“Who Would Want To Kill Wyclef Jean?”

A supporter holds a portrait of Wyclef Jean as Wyclef (right) leaves the electoral office after submitting the paperwork to run for president of Haiti earlier this month.

I wasn’t even going to write about this fiasco but when the election council in Haiti rejected Wyclef’s bid for presidency, on the grounds that he has not lived in Haiti for over 5 years; I couldn’t resist.

You would think this reason would be common sense to the U. S. rapper but apparently not.

In a flurry of emails sent out by Wyclef he said:

“We await the CEP decision but the laws of the Haitian Constitution must be respected,” “We can only Hope!”

In the meantime Jean, who was one of dozens of candidates vying for the office of President in the earthquake stricken region said., “He was in hiding out Tuesday after receiving death threats”.

Jean said he received a phone call telling him to get out of Haiti and that he was in hiding in a secret location in the Caribbean country.

It never ceases to amaze me, how some people will always make a situation all about them. IMO, he’s power hungry.

I agree. Being for the ppl, may not mean you have to live in the same zip code but the next zip code and not next time zone over helps.

  7. I just heard on the news this morning that the council had put off any decision until Friday and that a person wishing to run for president has to reside in Haiti for 5 years, however Wyclef’s lawyer is saying that he has been paying his taxes and should be eligible to run. Idk, which story is the truth?

  11. Hello All. Not many countries nor individuals have ever really cared about Haiti. Before this devastating earthquake, who ever aspired to vacation in Haiti or visit Haiti on gp? That said, perhaps Wyclef could bring prosperity to this nation of beautiful black people? Even on a small scale, it would be something. For the record, only about 10% of the monies pledged around the world have been sent to Haiti, so sad. Now we have Pakistan suffering from the worse disaster in their history. We are so blessed in America and most of us don’t even know it! Peace.

  14. Having Wyclef as the President of Haiti will not benifit the ppl and their needs. Wyclef will no doubt benifit with great rewards for holding the position, but everything else will fail the great ppl of Haiti. Wyclef will be just like Obama by being the face and the voice for America. While taking orders from the ‘behind the scene’ elite Devils.
I will just continue to pray for the rise of Haiti and it’s ppl. Or should I say our ppl of color.

  20. Embarrassing. You mean he didn’t check this out in advance? You mean he believed all you have to do is be born in Haiti and even if you haven’t lived there in decades you can run for President? He’s more ignorant than I thought.

  21. Maybe he thought all that important documents was destroyed in the earthquake so he decided he’ll run and win. But I didnt know you had to have been living there resently. Being born there should be enough. Who are they to have special rules? They need to get someone soon. Well let me rethink that. Thats where the United States keep going wrong.

This is all the reason why they have these laws for sellout Negro’s. I hope he sat his ass down and pay his taxes and help Haiti from a far as he has been doing….

  26. Haiti has enough problems, they damn sure don’t need a joker like Wyclef running their country. I agree with the commenter that said he should be ashamed of himself. Instead, he should concentrate on music and leave the politics alone. Haiti needs a true leader and someone that genuinely cares about the people, knows what the issues are and can make decisions that everyone can benefit from and not just those in power.

  28. Wyclef is truly the devil for what he has done with that Yele charity. Thank the Lord I didn’t give him money to squander after the earthquake (even thought it’s looking like the Red Cross wound up squandering my few dollars after all). At this point there is no way he could convince me that he is an honorable man. But if he’d even try he’d have to start by moving to Haiti and living there for the required 5 years before he tried to run again. But that’s alright, the IRS is gonna make him pay in spades. Dirty bastard.

This guy is a joke. in the midst of a scandal where he is accused of stealing money meant for the Haitian relief effort coupled with his million dollar exotic collection it certainly appears he lack sincerity and a true concern for his people. Sean Penn has done far more good in less time ,and has not sought out the lime light in doing so. I don’t trust Wycelf as far I can throw him.

Wyclef will NOT be the next President of Haiti.

was jetsetting around the world collecting money that the people never saw. I don’t approve
of death threats, but I hope that he will not try to take advantage of a country that’s still
hurting from those deadly earthquakes. He seems like an opportunist to me. IMHO
