“Alicia Keys Boycotts Facebook & Twitter”

For a greater good!

Celebrities have joined a new campaign called Digital Life Sacrifice on behalf of Alicia Keys’ charity, Keep a Child Alive.

The entertainers plan to sign off of social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter on Wednesday, which is World AIDS Day. The participants will sign back on when the charity raises $1 million.

“It’s really important and super-cool to use mediums that we naturally are on,” Keys said in a phone interview from New York last week.

For the campaign – which also includes Jennifer Hudson, Ryan Seacrest, Kim and Khloe Kardashian, Elijah Wood, Serena Williams, Janelle Monae and Keys’ husband, Swizz Beatz – celebrities have filmed “last tweet and testament” videos and will appear in ads showing them lying in coffins to represent what the campaign calls their digital deaths.

“It’s so important to shock you to the point of waking up,” Keys said. “It’s not that people don’t care or it’s not that people don’t want to do something, it’s that they never thought of it quite like that.”

Keys who has 2.6 million followers on twitter said, the foundation, which began in 2003, will accept donations through text messages and bar-code technology, which is featured in the charity’s Buy Life campaign and will raise efforts to support families affected by HIV/AIDS in Africa and India.

Of course media whore, Kootie/Kim Kardasian (pictured below) is the first to leak her ad for the cause.

    1. I think that all of Alicia Keys are great. She is not a home wrecker! Stop looking at the negatives in her personal life and instead see the bigger picture.

Besides her having a busy schedule and a kid she’s trying to get the celebs to raise money to help with something that can be treated if funded could save millions of lives. She also said that they can turn back on their social sites once they reach 1 mill she never said that they were going to stop at 1 mill.

    1. That’s what I’m saying @Ace.
This isn’t some random publicity stunt, this is a campaign to save lives of people who will literally die without the work Keep A Child Alive does.

People are debating about whether this is a good campaign idea, but while we’re here analyzing it and critiquing those who chose to participate, KCA is fighting to literally keep people and their children alive. We need see the bigger picture.

  5. Why bribe fans to donate to charity? “Participants will sign back on when charity raises one million dollars.” Everyone knows what AIDS can do. If people want to donate, fine. If not, fine. Y’all are rich and contracting all kinds of diseases “on the low”

  6. No disrespect to the charity itself, but damn everybody on that list can stay off of twitter IMO. All of them get on my nerves and can shut da hell up! I don’t follow none of them!

  7. How vain is this? I understand it’s for a good cause but donating (paying) celebs making millions of dollars a year to get back on twitter? Really? That’s where we’ve gotten to as a society?

How bout you donate 10% of your salary and keep yacking away on twitter?

  8. These people already give to charity, they are trying to get their FANS and FOLLOWERS (Keyword) to donate. If you are not a fan or a follower then keep your ignorant azz moving. You people are so ignorant that you do not take time to pay attention. These people have 3,4,5 and 7 million followers, this is who they are reaching out to. God if some of you people would get out of the hood and understand how the world really works, life would be so much easier for you. If its not about your welfare check, you could care less. SMDH

  9. “Celebs will sign back on when $1mil is raised”. I don’t like that. Why can’t the celebs donate their $? They have MORE than enough. Meanwhile you’ve
got unemployment rates at nearly 10% and average folks struggling to make it on a daily basis yet ur gonna hold the fans hostage till $1mil is raised? I realize its 4 a good cause but it seems backwards to me. F ya’ll and your twitter, FB & myspace accounts.

And I respect what Alicia Keys is doing and all.. I’m all for giving back no problem.. But to tell ur followers ur not gonna come back on Twitter unless u reach one million dollars just sounds dumb.

How bout u tell ur followers your gonna get back on Twitter unless u put the gun down… How bout u start with USA and get jay z drake Lil Wayne lebron James all the rest of these so called famous ppl to go in these hoods since they hood and from the hood quote on quote & tha ppl from hood respect em. How bout they go there try to be these kids mentors so they can have sumthing to look fwd to in life now that’s call saving a life.

    2. It clearly states why they are in the coffins.@Starr.,
This is one charity that AK co founded 40 percent of her earnings go to this charity. The fans pay 100 for concert tickets and 15 for cd’s I think that they will be willing to pay 10 dollars for a cause that is supported by their artist or tv personality. I think that you guys are totally missing the point. – bet you that on your lowest day in the hood, those kids in Africa would give their anything to be in your position.

  12. Wow this is a new level of stupidity. A gesture to raise money to stop death and despair and this is the response? No wonder our nation is in the condition that it is in. I can’t imagine that this is the generation that will be in charge of the country someday. God help us all. People stop wondering why your life and the life of your families are so miserable, stop wondering why you cannot crawl out of the holes you are in, stop wondering why shit seems like it never goes right for you. This is why!! Look at your comments and your thought process. This is why nothing will ever go right for you and yours. Its a damn shame!! At least these folks are making a difference. What are you doing. It does not have to involve money, it could simply be your time and effort, how many of you are lifting a finger to help someone? Yet you bash those who are. Wow!! And you think that your life will be free from drama?

    Not!!!!

When you got people like wyclef jean using the charity for his personal luxury & ects. & also we donate so much money to lousiana and they barely seen 1/3 of the money & they still need help now.

  17. What is with this state of our country crap because people got different views on a gossip website. The reason why people prolly have some many bad reactions to this is because the person who face is on the campaign. Alicia Keys Aka the home wrecking ho & Kim Kardashian aka The Ho. The Future is not Gona be messed cause people comments the future gonna be messed up if you don’t vote the right ppl in office And if kids will stop having single family life. So Stop! & of course I’m about to get a self righteous person who says well this is for charity people need to put that aside for the better good. Look, that’s all good & all but that’s like saying Tiger Woods should of kept his endorsement deals even tho he tarnish his image u can’t put a dirty face on a clean product it will never do well even if it’s for good! So Good Try Alicia but try donate-ing your own money. And not a percentage. Who ever don’t like my comment can kiss my black azz!

Here’s a thought, “why not find a way to operate society without money for the purpose of true life for all”,putting intelligent minds to work this plan out across the globe. Oh wait; we all hate each other, my bad.

Some celebrities jump on the next big charity to help their image. When I give my money to the homeless veteran on the corner or buy a meal for a homeless person. Those are everyday acts and they give me so much more pleasure then a celebrities fake a*s*s thank you for helping their image.

    1. It’s an awesome thing that you give to those very worthy causes, and of course it’s completely up to you to decide which charities impact you and move you to donate.

However, KCA is not about “repairing image”. Alicia Keys co-founded this organization in 2002, when she only had one album to her name and barely even had an “image”. If you watch any of her interviews, dating back to that time, you will see that this is something that she is sincerely dedicated to, and has been since way before many people even knew who she was.

The same way you are moved by Katrina victims, is the same way she was moved when she first visited Africa and saw so many people suffering, especially children who had lost their parents to AIDS and were now battling it themselves. She has stated that she was heartbroken because they all seemed to think that she had come bearing some type of solution, and that was what moved her to dedicate her life to this cause.

KCA’s hope is that one day a cure for AIDS will be found and that until then, people are provided with what they need to LIVE with the disease.

Sorry for the long speech, but I really feel it’s important that people see this mission clearly, and not have their view be clouded by irrelevant issues. This is about way more than Alicia Keys, Kim Kardashian, or any other celeb involved.

These are all mostly confirmed guys she’s admitted to being with, I won’t even get into the guys she’s been rumored to have been with. I don’t think her or CMilli are whores, but when comparing the two Kim K has C Milli beat by a looong shot when it comes to sex partners.
