His name is Robert Butler (pictured here) and he went on a shooting rampage at his high school yesterday. But before doing so, he posted a chilling message on his Facebook page warning them of the attack and blaming the school for driving him to violence.
Butler, 17, burst into an office at Millard South High School in Omaha, NE, during school hours and fired four to five shots, striking the assistant principal and the principal before fleeing in his car and eventually committing suicide about a mile from the school, Omaha police said.
Assistant Principal Vicki Kaspar (L), 58, died at a hospital hours later. The principal, Curtis Case (R), 45, was reported in serious but stable condition.
No students were injured in the shooting.
Isn’t Butler (pictured above) the cutest kid? Which goes on to show you that the devil will use anyone to kill, steal and destroy!!
Butler’s friends and family were left dumbfounded by the attack and struggled to explain what drove the boy, described as fun-loving and energetic, to his gruesome end.

Kids today are under a great deal of pressure than years ago. Kids just don’t know how to have fun anymore. In my day after school we played outside, got exhausted, had dinner as a family, did homework with the help of our parents, watched a little television and went off to bed. We had no time to get depressed and plan murders. Parents need to start being parents again and start giving their children JESUS @a young age.

Underlying mental issues + easy access to a gun.

@OLIVIJAH & ADAM:
Though we will probably never know the real reasons, I wonder if this kid didn’t have psych/emotional issues that meant he was on some kind of drug like Prozac, Abilify, etc. So many times teens are prescribed these drugs all willy-nilly and have terrible reactions that result in violence of some sort, or suicide.

@MAN, ADAM & YVONNE: he was probably being bullied.

Nah @Felicia, I have a hard time believing that a police detective’s kid was being bullied or the victim of some other serious issues with the school.

@MAN
Cop’s kids are no different from anyone else’s kids. They get bullied and are bullied. They are A students and they flunk out. They are geeks and they are jocks. Only difference is that they have parents who are cops. Believe it or not, most cops don’t throw their weight around trying to make sure everyone knows not to mess with their kid.

I agree w/Yvonne: 10-1 says this kid was on prozac or some other drug to treat one of the many pseudo “mental illnesses” the psychiatric community has invented over the last 20 years.

Exactly @Donte,
Someone SHOULD HAVE KNOWN of this student’s problems which would have ben clear to anyone who was observant. His parents certainly should have known that this boy had problems. Some school staff also ought to have been aware. Definitely, his friends and classmates knew something. Most likely, this tragedy could have been prevented.

So what yall are saying is that *metal detectors* are needed at all public schools? Because one may never know someone’s mental state in every situation.
LikeLike
Daisy,
The schools need professional psychologists and/or psychiatrists on staff, working to identify problems and intervene.
Metal detectors don’t help. If a kid is having a problem and (unfortunately) sees this as a solution to the problem, then a metal detector will NOT stop them.

My condolences to the families involved. This kids Dad was an Omaha police detective so I’m sure there will be a full investigation into how he obtained a weapon.

Yeah and @CEODawg, what the media is not saying is that there was obviously a reason why this kid was moved to a different school in the middle of his senior year. At the time of the shooting he was being suspended for reportedly driving and tearing up the Millard South football field. This kid wasn’t a victim of bullying, he was a nice middle class kid who had problems.

Stories like this one are always so tragic. And you really have to wonder what has to be going on in a teenager’s life/inside his or her head that makes committing an act like this seem like a good idea.
@civil, prayer always brings comfort. but again this depends on one’s faith.
