    1. I don’t think it’s painfully clear that there is no evidence. The boys’ testimony will be very damaging. It really hit me when I heard him say that he couldn’t take enough showers to get the smell of Long off of him. As with any trial, we never see all of the evidence in the news. If this were to go to trial (I doubt it will, the church will pressure Long to settle) then I think we’d see some really damaging evidence. But from the complaint alone (as well as the pictures), Long already has a lot of stuff to answer for.

      People automatically jump to the conclusion that the boys are just scorned, vindictive ex lovers without actually stopping to THINK and look at the situation. It seems hard for some of you to take something other than a cynical or unsympathetic view on ANY subject, but I would hope you would take time to think about this. Aside from the fact that it is already difficult for victims of sexual assault or molestation to come forward, but imagine how much harder it would be for a straight Black man to come forward about another man molesting them.

      Yeah, they say the age of consent is 16 or 17 in the ATL. So he can’t be tried in a criminal case and that;s why they turned it into a civil suit. Basically, all they can get is money if he’s found guilty. He wont face jail time unless someone else comes out and says he was fondling them before the age of consent.

      The funny thing is that it’s starting to look like Bishop Longstroke had all his t’s crossed and I’s dotted. It’s starting to seem that he knew exactly what age the boys needed to be before he started messing with them AND with no stone cold evidence it even seems that he knew how to keep shyt under the radar.

      Only time will tell what happens with this case.

      1. You simplify the situation by simply saying the boys were dumped. That is only insult to injury. Long was a grown ass man and they were young impressionable boys who went to him for spiritual advice, desperately seeking a father figure. He became that father figure and used that role to get them to have sex. So you can’t just say that they made a conscious decision to sleep with Long. Would you say that all the boys molested by Catholic priests consciously get molested? No you wouldn’t. To me, this situation is no different.

Not sure if the interview was a good idea, BUT, he didn’t “give the interview” per se….Channel 2 news FLEW out to Colorado and basically tracked him down and followed him to a convenience store. Caught him walking out of the store when he was on his cell phone and pushed the camera in his face. Initially, he wasn’t going to say anything, but somehow, they got him to start talking. I’m sure his attorney wasn’t initially happy, but I don’t think he said anything that would have changed his initial statement.

    I feel sorry for him. If you’ve never been sexually abused or know someone who was, you can’t speak on it. Take it from someone who knows. Until you are in that situation and that state of mind and have to deal with the aftermath, don’t speak on how someone deals with it. It’s not a good place.

  34. the lawyer for the boys said there will be no settlement this will go to trial and they have evidence more than the boys testimony. and this being a civil trial they probably can get away with less evidence than if it was a criminal trial.

  35. They may win, civil cases are a lot easier to win then criminal cases. They really don’t need that much proof, all they need is a jury to believe they were victims of this sexual predator and rule in their favor. Remember the OJ Simpson case, they didn’t have enough proof to file criminal charges (charge him guilty of murder) but the family won a civil suit without a blink of a juror’s eye.

He preached damnation to gays on Sunday and then Tuesday turned around and told a 17yr to rub lotion on his dyck cause God said it’s ok. That’s the problem I have with BEL.

    And here’s a little known fact: BEL is New Birth, he doesn’t have to answer to anyone. He told them to either give him total control over the church or else he was leaving and they did it. So yes the church should be sued too.

    1. Yes, there is no governing board of this church any longer and EL doesn’t hide that fact. The congregation voted to have the deacons board dismantled.

      I will say this. EL was mentored as a young preacher by Earl Paulk. For those who have time, Google this man. Everything about New Birth, its operations, and its skeletons follow the blueprint of Earl Paulk’s church.

It tripped me all the way out to find out the age of consent in ATL is either 16 or 17 b/c that’s way to young to even think about trying to make that kind of decision. Facts say that our brains really aren’t fully developed until about 25 anyway and that the last part of the brain to develop is the part that determines our reasoning skills.

    It’s just all very sad and I do believe the guys it’s just going to be hard to prove this if their is no real evidence. Yes, Jamal’s accounts seem to be dead on and I have no doubt that he’s telling the truth but in a court of law many times word of mouth just isn’t enough.

He preyed on these young men while preaching to a church full of mostly black women who seem to STILL worship the ground he walks on. This man drives a #350,000 Bentley and it ain’t for Christ sake!     i wish i could fast forward to the end of this mess. bj berenstein bear has pretty much guaranteed there will not be a fair and impartial jury pool for this case so despite long’s vows to fight, he’ll have to settle eventually lest he want to sit through a painfully long, expensive slugfest of a trial only to be found guilty and have to shell out millions in damages.

    if nothing else, maybe this will be a lesson for people to honor and grow their relationship with God, and not put any man on a pedestal or above reproach. we’re all sinners and i don’t think any of us would want our sins broadcast for the world to see/hear.

  77. Being in a situation like this b4..it is kind of hard to tell them to suck it up. I know how they feel. I still feel like that 15 years later. Something like this is kind of hard to forget. The only way they can truly expose him for what he is., would be to take him to court. Just telling someone about it is not going to draw enough attention to the problem and possibly prevent him from doing this to another lost soul.
