Mayor Corey Booker is asking city employees to “BYOTP”
– Buy your own damn toilet paper!!!!!
Mayor Booker’s city is facing a $70 million dollar shortfall that has prohibited spending on the smallest things, such as toilet paper for city employees.
Newark, NJ like any other major city, is seriously struggling to make ends meet. They city will also be closing all city pools as of August 2., prohibiting all city council members from having debit cards and will be implementing a four day work week as of September, which will result in a 20% pay cut.
Some councilmembers are not pleased with the new cuts, including Donald Payne Jr.
“We continue to try to work with him to lessen the pain of the citizens, but at the end of the day, it’s his obligation,” he told the Star-Ledger.

Sad Just Sad!!

I think that cutting T.P. is a great idea if it means that someone can keep his/her job.

Cutting toilet paper is not extreme – it’s a health hazard. What’s next? Getting rid of hot water for hand washing?

Come on, Booker. Give your workers some toilet paper.

Sounds like he is on the right track. However, cutting toilet paper from the budget? A little extreme I think.

Actually he is doing a good job. Better then Sharpe the crook
And the city has no $, its not his staff that is the problem. You know were Mayor Booker lives right? Do you?
Answer that and maybe you will understand he is one of the better Mayors in the country.
I live not far from Newark, its a slum and full of corruption.

I like Cory Booker a lot (I hope he runs for governor of NJ) but I must say I’m tired of these grand standing announcements threatening to cut all kinds of things toilet paper, closing pools in August, a day less of trash pickup, etc. Things that purposely hurt the folks who can least afford to have these item items cut and people who expect the local government to look out for them. Why not starting by freezing all non-essential business travel. That means Mr. Mayor no more trips to California to do the Leno show. How about letting go one or two or even three of these special assistants to the assistants. How about getting rid of one or two lawyers and a few of the consultants. I could go on but you get the idea. Stop hurting the people.
