it unless you’re willing to make things change. Until then, STFU and suck it up.

I don’t get it @ACE,
How does the civil rights movement of the 1960s relate to addressing this topic of BLACKS being ignored by mainstream news in America today? …no, you’re right. The civil rights movement happened for a few days in Birmingham in the 60s, then everything stopped after that.
