“Should They Lie Or Leave?”

WOO ..these spiritual leaders, pastors and “so-called Bishops” are recklessly off the hook!!

In the wake of the Bishop Eddie Long sex scandal, looks like God is blasting other Bishops, Pastors and spiritual leaders out of the closet with their indiscretions as well.

Last week, Bishop Steven Arnold, pastor of a prominent Little Rock, Arkansas church resigned after admitting to an affair with a female in his congregation.

Unlike the spiritual protocol at Bishop Long’s church, the Board Of Elders at Bishop Arnold’s church (St. Mark  Baptist Church), kicked his philandering ass to the curb after he admitted his affair to his congregation.

“It is with a heavy heard that we accept the resignation of our pastor. Under his leadership, we have experienced tremendous growth, both spiritually and numerically. We love and deeply appreciate all that he has done for us through God’s enablement these past 21 years. In our efforts to curtail speculation and gossip, the Board of Elders made the decision to be more specific about what led to Bishop Arnold’s resignation. But out of respect and sensitivity to the families and all that are involved, we will not release any more information other than this. We prayerfully hope that the public will show the same respect and be considerate of the feelings of family members and our church during this difficult time.”

Well, there is one obvious difference between these two scandals: One pastor slept with a woman and the other with a man or should I say, young men.

Bishop Eddie Long might be lying to save face, while Bishop Steven Arnold just admitted his wrong doing and resigned his position as pastor of his church.

In the meantime down in Jacksonville, Fl., Eric Alexander, the Pastor of St. Luke Baptist Church, was arrested for assaulting his ex-wife in front of church members. This story is a real mess! Read More..

So, should these spiritual leaders lie or leave?

  1. Good morning people!
This subject must of came late.
Anyway..it is forgotten that the congregation along with the church leaders are all humans. Until society gives people room to make mistakes. These institutions created by men for men can not flourish. Unless mistakes are used to improve instead of condemning. we are going to see a crisis in major church institutions. The more layers that are peeled off the more human feebles will be detected and the more institutions will lose their worth and value just like the catholic church.

Living a lie for the rest of his life has got to be a sobering reality. Going against your true nature is never healthy or fun.

  3. It’s true, that there are some churchs today that are trying to act like they are in a worldly business instead of a Godly business. Our job is to save souls. The pastors, bishops, priests rabbis jobs are to teach the word. My bible says “ALL have sinned and come short of the glory of God”. No one is above that. God is not pleased and man needs to remember what he says in the book of Revelations when he speaks about the 7 churches (Rev. Chapters 2 and 3). I have no heaven or hell to put Bishop Long or any other minister in. They have to answer to God for anything that they have done. All I can do is study my word, ask for understanding and guidance and pray for those that have fallen into Satan’s trap.

    Good morning Fam!

  5. Tragically, the Church administration, continues to turn Heavenly manifestations into -Profit Centers. And uses them as a powerful means to manipulate the faithful, using their churches as platforms for political and manipulation upon the faithful. Since the faithful lack good shepherds, they continue to drift away from the Real and Living God.

  8. Some of these pastors have made the church into a corporation on the backs of poor tithers. They live in wealth while you’re deciding the price of meat at the grocery store. A friend of mine said she attended a church and the pastor asked them to give, give and give. People were giving their last. One Sunday she said when she got to the ATM, the line was long with almost the entire church in it.

If you purchase your pastor a car, a plane or boat, as a tither of that church I’d make my reservations to drive that car, fly on that plane and use that boat.

Pastor Fred Price has a protege in St. Louis that now has his church up for sale after too many scandals. Rev. Price never carried any scandal with him.

From what I’m told, the Potter’s House is treated as a corporation too

    1. @Joanne, aint that something? when christ didn’t charge his listeners in fact, Christ feed his listeners. And we should be doing the same amongst our neighbors in need, right in our own backyards and neigbourhoods daily. When we gather it is to give praise and worship to God, not man or money.

      1. @Joanne & Tabatha, that’s why Christ said over 2,000 years ago. “My Fathers House is a house of prayer not a den of thieves?”

    1. @Felicia,
A true spiritual leader is, one who is blameless (not perfect) but blameless and w/o reproach, husband or wife to one mate. Practices what he or she preaches and that means LIVING WITH YOUR OWN CONVICTIONS in private as well as in public. and loving his/her people as christ loved the church!

      1. @Zion, you’re right!!! A spiritual leader should be damn NEAR perfect, in the public eyes if nowhere else. and if you living fake that will be revealed 2.

    2. Felicia, Let me just say this…

1 Timothy 3:2 says, If you desire the office of A bishop., a bishop then must be blameless, the and the husband of one wife…

we are not seeing this today now are we? Long is on his second wife as well.

  10. The issue for me concerning “Bishop” Eddie and other religious leaders is their terrible, pervasive hypocrisy.
Everything else is secondary to that…this pastor hurt many gay & straight people and will probably never know how much his anti-gay rhetoric caused pain and suffering to others.
If he is gay, he should come out.
Those who loved him before will love him afterwards. The rest will find another to put on a pedestal.
All he’d truly be giving up is money, and THAT is obviously his first love–not Christ.

    Morning fam.

That’s a double sided question Tracy., if they leave it’s the result of their “wrong doing” and hypocrisy. And if they LIE that’s even worst because that makes them a LIAR and fake before the very people who think highly of them.

We as a people should ONLY ACCEPT AND EXPECT honor and “honesty”. Anything les is unacceptable period!!!

As for Bishop Long, how can he look at himself and his young accusers and blatantly lie? Protecting one’s self vs telling the truth before God and men is not my idea of leadership. It’s the fear of getting caught!

I guess the Bishop doesn’t know that God doesn’t play and what’s down the road for him, as he fights these charges he has never admitted did or didn’t happen, is going to be much tougher than this. He should be afraid of what’s going to come. 5 lawsuits in one month. The mansion is beginning to crumble, stone by stone.

    1. @Nicole, unfortunately for Bishop Long, the real issue that will arise from all of this will be from a serious legal/tax standpoint.

Did he use the non-profit organizations funds in an inappropriate manner by providing gifts, money, trips and more to these young men and others to feed his personal desires. This is where he, the board members and key position holders with Long are most threatened. This will be an “obvious” legal and tax issue that he and his organization cannot win and they know it.

Evidence by the church and academy hiring their own legal team.

His belligerent response to whether he is a “monster” or not is a smoke screen to the fact that the abuse of power and the boards derelict in duties and oversight is obvious.

Trust, the IRS is watching and waiting and preparing their own case against Long! Watch.

Is he a pedophile or sexual predator? In the end what we do in the dark will come to the light”.

      1. @Zion, I agree. is more for him than just about his abuse of power, the irs been thirsty for his azz for a minute now. they will seize his books and he will be held accountable financially for his abuse in spending let alone his sexual proclivities. interesting 2see how this will all turn out.

      2. And… if the charges against him DO prove to be unfounded — and I’m sorry, when you have FOUR different young men making the same accusations, well, where there’s smoke, there’s fire — then he still remains a RAGING homophobe and a perpetrator of hate. Hardly a Christian IMO….

      3. @Zion, all of theses churches should be taxed, they are money making enterprises preying on poor people through fear intimidation and exploitation.

      4. @Slick, especially the older ones. They abuse them financially. All of them need to be taxed. When you see these pastors, running around with goldchains, driving big cars, but the people in the congregation, drive old cars, that also shows you how greedy these pastors are. How can a pastor who has a megachurch tend to his congregation on a one on one basis?? Its all about Greed people not the Soul.

  13. With reagrds to this post: the entire concept of religion is a lie and lies are necessary for people to pretend they are capable of living within the narrow confines of acceptable behavior. Lies are necessary to maintain the community adhesion of the membership of the church. Lies are used to explain the concepts of God, and the idea that humans are not capable of self determination without constant conflict. It is through the rejection of lying that a person becomes free to tell the truth and live according to the ideals of our own minds.

From the moment I saw the Bishop Long on the Pulpit, with a robe on with the sleeve’s cut out exposing his muscle’s, that was it for me. lol.

No way, a man of God will dare step on the Pulpit like that! the Pulpit is Sacred! member’s will have meeting’s with their Pastor’s regarding their Negative behavior! some will take heed and other’s will continue to flaunt their Sin in the face of God, the Pillar’s of the Church are the one’s that, keep the church going! they will see and know about the behavior of their Leader, some will leave the church and other’s will remain, and why? FOR THE SHEEP! the Leader’s may Preach the word, but, behind the scene’s! the Pillar’s of the Church carry the Church!

Hard to believe that the Good Reverend chases females in the church while serving as the pastor. He changed his robes daily. from pimpdaddy to bishop like superman changes from reporter to Superman. lmao!

This Reverand Arnold does not appear to have made a slip. He appears to be manic and habitual about his. Who can estimate his total number of women? No matter what he says it appears that for him preaching is a career and not a calling. Satan was an attractive angel and also had a good tongue as he slitered before Adam and Eve. Satan said it would be ok to eat the apple as some of revs followers are saying its ok for the good reverend to commit adultry. GTFOH!!!
