“They Are All Dead Today – For A Cause”

Singer and new mom Alicia keys joined a host of celebrities who are helping to raise money for AIDS research by suffering a ‘digital death’ which involves them logging off their Twitter, Facebook and other social networking sites for 24 hours today (Wednesday, Dec. 1).

Lady Gaga, Justin Timberlake, Usher, Kim Kardashian, P. Diddy, Jennifer Hudson, Ryan Seacrest, Elijah Wood, Serena Williams, Jay Sean, Swizz Beatz and more, make beautiful corpses while lying in their coffins in a series of ghastly portraits released by the Worlds AIDS organization.

In my opinion, I think it’s too much!

The stars logged offline on Tuesday, Nov. 30, and will not sign back on until $1 million has been raised for Alicia Keys’ Keep A Child Alive foundation.

    5. I can never put a negative thought into being charitable and I have passed many homeless but give in other ways. Maybe its because I live in NY and I can easily see that on the train. A charity is a charity is a charity at the end of the day.
      This got people talking and is now aware of the charity whether good or bad you are aware of it now. Would I be in a coffin? damn if you do damn if you dont.

  11. Another thing….it pisses me off when a bunch of super-rich motherfucker’s scream “donate, donate, donate to my cause!” When everybody knows the most wealthy 10% in the US (of which they are a part of) controls 71% of the nation’s wealth PERIOD.

    So you want these broke, unemployed, underemployed, fighting for benefits extension folks who can barely afford to feed & shelter their own selves & families to break the damn LINT in their pockets to raise just “$1 Million”, when every single one of these people could donate $1 Million a damn PIECE and get a huge tax break for it. So you want us to give all of our money to your wealthy azz cause, just as congress is preparing to give your over-indulgent azz an extension on the tax breaks you don’t need.

    Take the money coming from those tax breaks for those making over $500K a year and donate THAT to make your $1 Mil. I bet you’ll reach that mark in no time!!

Half of these celebrities doing this cause would walk past a starving family living on the street in Harlem before giving them a damn $10 bill, but want us to act sooooo impressed that they’re logging off of social media for a few days as the rest of the poor nation digs into their already lean pockets….BITCH!!! And to a bystander I could have come across as heartless or uncharitable however what you didn’t see was me give to the person at the other corner, or the gift card I gave to a young mother in Old Navy one day, or the clothes I gave to a less fortunate student of mine. You really can’t measure a person on one incident. And really if you see them walk pass surely you saw them and what did you give? (rhetorical)

      I agree….but what I would like to see is one celebrity say: “hey- I’ma set the example. I have more money than I really need so I will give $1 Mil and I will log off until the charity can raise $1 Mil more through donations.”

      I want to see the check being written dammit!! Please- some of these celebrities are probably donating less than $100 their damn selves and I probably give that to homeless people every 60-day period….

    11. I know I am late but Starr One thank you, thank you, thank you. It irks me that the people who give the most usually are not in a financial position to do so, but they do. I am tired of people co-signing these celebs bull when they can do so much more. I know more than likely they are benefiting from these charitable organizations, do ya’ll realize how much these “charitable” organizations make in a year and none of the money goes to the people who need? I commend you for what you said because if you can jetset, buy your baby $3,000 booties, and buy expensive jewerly why not CUT the check.

I have never understood why we (Americans) are so quick to run to the aid of everybody else while we all know at least one person or family that can use assistance healthcare something and they aren’t getting it. It reminds me of people that are trying to front like they got it all but really struggling to keep their lil bit be real and take care of your own first.     8. I have one rule @Daisy- I don’t walk past ANYBODY with a kid. That’s my guiding principle. My mother taught me that at a very young age- NEVER walk past anybody with a child. I learned that walking to the movies with my mother one day when she gave a woman who was begging & pleading for money to eat with her two kids in tow our McDonalds money.

      I was pissed because I REALLY had my heart set on a happy meal but I took something from that.

    I believe the celebrities use thier name to bring attention and awareness.

    Sorry I just can’t be negative on when someone is doing charity. There is always someone out there that will say “you should have did this or that” so I say good job Alicia and others who participate!

      That being said- I gave. I hate carrying cash so when I have cash in my purse, I know I drive by the same 4-5 homeless people on the same corners everyday between my job & my house. I’ve broken down a $20 in my purse MANY of time and gave each of them $5. Two of the women know my damn face & car at this point.

      If I cannot break it quick enough- I usually give the whole thing to whoever I can catch up with first. I don’t mind giving a $10 or a $20 every week. I don’t do church, so I don’t tithe but I know I’m blessed and digging in my pockets every week to help somebody EAT as I’m on my way to a restaurant with my fiance’ is the very LEAST I could do- just being honest.

    Didn’t he make like 4 kids in the last year? I mean shouldn’t he be taking a back seat to this cause because he hasn’t been practicing safe sex and isn’t that a way to contract the AIDS virus. I know that knee grow aint gonna say that the condome broke. He could have been putting himself, his children and the baby mamas at risk.

No matter what a person has or is doing in their personal life. We must remember that we have a generation of young people out here who going about life way far differently than we did. These young kids out here having sex with one another as if AIDS, HERPES,or any other type of STD cant touch them.       I do not understand the need for this morbid concept. It was meant to shock and add punch to the cause but in my opinion it falls way short and creates a fizzle.

      Why does Alicia look like she’s smiling? Its for HIV/AIDS I want to see devastation. Not glamor shots!!! Really?!
