“Nicole Prevails In Bid For Queens City Council”

Nicole Paultre Bell headed off a rival’s attempt to knock her off the November ballot for a Queens City Council seat.

Yesterday a Queens Judge, tossed out a challenge by candidate Ruben Wills after it appeared that, Nicole Paultre Bell had more than enough signatures to qualify for the upcoming election.

Nicole is in a nonpartisan, six-way race for the Jamaica, Queens, seat vacated with the death of Thomas White Jr.
“Time will tell, but this may turn out to be the decisive victory in this race,” said City Councilman James Sanders, a Bell ally. “She has proved herself seaworthy.”
 
Bell needed 899 signatures of registered voters to head off the pre-election challenge by Wills, the favorite of the Queens Democratic party, and she has them.

Pictured above at “The House Of Justice AKA NAN” the 26-year-old mother of “2 daughters” declared “Today we have sent a clear message that the campaign for change won’t be hindered by unsubstantiated claims by my detractors.”

Nicole’s Fiance, Sean Bell was gunned down in a hail of bullets by cops outside of a Jamaica nightclub on their November 2006 wedding day.

    2. @Adam, Truth be told: She is backed by Meeks (under multiple investigations) and Sharpton (himself quite controversial and has used his church and network to manipulate people). Sharpton is a resident of NEW JERSEY! His politics won’t fly there and neither would his church! He takes advantage of any opportunity to push his position and agenda and certainly Bell will be used that way too.

      2. @Mrs, Bell had no community ties to Jamaica prior to the shooting and only in the last three years has she tried to placate and enjoin the residents purposely toward her committments, how this will all play out will be interesting.

  9. Please!!! She’s a resident of Rockaway. Why isn’t she focusing on helping people in the community where she lives?

    Prior to the shooting incident, where was her community endeavors and base? I’d like to know what did she contribute to the betterment of society prior to being cast in2 the spotlight! Let’s be honest here: she has the financial means to back her own candidacy now – and has been politically positioned in a district where the councilman is now deceased.

  14. Girlfriend of an ex drug dealer, shot by police for committing a crime, had a street named after him by Bloomberg who is afraid of people of color and now his ho girlfriend running for a Council seat.

    Wow!!! Only in America can we have a president who isn’t a citizen, a terrorist supporter and now a thug’s girlfriend running for city council.

  16. all I can say is I hope she goes back to school. When Sean Bell was first killed and she was in the media (w/Sharpton glued to her hip) she could barely speak proper grammar. Sharpton had to coach her and whisper in her ear everytime a reporter asked her a question. Her diction sounded like she was a bit on the ignorant side (intelligence wise). I wonder if she even has a high school diploma. What she needs to concentrate on is raising her daughters to become productive young women in society.

We can only hope that history is some indication, as we celebrate the children of a former bootlegger like Joe Kennedy, one who became president of the United States and the other Senator of Massachusetts (you can Wiki it) Sins of the father have never been an issue in this country. This woman wants to turn a number of wrongs into rights and she has the right to run for office if she chooses to. I’m wondering why all the hate? please!!!

  17. Ms. Bell is unquestionably one of the most beautiful women that would ever have been in the City Council or anywhere else in New York. And it looks like she has the fortitude and courage to consider seeking a public office when she is obviously a private person speaks to her commitment to change a system that took the man she loved in a criminal hail of bullets.

    On a positive note: I hope she runs for that office and wins.

Sean Bell was killed the morning of his wedding day, which means they had already obtained a marraige license. therefore the courts granted her his name due to such tragic circumstances that he became instead deceased. It happens if that’s what the person wishes to do… esp. for the sake of their children. Sean Bell intended to marry Nicole Paultre therefore she has/had the right to legally inherit his last name.

  24. People are scared of her power to galvanize,unify, and organize. What does it matter to any of you moaning if her last name is Bell. Being an Ex-Con doesn’t mean you are eternally corrupt and evil. It means that you made a mistake and paid for it. Most people have parties on their wedding eve. She has a right to run for office. It is up to voters to decide who they wish to elect.

This girl has to find a way to do something positive. make a difference for her own satisfaction. so why can’t she become active in her community as an outcome?

  41. Let her run (not that it’s ANY of my business or yours. It’s up to the citizens, actually the VOTERS, of her district if THEY want her. If they do, they will vote her in. If they don’t, they won’t… but, in any event, they will have spoken. I SEE NO PROBLEM WITH HER REPRESENTING THOSE WHO TRUST HER JUDGEMENT AND LEADERSHIP. I hope you make it and I hope the number 1 thing you’ll concentrate on doing if you win is to improve relations between the community and police. The minorities no longer trusts the long arm of the law, and believes all cops are murderers. You can probably change that thinking. I wish you well..

  46. Hey Fam, personally I love what Nicole Paultre Bell is doing. Education, no eduaction., her past does not determine her future.

    I commend the fact that, she didn’t lay down and die after such a tragic outcome, she’s not wallowing in her grief. And all of the settlement money in the world will not bring her fiance back, nor will it replace her happiness or the challenge in having to raise their two daughters alone.

    I commend her efforts and support her bravery and will continue to follow her progress throughout her campaign.

    So by all means family, carry on.
