“Brawlers Beat Her Young Son To Death”

It began with a brawl outside of a house party. A woman hit a man, and the man refused to strike back, saying he wouldn’t hit a girl. Instead, he vowed to attack the next male who walked by, even if that person was a random stranger.

That person was 18-year-old, Bobby Tillman (In the framed photo above) and now his mother, (Monique Rivarde) wants justice for the murder of her son.

A group of four party goers decided Tillman was the one, so they swiftly stomped, kicked and punched him to death while dozens of bystanders watched.

“He had nothing to do with anything,” said Maj. Tommy Wheeler of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. “They just decided he’s the one. And they killed him.”

The party Saturday night was supposed to be a small gathering of about 10 friends of a high school girl who lived in this middle-class suburb west of Atlanta. It soon grew to an unruly crowd of about 80 people after word spread by e-mail and text message.

As the crowd grew, the girl’s parents asked the partygoers to leave. But the party just spilled into the street, and neighbors became frustrated by the number of parked cars.

That’s when a fight broke out between two females and two males, and one of the females hit a male, Wheeler said.

Then, in a case of twisted chivalry, the man decided he would not retaliate — but vowed to beat up the next man who passed by, investigators said.

Tillman, who had apparently come for the party but attended a different high school than most of the other young people, unwittingly became the target.

Dozens of witnesses were taken to the sheriff’s office for questioning, and four people were arrested.

Tillman’s mother, Monique Rivarde, couldn’t contain herself Monday during an initial hearing for the suspects, bursting into tears as soon as she set foot in the courtroom and wailing as prosecutors charged each man with fatally beating her son.

The four suspects were identified as Quantez Devonta Mallory, 18; Horace Damon Coleman, 19; Emanuel Benjamin Boykins, 18; and Tracen Lamar Franklin, 19. All were charged with murder Monday.

Isn’t this story sad and tragic?

Where is this rage and hate coming from that these teenagers display today? Parents what is going on in your homes?

  1. Good for them for catching those thugs. A young man was murdered so what if you sat on a bus and was questioned by police?. You got to go home. so. Stfu.

This poor mother, my heart is breaking for her. Who ever said “he looks like he was going to be something”. I total agree, too bad his life had to get cut short. RIP.

If they cared so much for their children why in the hell weren’t they at home..I feel that parents whose children commit crimes should be held responsible too..then maybe we can keep theses test tube babies off the streets. My heart goes out to this young man’s family, such a shame smmfh!

Goes to show that as parents, we never cease having to worry about where our children are…even after they become ‘adults’. My 19 year-old is off at college and never likes to answer his cell phone, thinking I’m trying to keep tabs on him. Hell yes…I am! As a mother, that’s my job. And I ain’t quitting any time soon!

This same thing actually happend to my nephew a while ago.. he was walking by.. something about a house party and was jumped.. thank GOD he didnt die.. the ironic part about it was, some adult (i was told) tried to break it up, one of the boys that was jumping my nephew, shot a gun in the air.. i was so happy that he didnt decide to shoot my nephew.

I hope they have the right people in custody and justice is served.

I wonder if the victims mother knew her son was out at a party. Teens party or want to party and hang out with friends. Some sneak out/some break curfew that doesnt mean the parents didnt care.

I don’t know where the disconnect occurred with my generation having no respect for anything, but I just hope and pray things get better.

    1. A family has to grieve for their loved one because no one decided to step in, or call 911. This truly is a tragedy. A parent should not have to bury their child, especially over such foolishness. There are 5 mothers whose lives will never be the same, only thing is 4 mothers can still see/talk to their child.

You Mothers, when your child is doing wrong, and witnesses say your child is doing wrong, step-up and CORRECT YOUR CHILD.

  30. This is why I pray to God all day everyday for wisdom and guidance. I also pray for Him to protect and watch over my children. As a parent, you’re always second guessing if what you’re doing is right. Are you raising your children to know the difference between right and wrong? Are you raising your children how to operate in integrity, treat everyone how they want to be treated? Are you giving your children the tools necessary to recognize people of positive character? The right people to hang around? Are your raising your children to be cognizant of everything they do and for every action, there is a consequence to it? Those are just some of the things I think about as a parent……..

My heart breaks for his mother because although you may do all you can as a parent, giving them the tools needed to survive in this world, there wasn’t anything Bobby Maurice Tillman could do to avoid this situation. This young man was minding his own business and got jumped on. All of the passerbys and spectators standing idlely by watching and no one thought to intervene. How cruel and heartless can someone be? Regarding the thugs that killed this man, I can’t help but wonder what’s the root cause of their hatred. Did these young men get enough love and affection from their mothers? Attention, correction, direction and quality time from their fathers? This is all just senseless!!I am praying for victim’s family as well as the families of young men. This is an ordeal I pray I never have to experience.

I know the boy who started this appetite is completely gone. That girl that hit him. Got this boy in a lot of trouble. Even it was selfish decision to do that. This is almost eerily similar to the killing of the young black chicago boy a a year ago. Sad. Very Sad. RiParadise young man. 😦

  32. I am so frustrated by this incident. As an educator, I teach students daily that are being raised without ethics and morals. Why would you stomp a random person to death? Other young adults just stood by and watched this happen. No one tried to help. I also blame the parents of the young girl that gave the party. If only 10 people were invited, why didn’t you stop the party and call the police after it doubled in size? As a parent, you don’t put yourself in the position to assume that kind of liability with a house party. I know that justice will prevail in Douglas County. They are going to put these murderers under the jail for a long time.
