Scandal of the year!
Four young men accused Bishop Eddie Long of using his money and power to coerce them into having sex with him. Thirty (30) young men in all, have come forward against Bishop Long since.
Although Long has vowed to fight the charges, the case is in mediation right now. Why? Because Bishop Eddie Long is a powerful man with a many of his church members in his closet and if he goes down they go down too.
If Long were innocent, he’d want the trial to be public so that the world can see that his accusers are making false allegations. A person who asks to settle things behind closed doors may be hoping that he can salvage a small piece of his reputation and rely on the blind faith to remain convinced that he can do no wrong.
Either way, Bishop Eddie Long is guilty, is going to bust hell wide open and his disgraceful scandal, wins scandal of the year (2010) on the CEO’s blog.

There are many reasons that Mr. Eddie Long may opt for medaition as opposed to going to trial. The first being that a trial is very expensive and time consuming. I assume that the church is paying his legal expenses. I may be wrong on this. However, if I am correct in my assertions, by agreeing to enter mediation, Mr. Long is potentially saving his flock hundreds of thousands of dollars. With that said, just because Mr. Long has opted for mediation does not automatically mean he has something to hide, nor does it imply that he is guilty.

The bottom line is simple: HE’S GUILTY! I don’t care how much it would cost, especially if I had the money, to clear my name of something so scandalous and malicious. The church recently sent out an email that stated that tithes and offering were not being used to pay for the trial. Apparently, they have some type of “insurance” that pays for it. My point is that membership and attendance is down, so are the offerings… Eddie Long’s reign is on life support. Hopefully, his control over this church can pass quietly into the night.

People can say all day long that, “he’s human,” however he knows the word of God, he knows the consequence of sin, he preaches it and teaches it every Sunday. He, too, has to live the life, set an example. If these accusations are correct, he’s made a terrible, terrible mistake. God is still God and what’s meant for evil can be used for Good. That means Long can recover, he can lead again but there are steps to changing that must be done.

The bottom line was that there was nothing for Eddie Long to fight. He knew those young men were telling the truth.
A “fight” means getting it all out in the open. He tells his side of the story and the young men he allegedly sexually coerced tell their side of the story.
He now will avoid the public, he will elected to “quietly” settle. Hush money essentially will be paid.

I disagree with you regarding mediation. Accepting mediaiton doesn’t mean one is guilty. Sometimes you just want it to be over. The fact that Eddie long is choosing to forgo the case in court tells us that there is information that he does not want to become public.
