“Wesley Snipes Will Surrender To Authorities”

But before he does, he will appear on CNN’s “Larry King Live” tonight.

Snipes was convicted of three misdemeanor counts of failure to file tax returns and was sentenced to 3 years in prison.

Earlier in the week, Wesley requested a delay to start his prison sentence until after the holidays but a judge denied his request; as he has also lost a series of appeals and requests for new trials.

Prior to his conviction, Snipes had been a member of an obscure cult whose leader didn’t believe in paying taxes.

Snipes also claimed that as a “fiduciary of God, who is a ‘nontaxpayer,’” he was a “‘foreign diplomat’” who was not obliged to pay taxes.

Snipes failed to file tax returns for the years 1999 to 2004 on earnings of $37 million.

According to CNN’s Marquee blog, the actor will sit down for his only interview (tonight) on CNN’s “Larry King Live.”

Snipes is scheduled to report to the Federal Correctional Institution McKean at Lewis Run, in Pennsylvania on Thursday, December 9.

  4. Yt people do it all the time. Warren Buffet (the second richest man in the world) is on record for saying that he pays less in taxes than his secretaries.

    If this was George Clooney or Brad Pitt he would have received a small fine and no jail time. Wouldn’t even have to pay all of it back.

  7. He wanted to push the date back so he could spend the Holidays w/his family. Dude please, you had 3 yrs to spend time w/your family while out on “appeal”. He could have been out of jail if he would have went after sentenencing.

  9. I cheat on my taxes every year(I buy dependents)…so this hits close to home..i may reconsider…this year…or atleast until i realize govt is screwing me anyway why not screw them back…

    3. @Ace, u dont want to claim a dependant thats not yours this year u will get a letter fast. especially if its a kid that gets shuffeled around for that purpose. if its the same kid you been claiming for years you can get away with it.

  11. Oh yeah… NOTE: Wesley was arrested for “failure to file” taxes, not “failure to pay” … which is much harder to prove.

    He would have been better off just filing a return claiming to have not made any money… like everyone else.

  12. Don’t feel sorry for Snipes yall. Lesson learned here – DONT FUUUCKING PROCRASTINATE!! The judge also added “..if Snipes started the sentence when he was supposed to he be near finished.” Nuff said!

    Judge deserves a large bonus for xmas.

      Me too…I owe as well so I’ll remain silent on this one. Waiting for my 2010 return to get snatched and hopefully make a dent in what I owed for 08 & 09 and I JUST finished paying off 07.

      By the way- you only in trouble if you file NOTHING at all. I didn’t file 2007 until 2009 but I filled out a “tax-extension” form before 4/15/08. So you can prove “intent” to file and it buys you a lot of time. Maybe by 2012, I’ll be caught up though….

    2. And another thing…..how do folks get their checks and such “garnished” by IRS? IRS sends you 2-3 notices asking you to file and work out a payment plan before they take anything? (They had sent me 2 for TY 2007 before I filed inside of “tax amnesty” for that year.)

      If you just ignore the letters and try to roll on like everything is fine- you deserve to get snatched up. They’ll work with you (and reduce what you owe in many cases) if you agree to a payment plan.

      And 12k, Daisy? How many years did you not file for?
