This week, the U.S. joined nations around the world in instituting sweeping emergency measures to further combat the corona-virus pandemic. In an attempt to slow the spread of COVID-19, the disease caused by the virus, schools and universities are shut down, and concerts and convention centers across the globe have been closed and cancelled. And now public health advocates are saying African Americans are at a greater risk of death from corona virus.
For a whole host of economic, political and historical reasons, Georges C. Benjamin, executive director of the American Public Health Association, says it’s a threat that African Americans need to take particularly seriously.

Good show Tracy but this is not our disease/virus how can we be dying more than the majority? The numbers don’t add up!

Tracy, they are still trying to make this a “black disease.” I need to see the over statistics for the entire country not just statistics for places like Chicago, Detroit etc. Those stats can be taken out of context because there are a lot of poor black people in those communities and poor in generally do not have access to appropriate healthcare.

I guess it’s he new thing to blame the black community for dying from COVID. Most black people don’t have insurance. How are they supposed to get annual check-ups? Obamacare is/was too expensive. We know what pre-existing conditions are but what can a person do who doesn’t have healthcare? We have to ride the bus to work as cashiers and other essential jobs so that leads to more exposure. We are a disenfranchised group of people who don’t have savings. Right now, we need help not criticism. Donate to food pantries in the black neighborhoods. Donate masks and gloves. Set up health centers for testing. Make sure that 10 million dollars goes into the hands of the needy.

I think blacks are the carriers and we are making people sick. We are killing them. Spanish people have a higher incidence of diabetes than blacks.
